Hi everyone... i am a student and currently own a Samsung galaxy s2 for last 10 months...
Last week i got my screen cracked but everything is working fine...
I was thinking if it would be a good idea to sell this and buy a new phone instead of spending 6500 inr for screen...
If yes then which one...

i would buy a s2 again.
im very interested in smartphones and always buy the newest and best phones. but when i buyed my s2 a long time ago, i was so happy with it,
the cam is very very good, the speed is awesome and its not to big like s3 or the notes. as u can see its still supported even from samsung with new jelly bean upgrade. i dont know much phones which get 2 android upgrades (from gb to ics, from ics to jb) except the google phones and the s2 is still supported by good devs. so why not buy a s2?

I would agree in some point. Yeah it is got a very good graphics card and all. But you might wanna go a little more future proof with the 2GB RAM option. Not that you need/use it all but its worth having for the future. Im always going with the Note series now but the Nexis 4 is a pretty solid buy

Need advice, should I stick to my i9100 or should I go for the note?

Answer is simple, if you can bear that monstrous size, yes.
If not, you know.
Swyping from my GT-I9100 via Tt
Note is just like a bigger SGS2 with lesser Development
Not worth it as SGS3 is around the corner
For me it's also a way to keep the value of my SmartPhone high
When s3 will be out the s2 price will fall hard, the note on the other hand won't drop that hard I think

I'd like to think the same thing too, but if that's your main driver for swapping phones then I'd be against it. I don't think the Note is going to keep its value either because the market for a 5 inch "phone" is very small. I recall the Dell Streak on eBay very well, and just because they're advertising it during the SuperBowl doesn't mean it will guarantee people are going to buy.
Either way you're going to suffer some devaluation especially once the S3 and iPhone 5 are released. I personally couldn't fathom using a Galaxy Note. WIth that in mind keep whichever device you think would suit you better for you in the meantime.
Believe me..you're gonna regret it...SGS II got it all......

To be honest I would love the galaxy note over the galaxy s2, that screen size just looks fantastic But I am already saving up for the galaxy s3 (hopefully will have enough in about June, I like to wait a couple of months after release to make sure the phone is the the best and it has no mayor bugs, reason I got the s2 over the sensation as after a couple of months it was clear the sensation has a crappy dual core arm cortex-A8 cpu and a buggy touch screen + the locked boot loader was the main turn off) As long as the s3 has a bigger screen than the s2, I'll be very happy
I would suggest that the s2 would properly be better for most people, but if you can you should wait for the s3
You will look like an absolute fool and normal people will laugh at you.

Well I'm selling my Galaxy S2 and will buy a Galaxy note. The S2 is the best smartphone I've ever owned by lightyears, but the s3 is around the corner so it will soon lose its number 1 smartphone status. By getting the note now I get to try something new, something that will have more resell value when the S3 comes out vs the S2. So you should go for it buddy!
Only if you have big pockets.

my main drive is that it'll only cost me about 50$ to change it (selling s2 + 50$ = NOTE)

I'm going to go for a Note myself from my current S2, gonna sell my wifes Nexus S and give her my S2.. I like the Note for it's awesome screen and the S-Pen.. It doesnt suit everyone, but for me it's the perfect combination of a tablet and a phone. The screen is hands down one of the best in a cell phone today.

Greetings! First of all sorry for my bad english.
I'm watching this forums for some time but I finally made an account because I need some advice.
I have Galaxy Ace at the moment and I'm in a search for a new android one.
So i got stuck on Xperia S, Galaxy S2 or something 3rd
And I'm not sure if galaxy S2 is still worth buying? Is there any better dual core andorid?
Quad core is just to much at the moment for me and I don't see any reason to get one.
I found HTC one S is a great phone but it's to costly for me and I really don't like HTC phones.
Anybody?
Best dual core android at the moment? Or at least best for its value
The galaxy S II is still a great phone. Depending who your service provider is you could maybe even get some other phones, but the s2 is amazing. It is one of the most durable phones, even though it does feel cheap. It will come with touchwiz so I suggest you put a custom rom on it. The battery life is pretty nice on it. The screen is nice, large and bright. The phone is very nice, with its biggest downfall being it feels rather cheap, but still a trustworthy phone.

