Any insight into what this might be?

Curious about this as well. Most people have a hunch it's a radio firmware update, so if anyone sees improved signal/call quality I'd be very interested to know.
User Harold Goldner on Droid-Life had an interesting point.
If you are one of the more than 95% who run stock, it can't hurt. It's too small to be bloatware. My guess is it's an hboot update and a radio fix (and that's purely speculative). The Official ICS update was v. 3.14.605.12 so this is a tiny increment. The Global leak radio/firmware was 2.22.10.0801r, 12.22.10.0803r, so this radio firmware version number is actually lower. For those of us running S-OFF, custom ROMs and the global leaked firmware, probably nothing of interest here. Certainly not worth RUUing back to stock to "check it out."

Huh, my wife's Rezound is bone stock. I'll have to check it out when it hits her phone.

What doesn't need to be done lol. Stutter scroll, lag, lock screen from an older sense version, messaging app, app drawer lag/stutter, system settings taking way too long to open from the home screen... I'm sure there are more issues "under the surface", keyboard is awful, can't predict it's or It's.
What's funny is most of that is fixed in the sense 4 (and up) roms. But they won't give us sense 4.

Huh, never really noticed those things but I haven't been stock in a long time. My wife's Rezound is stock other than I updated her's to the global RUU and haven't had those troubles with her's either.
HTC, to the best of my knowledge, didn't upgrade any of their phones with an S3 processor to Sense 4+. Having run Sense 4 ROMs, and those are almost always full of tweaks, I can't really say that any improvements were a result of the higher version or the tweaks baked in. In either case, I guess I prefer the overall look and feel of 3.6 and always end up back on Ineff Deus.
To each his own.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium

That's what I use too. All 7 of the rezound I've had have all done the same things. Stock or not.

I'd be willing to bet, considering their recent deal with Apple and the fact that the DInc2 is also getting a minor update, that it's going to be the removal of the app preferences garbage and maybe some small bug fixes.
Sometimes you have to be smarter than your smartphone.

Interesting, thank you. If you wouldn't mind reporting on any battery life/signal/call quality changes with the update that would be appreciated.

I'm wondering if this will effect S-off devices and or root. I'm liking the new radios though...
maybe its a prepatch for jellybean
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium

Got the update. Nothing big to note so far. It did cause HTC Sense to become the default launcher again over ADW. It also seemed to break scrolling wallpapers in adw? Had a large wallpaper and adw would slowly scroll through it as I changed screens. Now no matter what I do, it is 1 screen size worth and just black space after it. So as I scroll through screens I get more and more black background. odd.

Does anyone have the real details of what this patch was supposed to do, fix, or prepare for?

The building I work in is partially underground and I have spotty 3G service and I noticed today that it seems to be better now. I received my update during lunch so no real experience with improved battery life.

it's 4.2.2 right?
...right?

Anyone manage to snag the URL from the OTA so that we can rip the new radios out?
Edit: You can also check your /cache or /temp folders for the files.

2.3.5 was more of Nexus S 4G update than an actual android update. I'm sure there's minor bugfixes that justify them claiming it to be the latest Android OS version, but any changes that took effect since I updated haven't been noticed by me yet.

Swype beta problems on rezound

anybody else had problems with Swype beta on rezound? It can't keep up with how fast I Swype. Bionic and ThunderBolt don't have a problem. Any idea how to fix it's very annoying. I can Swype very very slow and it will recognize it but any speed it just throws letters like crazy really need help!!

I, as well as many others, don't have any problems with it.
Occasionally mine will act as if I lifted my finger and started a new word messing things up. However that doesn't happen very often.
My new problem is I flashed a new ROM that is based on ICS. When I re -run the installer it still tries pushing a Gingerbread version of Swype on the phone. At least I assume it is when the version is 3.6.XXX for the Swype apk.
Speaking of Swype can anyone say "Worlds Longest Beat"...lol.

