Surely there must be an app out there that can force the phone to go into deep sleep, disable all wake locks apart from the phone?
There's loads of matches for wakelock but its basically been keyword spammed now so hard to search for.
I was just looking for the same thing, but found nothing but this thread... found any solutions?

Try some apps like McTweaker or Pimp My Rom,maybe there you can force phone to sleep better
I have Alcatel OT990 and on every ROM with every kernel,my phone sleep when screen off without any 3rd party app.Make sure that your kernel can "sleep" because some custom kernels in development can't

Hi all helpful human creatures,
As in the subject.
Nothing can be seen on the screen besides the home screen, no new notification or anything like that, no sound.
Just as if I woke it up with the power button.
And then goes asleep properly after the timeout.
Unrooted stock rom, Apex launcher.
I looked into the data of Better Battery Stats, but could not find anything related.
And I do not like it because the light sometimes wakes me up during my 'going asleep' process.
Any guess or recommendations what to check/try?
I do not want to root the phone, so a preferred solution would work without that.
Thanks
while you wait for the solution...keep the phone screen down in the night...and have a peaceful sleep
Mine does too but it's because one of my apps performs a certain task at that time and needs the CPU to be awake or whatever. I can't remember which app(s) n what tasks but that's probably why yours does it too.
Possibly clocksync? Or an anti virus scanner?

I don't have any of those installed.it's my suspicion as well that an app causes it but could not find out which.

its caused by some apps,,,for me to it happnd 4,5 times so i did a clean wipe an always read comments an download apps cause even market apps r sometimes crap..
The only way that i can think of to find out which app is walking the phone up would be to go through them all, or at least all the ones you think could be doing it, and check the settings to see if it checks for updates or runs a backup or any other scheduled tasks once a day.
Pretty time-consuming but I can't think of another way.
Alternatively, you could just let it be like the first guy said.. It's only on for a little while and as long your phone is face down when it happens, it should disturb you.
Good luck

ok, so I read around the web and xda and didn't found any reasonable solution to this frustrating bug...
when the screen is of, it takes around 1-2 seconds to wake up...regardless if I press home button or power button...
I tried stock rom, flashed another samsung based, AOSP, AOKP and the lag is present on every rom...even with a fresh install, restored apps, installed everything manually...
tried removing sd card and still nothing
is anyone experiencing this also? is there a fix?
please help out, it is driving me crazy!!
btw can this be used to fix this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=744655
What's so important in your life that you can't wait one second?
Install an app to keep a wakelock and you'll have instant-wake. But get used to plugging your phone in.
BTW, linking to a kernel for the Samsung Vibrant and asking if it will help ... wow.
why the flame? no one is born perfect, not even you
it is annoying because the sg2 is the one of the best phones out there with impressive hardware and it sould be without bugs like this...
I linked that topic because there is something about this lag that may be helpful...
btw, xda search engine provided the link
JKAY's framework v 14.0
have you tried JKAY's new framework for ICS v14.0 .. it has a lot of new options and settings to personalize or S2 just the way u want it
including it has 2 precious options :
1)fast unlock ( can be found under lockscreen options >>set common options )
2)fast lock ( can be found under set misc settings )
I found a topic related to this..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29994420#post29994420
so even though JKAY has this feature, it is not a fix but a battery drain...
the app softlocker cures it but does use a little more battery
I have zero lag at all.. You can try my setup in my signature if you care that much

they say wake lock app is even better
So this is a bit of a pot shot but the I9300 is the 3rd device I have owned with the slow wake issue. On my previous device (huawei g300) i used this kernel mod after being told that vsync was partly to blame.
github.com/KonstaT/zte-kernel-msm7x27/commit/368448b773f6917c213f37f7dd1a882ba588b120
It worked a treat and was soon inclueded by our resident CM ROM dev at the time. My questions are:
Could we benefit from this or something similar on the i9300? Has the cause of the slow wake been identified?
Thanks
In Ultima Rom there is an option to fix this wake delay
And it is mentioned there that I9300 goes in deep sleep mode and thus a delay occurs in order to wake the cpu
when the Fix is applied then the delay is gone. I have personally not checked the fix because i am ok with it, but i can try and let you know but too lazy for that
Also so much on my plate going on.. but this i just shared with you is what i read.
This might be a stupid question, but I have a Motorola RAZR (stock ROM and no root) and it seems that practically every time that I switch on my screen, the phone spikes CPU to 100% and seems to cycle through every application (according to Cool Tool Pro CPU Monitor). This takes it about 2-3 minutes and then CPU goes down and stays down (for the most part). Unfortunately this renders the phone virtually useless for the time that the CPU is at 100%. I have checked to make sure that WiFi stays active during sleep and I get notifications and messages while the screen is off, but whenever I want to use my phone I experience the above situation. Does anyone have any similar experience? Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how to correct this? (Aside from getting a new phone)
Appreciate any help! Thanks.

Hey guys,
I've been this issue for a few weeks now. After I lock the phone, either with the power button or an app, sometimes when I try to wake it up (double tap, power button) it won't do anything as if the phone is frozen. I have to retry many times and after about 20-30s of trying the screen will turn on.
I found a way around the issue by disabling the lockscreen, when I did that the phone would ALWAYS wake up.
I can't really find the guilty app since the problem started around after I rooted and installed Xposed and Greenify. I know the lockscreen process is not in greenify.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Are you using a custom kernel? I had this issue when changing governor

Nope, stock kernel and rom.
By any chance have you disabled MPdecision or multi core control, or something simular
That was the cause of my problem a while back
Thanks for reminding me of the disabled apps, but still nothing. Enable them all, rebooted and the issue persists.