Hello.
So, Yeah. I'm going to get something new.
After I had unfortunate accident when my Droid RAZR broke in my pocket without any crash, I'm receiving new one for warranty and decide to change something, because I hate when phone breaks without reason
I live in Poland, so I need something that reach europe.
What I need... Specs comparable with RAZR (CPU and RAM. Some nice GPU would also be nice), Screen at least same quality as it and overall nice quality.
It would be also welcome to be easily moddable with decent amount of Custom ROMs for it. Official/Unofficial CM support is also welcome.
And one more thing. No SGS2. I'm tired of it.
So. Any propositions?
Thanks in advance!
Galaxy S II is old, why would anyone suggest it with the Galaxy S III is out? If you're tired of Samsung then go for an HTC One X. If not, the Samsung Galaxy S III is waiting to love you. I'd suggest a Nexus but you seem to be pretty content with rooting and ROMs so I guess it isn't necessary.
How about Galaxy Note 2? Supposed to be announced at end of month

If you like rooting and roming, go with the Nexus. Otherwise, Galaxy S III or One X.
Ooh, go for the Xperia gx. Actually, scratch that. I don't think it's available in Europe yet... maybe the acro s... damn I'm not really sure when it comes to Europe.
Sent from my X10i using xda app-developers app
go for the one X, but rooting it might be a bit difficult, if so, then go with a nexus!
I would suggest a Galaxy Nexus. Nexus devices always get the official updates first and will be supported for a long time (for example: Nexus S got JellyBean, Galaxy S which has almost the same hardware has not even gotten official ICS...)
Get Galaxy Note 2. It will be released in few days.
Galaxy s3 is an awesome choice too.
Sent from Samsung Galaxy S3 T999
The nexus s is very close in spec to your RAZR. The camera isn't as nice, but fantastic device none the less. You can get them cheap right now too.
The SGS3 is an incredible device. It blows away the RAZR in performance from every angle.

If you can get a Galaxy S III go for it because Samsung just came out with the official jelly bean OTA , otherwise Galaxy Nexus ftw...
The Galaxy Nexus does not have a gorilla glass display , only a scratch resistant one...I haven't really tested mine by putting it in my pocket with my keys lol, but If you get a decent screen protector you won't have any problems...
Gorilla Glass is a big plus , but its a small price to pay for the software experience you're getting out of this phone...Pure AOSP Android experience , you will get the latest updates FIRST, and not have to wait like with the SIII for example...or any other phone for that matter...
Plus its a pretty powerful phone..well worth its money right now if you don't care about the mediocre camera...(which I personally think is fine...1080p video at 30fps , with decent lighting it records great... Photos are OK as well so...)
OR if you're good at waiting you can wait for the new nexus to come out that might have a GG display, but Google hasn't even announced it officially yet so...

Hi guys,
I purchased galaxy s3 few days ago. But at the back of my mind i always had this feeling that samsung didnot provide 2gb ram for the quad core version. Also s3 scored less benchmark score than iphone 5.
This ram thing is bugging me a lot cause im worried if my s3 would get outdated too fast. What do you people think? Should i sell my s3 and go for note 2. Is galaxy s3 one of the best phones out there?

The GS3 won't be outdated anytime soon, so you don't need to buy the Note 2 for that reason.

The Note II is to big for me at least so I would probably sick with the S3, but if you don't mind that extra size, get it.
As you use your S III do you have any issues like lagging or any probs that is related to RAM? If not then RAM is not something that should be bugging you. Up until that monsterous 5 inch 1080p phones coming the distance between note ii and s iii will remain quite significant regarding size and purposes. I would stick with my siii knowing that if I had a note ii I could never handle it anywhere like a phone as I would with s iii. Rather, I would have both of them.
if you handle big size go for note if you cant then no, head over to some samsung cafe to have a demo

NOTE 2 BECAUSE SGS3 has only 780 mb ram and note 2 has about 1.6 gb ram
multitasking sucks on galaxy s3 because of that reason
and after updating note 2's firmware you get split screen multi tasking like note 800 which makes it awesome
click thanks if helped
Dude.. s3 is an awesome phone in total. Go for the note 2 only if u want a bigger screen and a stylus. Coz, as of now, the ram of s3 is really sufficient. All games run without a lag, smooth browsing, smooth multitasking. What more u need?? So don't think that s3 is gonna get outdated anytime soon. Give for note2 if u want bigger screen and yeah it has better battery life coz of the humongous battery. Don't switch thinking s3 is gonna get outdated.. hope I helped.

