Bluetooth Headset Not Working (Supernexus i9100 4.2.2 Build 3) - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I just flashed my GS2 9100 to Supernexus 4.2.2 Build 3. I'm enjoying this rom quite a bit. However, I'm having a problem with my bluetooth headset not having sound when i am in a call.
My headset is a blueant q2 with the lastest firmware (1.1). I have no problem pairing them, and I can hear sounds from the phone through the headset (such as vol up/down), but as soon as a call connects, there is no sound at all.
Can anyone help me? Much appreciated!
Thanks~

It looks like a glitch a dev will have to patch in the phone app. Can you hear the call when you put your phone up to your ear while the headset is paired?

Hi i'm also using that ROM,i don t know if it's the same thing but i have not that problem pairing my device with my Ford fiesta bluetooth sound system because everything works well, so i think the problem is on your bluetooth headset,
Bye

Hi,
Thanks for replying.
I cannot hear anything from the phone or headset during a call.
It's weird bc it seems to work properly when I'm not in a call...

Update:
I paired the phone to my car (VW Golf 2013), and also had the same issue.
I'm wondering what handles bluetooth? if it is an issue with the rom / kernel or modem.
Just to clarify, I was previously running the latest themed version of Neatrom and had no issues with bt.
Thanks for any help!

update 2:
I have tried reflashing the rom, but to no avail...
I have verified that it is not the modem (i flashed the latest NeatRom with the same modem, and no bt problems)
I have also tried:
1. Siyah_kernel_v5_MCM-i9100-vsync
2. re-downloading the rom and kernel from different mirrors and resflashing
2. Running hawkerpaul's GS2ROMNuke script and then reflashing the Rom
I have run out of ideas... Unfortunately i cannot post this directly to the supernexus forums, as i do not have enough posts...
It's too bad, because I really love the idea of the stock android experience on my s2. :crying:
It's back to neat rom for me. (for now?)

update:
After trying a variety of different options including (wiping my entire phone: cache, dalvik, data, system and internal storage).
It turns out it was indeed the modem after all. After flashing (LS8) the issue was resolved. I had no idea that the modem and rom would have such specific incompatibilities (since it worked fine on NeatROM, bluetooth and all)
To other Canadian users who may be experiencing similar issues:
The Bell Canada modem for jb (UGMA5) is incompatible with Supernexus 2.0 build 3. Trying to use it results in any calls taken on bluetooth being muted for the duration of the call. You will not be able to hear or speak to your contact. Instead use a different international modem. I am using LS8.

Hi I am in the same boat with a i9100 from Bell. Tried running cm10.1 and newest build of AKOP both with 4.2.2 and flashing/wiping all the partitions but still no bluetooth working in my car yet the A2DP works just fine. Could you give a heads up where to get the LS8 modem software?

Hi, Sorry I am new with this. I am also having the same issue with bluetooth device, I can't hear anything during a call. I actually upgraded to 4.2.2 AOKP. I have I9100M (in canada). I am wondering how can I choose the modem that's right for this phone. Also, how do I know which one is the one used by this phone just in case if something goes terribly wrong, I can revert back.
What does this modem do? I remember in the old days modem is to translate digital data over a transmission medium, is this the same in this case?
Thanks,
Ti.

Hi,
I have BT problems. While connected to my car stereo (Sony MEX-BT3900U) for a while, the phone reboots itself. After reboot the phone doesn't automatically connects to car stereo, I have to manually reconnect. I'm using the Official ICS rom (I9100DXLP7).

I'm aware this is a noob question, but I think don't really grasp the complete flashing process:
The only thing I did was flash ROM I9100DXLP7 with Odin. I wasn't aware the kernel had to be updated manually.
Should I root first using CF-Root v5.4 LPQ, and then flash the Separate Kernel: Download (.TAR)? Both files are listed:

tnx for your help...
I have the same problem with my S2 and car stereo (Sony MEX-BT2950) had no luck after trying multiple stock / custom ROMS and even combinations of different kernels and modems. nothing worked. the only way this is going to work is to roll back to Gingerbread

I forgot to mention that this bug has happened on every ICS build i have tried right up to XXLPQ. I have just noticed there have been two releases since then, XWLP2 being the latest. i'm gonna try it and will report back with the results.

It does not its part of the firmware and root wont fix the problem either .
Although a custom kernel with a built in fix for the problem could be the answer .

good call. i'm downloading LP2 as we speak and if this does not fix the problem then I'll give one of Siyah's new beta kernels a shot as well.
EDIT: I have installed LP2 and Bluetooth streaming to the car stereo still results in a reboot after approx 15 minutes. Flashed Siyah Kernel 3.0b6 and that didn't help either. back to GB i guess.
Good news everyone!!!!!! I have found the fix! Just load following kernel (using Odin): SiyahKernel v3.0.1 (Posted on April 8, 2012). this kernel can be found at http://www.gokhanmoral.com/ . All credit go to the devolpper of the kernel.
Cheers,

Sorry but it isn't a solution. I have installed the last siyah kernel, 3.1rc6 and my phone keep on rebooting every about 15 minutes if it paired with my sony car audio system.
Has anyone found a solution?
I have the same problem. I'm using Wlp8
DULP9 and its still broken. god this sucks. im tired of having to use the slow and battery hungry GNex cos it's bluetooth, of course, works fine with my car stereo
SOLVED!!!! well for me the fix was using a CM9 based ROM. F1 Galaxy Nexus to be exact. I was able to stream via bluetooth for well over 90 minutes without any problems whatsoever. I hope this will help someone out there.
From what I can tell from some thread I found somewhere else using google, it seems that any custom rom running 4.0.4 works fine, seems to be somehow related to Samsungs 4.0.3 rom and any roms based on it (not sure about 4.0.3 roms NOT based on the Samsung rom).

