I am S-Off running the latest firmware along with Flex's Stock with Goodies 3.40 based on 3.16. Rom works great except for the Sense Weather Widgets. The Weather itself works fine, but every time I try to add the widget to the screen, and try to click on my location, it crashes and freezes the phone for a couple of seconds before recovering.
Anyone experienced this before and what can be causing this issue?
Thanks

Upon unlocking phone, in the background, it is like beaming sunlight, then goes away.
I have recently rooted, and tried a few ROMS and went back to stock. Anyone have any idea what this is? It did not do it before. Doesn't bother me, I just cannot seem to identify it from Ti or Running programs.

lol. Its a function of Sense and the Sense clock widget. It has the weather and gives you a nice weather screen animation on initial unlock and going to the home screen. Its can only be found and run on sense roms.

I see where the lol is now
I had never seen it before, and I am not, or didn't think I was using the widget, I will have to check... I currently have a blank home screen. It actually looks kind of cool when it happens.
just an fyi beautiful widgets also does the same effects also
Hey XDA,
I recently upgraded my Nexus S to ICS 4.0.3.
LOVE IT.
It's smooth, and bugless. The browser finally seemed to have caught up with Safari!
There is one small annoyance, however. When the phone starts, everything is great and dandy. I use PlayerPro, AudioManager and some other widgets on my homescreens.
After a while I find the widgets don't seem to refresh anymore. They are stuck on one static screen no matter what I do.
It's really annoying, as I don't know which album I'm on, or what my current audio settings are.
Is this a ICS bug? Or is there some setting I should change?
I'm using JuiceDefender in the BG. I had autokiller, but since uninstalled it.
It is rooted, with a unlocked bootloader.

Thanks. Gotcha. Anyone have any idea? it's driving me crazy.
Same issue here - stock Nexus S 4.0.3, not rooted. I don't know what caused this, but just restarted the phone and now it is ok. We'll see if it will happen again.
If u hav installed beautiful widgets then..
Well after lots of trial and error.. the only solution i found is..
1. uninstall beautiful widgets animation
2. clear data beautiful widgets from settings - apps - beautiful widgets
3. uninstall beautiful widgets..
Living without beautiful widgets is better than facing that refresh problem..
I run ICS on my SGA and the widget refresh works fine
Anyone else here try Nova Launcher on their ICS ROM? I'm having issues with adding widgets to the homescreen. Every time I try to do so, the launcher closes.