Thanks guys for all the reply's I too feel that the s3 is pretty awesome, but few things are really annoying such as the dialer and contacts lag etc which sammy should have fixed. And also they should have added extra ram. There is no huge difference between the s3 and s2. I am just a student, I saved money to buy this phone, I want it to be perfect that's all
If you want a larger screen, go for the Note II. If you don't, stick to the S3.
If you want to get Android updates first, go for Nexus 4.
^ unless, like most of us you like using an sdcard - nexus 4 doesn't... which is a deal breaker for me

Note II is an amazing phone but the problem of the size is very critical for me and also i didn't find any problem from the RAM of s3 it's doing great , and also samsung in a last update said that the next update for s3 it will support multitask multiscreen, so they will not doing something like that if they know that the RAM will not sufficient and sutiable for that ,

If u feel being outdated bcoz iphone 5 scored better benchmarks, just wait for s4 or exynos 5250 chipset handset from samsung. S4 will be on exynos 5450 architecture. But whats the point in waiting too long when hot tech is right in ur hand. If u can afford go for note 2 all the way without selling s3.

Thread title should read "Help me get even more confused guys"
Mostly everybody seems to be giving similar advise. if you are ok with bigger size+ $$ to burn, get a note 2, else you already have a s3.
Why do you think the s3 is not suiting your needs ? i eman do you have any complaints, or just the fact that your phone will be "outdated" soon ? Cos it happens among students (i noted you are one) where they try to show off the most latest gadgets, trust me, not worth the race. as long as it suits all your needs, (guessing music+pics+FB+whatsapp) then s3 is perfect (you already have it so ....)
Lot of folks talking about Multitasking ?? are you sure you actually going to use that feature ? or maybe again just to "show-off"..
I am assuming you may have a laptop already, so...... multitasking ? emails? etc... will they really make any difference ?
No offense but these were my 2 cents and the rest is upto you. my vote - stick to the s3 for now.
Are you guys getting the Galaxy S IV or you're keeping the S III ?
I think I'll upgrade to S4. Not a fan of HTC one M7 and Xperia Z is definitely eclipsed by S4.

Where's the "Hell no, I'm buying something that isn't made by Samdung" option?
I'd pick that, since I got burned by defective SII and SIII eMMC. It wouldn't surprise me one iota if SDS crops up in the S4 also. Lesson learned.
Skipping S IV. There is nothing it will offer that is worth an upgrade so soon after S III.
I'll keep it for awhile. The best phone ever and it will be strong for years.

waiting for another release of S Series,
maybe S 5
but if this concept becomes true, i will buy it as soon as possible.
Only thing that interests me is using it with gloves because could help a lot at work, But I've been sticking the tips from some of those cheap capacitive gloves onto my work gloves and works fine, and apart from that I see no reason to give up my S3.

Nope,my S3 is still around 4-5 months old and this year if I upgrade again it will be Xperia Z not S4 & I don't see a point upgrading S3 this much sooner either. It performs more than enough for now,for at least around another year & half S3 should be a beast. There is nothing in S4 that wow'ed me like S3 or Xperia Z did when those were announced.I don't need floating touch or online translator app(for that we already have google) + we will get most of new features in S3 after some time via upgrade hopefully
And I don't need a 8 core processor in my phone, hell 4 core i5 760 is even more than enough for my gaming rig.
I usually upgrade every year, but here's why it's a no from me this time around...
(AnTuTu scores)
Galaxy S1 (~3000)
Galaxy S2 (~6000) (200% increase from S1)
Galaxy S3 (~16000) (267% increase from S2)
Galaxy S4 (~21000) (130% increase from S3)
So unless you want it for DC-HSPA+ / LTE (which I'm not going to see any time soon), it's probably not worth it.