My 2c.
I am having the same issues. With the ROM XXLPW the problem stopped, but this ROM is not smooth and battery friendly as XWLPD that I was using before.
Today I flashed XWLPG and guess what? The reboots came back!
Where is the Bluetooth related files? Maybe using the XXLPW in the XWLPG or XWLPD we can have a trouble free ROM and smooth at the same time.

Marcello there are 3 solutions
1. given that XWLPM firmware is based on Android 4.0.4 this *might* solve the problem (i no longer have a GS2 to verify) Beware! I *think* this rom may have the dreaded "brick bug" that could permanently damage your phone. Do NOT install CWM recovery with this rom!!!!
2. install a ROM based on CynaogenMod 9 or AOKP. both are also based on Android 4.0.4
3. If you must stay on a Samsung stock ROM then downgrade to Gingerbread.
I'm pretty sure nothing else would work. I sure hope the Galaxy S3 stock roms dont have this bug as im really considering getting one this week

Have you already wiped cache partition (and Dalvik cache) in recovery?
Maybe that can help.
If not, try another kernel ... such as SpeedMod or Siyah.
Good luck !
nothing of the above has worked
i'v tried already the Siyah kernel.
is there any way to install the gingerbread bluetooth implimintation on the ics ?

i managed to quote the wrong reply.
as 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 are both ICS could the BT files be moved over to fix it that way ?
Hmmmm.... WHICH version of ICS?
I have no problems at all with official ICS I installed (OK, GPS lock is a bit slow, but I can live with that)...

CM9 Phone call voice problem

Hi All,
i updatet my former T-Mobile (DE) S3 with the CM9 stable and later on also with the nightly build from yesterday.
But i have a seriouse problem.
When i call some fixed line phone numbers and also IPhones i have some havy noices in my call. I can hear the other side perfect but he can barly understand me.
The strange thing is, that this is not happening to all fixed lines, it looks like that it depends on the fixed line provider.
Could it be that there is some voice codec issue or something that is set in the CM9 which is not supportet by any provider?
With the stock 4.0.4 form Samsung i have no problems at all.
Maybe somebody has a hint for me. Thanks for your help.

Which baseband are you using??
CM9 requires LFB and above to make proper voice calls.

Hi i had LF1 installed when i did the update to CM9 RC2 after that i installed CM9 stable and than later on i tried the baseband an installed LFB which is currently still installed.
Whats your suggestion? Factory reset + Wipe all with LFB installed and than CM9?

I Did a wipe and i also tried now:
XXLH1
xxLG8
BOLF1
and all have the same problem.
Anyother idea?
Looks like i got it working now.
What i did finaly was, i updatet to the XXLH1 again, wiped the phone, everything at once in CWM.
That back in the system i had to check the checkbox at "noice cancelation"? (in german it is different) at the call settings.
I will try it out and see if it will work stable.

Hi, since three days i having this problem.

I've got the same issue... I tried Revolt ROM one week ago and did not encounter any problems until I had to restart the phone (for adaway), then suddenly my speaker was not working properly and I could not make phone calls anymore, the other one on the line could hear me just fine, but I could not hear talking or the ringing sounds or anything else...
I thought it was because of the ROM and tried AOPK next, but had the same issue after a reboot of the phone. Next ROM I tried was Vanilla Rootboox (also AOPK ROM) and I started to wonder if maybe this was a AOPK-related problem, so I installed a CM10 nightly build, which had the same problems...
I tried formatting system and sdcard (internal) while flashing new ROMS, but to no avail, the issue remains...
Any suggestions? It would be much appreciated...

I have news and i can confirm there is an app responsible to get us this issue.
I have restored factory settings and re-installed the lastest official firmware (toggling the root permits too because i thought the root permits could be the cause) and i could call with speakerphone fine (i tested for over 50 minutes of phoned); then i have installed Skype and some other app and i could talk with speakerphone fine through Skype and Phone...
When i have just installed remaining apps i have noticed our fastidious issue...
Anyway I have unfortunately known that it's a widespread issue..

I have 2 head sets from Motorola H 710 and Elite Flip. neither one works. With the stock rom the Elite Flip did work 95% of the time. This is new stuff for me so I am depending on you guys. My buddy who introduced me to custom roms does not have any idea and he does not use blue tooth. Could be the phone to.
Bluetooth and custom don't mix well. Read all the time that bluetooth calling don't work on this Rom and that Rom all being custom roms. Using a custom 4.2.2 Rom is your problem mate. If you need it that bad go Bk to stock. Sorry