Yep. Nova doesn't work when you try to add widgets. Not sure why, though it could be something to do with phone compatibility or the fact that Nova is currently optimized for Android 4.0.3. Until the devs are able to get 4.0.3 running, I think we're kind of SOL. It kind of sucks, but we'll be able to use it soon enough.
same. it is a bummer
Yeah even if you install it as a system app it still does the same thing FC on widgets. The stock 4.0.1 launcher is so laggy in comparision, but it's better than nothing. 4.0.2 - 4.0.3 seems to solve a lot of the transition issues that plagued 4.0.1.
Once we have aosp it'll probably work properly.
i'm running ineffibilis and i'm having no issues. trebuchet on the other hand...
On Nova beta 13, new apps' widgets don't appear in the locker unless I restart Nova. Existing widgets show fine. However, the new widgets show up fine in the widget picker, whether from launcher screen or switched from drawer mode. No FC yet for me.
This is a problem that seems to occur only in ICS, but I don't know more than that. It didn't happen when I was running stock, stock/rooted, or Saurom. I'm using the Apex launcher but a quick Google search shows similar reports from people using Nova.
I'm running Flappjaxxx's ICS IMM76D UCLE2 Base (but I haven't updated to the new release that came out today). I've also noticed this on ICS Objection (with Apex launcher).
So, here's the issue: occasionally widgets will "Freeze" and stop updating. I've seen this with Beautiful Widgets (the clock will stop updating, so it will read 3:05 when it's actually 3:30), Android Pro Widgets (specifically the calendar and bookmark widgets--the calendar will not let you advance to different months, the bookmarks widget will not update to show new bookmarks if you refresh it), and the TweetCaster Pro widget (it will not update to show the latest tweets when you press the refresh button).
There is still some functionality with the widgets--they don't die completely. I can still touch the clock portion of Beautiful Widgets and get to the alarm settings. I can still touch individual days in the APW calendar widget and see appointments, and touch the header to launch the full calendar, and the APW Bookmarks widget is still scrollable, clicking individual bookmarks will launch those pages, and touching the header bar will launch the browser's default page. But for some reason they stop updating.
Things I know
1. Restarting Apex launcher appears to reset the widgets. They start fully functioning again.
That's about it.
RIght now I"m trying to determine if JuiceDefender might have something to do with it. I don't think it would because I've used JD on my other phones with no issues... HOWEVER, none of my other phones have ever run ICS. I don't know. Maybe ICS is different. I know JD had issues working with Gingerbread for a while...
Anyone have any thoughts? Questions? Experience with this? It's a bit mystifying. NOw that I know restarting Apex launcher gets everything working again it's a lot less annoying than it was (rebooting every time was a pain) but I'd still like to figure out how to make it go away.
I had same problem with beautiful widgets. my task killer was my problem.it was to aggressive
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
Same problem.
Have this problem both with Omega 7.0 rom and cyanogenmod.
Some widgets freezes after some minutes when phone is in standby mode.
Just by tilting the phone and let the window be landscape and then tilt it back again will activate the widget.
But it is annoying....
i had the same problem with widgets freezing; i uninstall go weather widget and go launcher and now it s fine again !!
edit: oops it came back...no freeze with Apex but it's still freezing with Tsf..
reedit: i found my problem: it was "clever contact widget "that froze the others widgets but only with TSF shell (not with Apex!!!)

i'm using a motorola atrix 2 with stock ics and this's happening to me also , it's not any app that's causing this problem , it's a bug in ics as to many .. searched gooogle .. no launcher can help , i tried nova prime and apex but same happens to both , but now i'm on stock blur again and it doesn't happen so frequently but still happens, they say that only google can help in this case , they have to give an update .. so we have to hopw that they'll give us one soon .. until then we have to restart the launcher
note- try an anlog clock on your home screen , or anlaog and digital both home screens in a one home screen , you might notice that digital clock freezes when the analog clock works fine , i don't know why but that's happening to me ..
I notice when you keep your Wifi On for so long (I use wifi for more then 5 hours) then Launcher (no matter what launcher you use, i tried Stock launcher, modified, xperis s/t/gx & Go Launcher ex) stop updating the widgets information, ie, the Time widget don't update the time & weather widget don't update the weather information. they remain stuck unless I forcefully restart the launcher.
is that a bug related to ICS & Sony Rom ?
anyone else notice the bug ? or Im missing something ?

maybe problem is from your ROM. if you use custom ROMs , use a stable one, like Pureness v 14 or Jellysandwich.
and if you are on official sony update , maybe a it is a bug .
I use Stock Rom.
Just want to make sure, is it related to Sony Stock ICS or just me ?

I am on Custom ROM and don't have such a problem.so i am not sure about stock ROM, but you can try a custom ROM, and if problem does not solved , its you
Thanks for the suggestion,
personally, i don't like any of the Custom Rom. they all have some problems/lags.
I can try Jelly sandwich or pureness but again, they both are based on Stock Rom !
I also experienced same bug, why/when it happen I don't know, didn't found pattern. But now that you mention WiFi, will check it.
I remember I experience that but some long time ago, and I always restarted phone to fix it, now I just leave it for a min or two, and it start refreshing again.

It was so annoying to find out what was the problem, I just keep eye on every Application & Launcher one by one I checked all the application & different launcher. & figure it out, its Wifi causing the problem. keep the wifi On for 1 hour and your widgets stop updating.
how did you fix it ?