The problem doesn't happen for ANYone who doesn't swype fast.
But it's happened with me on every Rezound I've played with on every working version of Swype.
I swype faster than most people full-keyboard type.
I've just resolved to Swyping slower. your Rezound will do it too, trust me.
If you have installed the update, I do believe it fixed the choppiness across the middle of the screen. I am not for sure though, but I know they did add support for higher resolution screens and ICS. My experience after one day has been very good as far as the choppiness is concerned. It seems as if I no longer have to worry about swyping fast and it screwing up.
I was having the same problem when I first installed it - but it seems to have 'fixed' itself as I have a full screen keyboard now...

This what one of the Swype devs on their board says in regard to the word splitting problem which he thinks is caused by refresh rates and polling:
We make polling adjustments for problems like this on production builds that we distribute to our OEM partners; however unfortunately it is not in the scope of the beta test to resolve these issues on devices they may crop up on. It may work in a later build, but I can't guarantee it, sorry. :-(

EDIT: And like RED ZMAN stated, I don't think they've actually changed the site from the last update. I may be wrong though.
If you look at the pdf it shows the update at about 52.5mb. I do believe that ICS will be much bigger. Also if you look at the pdf it shows Dec 2011 in all the pictures. So NO this is not about the ICS update but was for the Jan update.

I'm sure they will, they certainly can't release it with the way it is such a battery killer.
By the way, before somebody posts that my battery life went up to three weeks with the latest leak, save your breath -I don't believe it.
Been a frequent visitor to the Verizon page and this is the first time I seen that article. Could be wrong but I have a very good feeling that ICS is coming sooner then many on this forum thinks. I sure hope it does, coming from the Thunderbolt just a few weeks ago I have been holding off Unlocking the Bootloader and rooting this thing. This is the first phone I have bought that I have not rooted and flashed a Rom within just a few hours of buying it. This phone is a beast, love it.

Haha, exactly. Have seen several posts by what I would call fanboys talking about how awesome the ICS leak is and how they can go forever on their batteries, longer than on GB. Everytime I read one of those, I cringe. I think batt life with the display off is better but when display is on, the battery meter is a countdown timer, it flies!!

I'd be ironic if the "update" is that they are dropping the Rezound price to FREE with a new contract. With the way its been going recently, that announcement is probably not far off..

Sadly i agree. They sure want to shrug this device off, not good business practice.
I waited till April 6th and when I did not see any ICS OTA, I flashed Clean Rom ICS and I am happy with it. I don't know what difference the official upgrade will offer but I am not really excited about it anymore given that I am already running ICS with maybe more than what will be in the upgrade. I don't really care about sense 4.0 because I am running the DEV version of clean Rom with Apex launcher, which in my opinion is even better than Nova.
Was this what the page said before or is it like an updated page.

I was wondering the same thing. My other phones(Samsung Droid Charge, Moto RAZR) update just fine over Wi-Fi. The Rezound is my first HTC phone. It always wants to switch to 4G/3G when checking for updates. I assume this means it will not update to ICS over Wi-Fi. I'm not sure why they designed it this way.
My Rezound is currently being used as a Wi-Fi-only device. (i.e. no Verizon service) I do still have my Galaxy Nexus active on my VZW acct. I figured I can just pop the 4G LTE SIM card into the Rezound when they release the ICS. After it updates, I'll just take the SIM card out and put it back into the Galaxy Nexus. I have a SIM card adapter for this. (Rezound uses standard SIM and Galaxy Nexus uses micro-SIM cards)
Since I have both the Galaxy Nexus and Rezound.... I can't honestly say that I prefer ICS over Gingerbread. ICS has some cool features, but that's about it.... most of the stuff that I do on my Galaxy Nexus doesn't involve ICS-only features. Having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing my Rezound updated to ICS, just so both phones can operate in a similar fashion.
ICS Update Delay
Maybe HTC & Verizon had a change of heart (I tried not to choke while thinking that) and the have decided to include Sense 4.0 with the ICS OTA. Of Course I could win the lottery if I actually bought tickets too!

In Regards to the Update Coming Soon

Seeing that there is a boatload of work to install this leak, I decided that its probably time to do homework instead of trying to play with my phone at 2AM.
However, I have noticed a lot of people saying that the release cannot be too far behind since the leak came out.
I'm a bit skeptical on this idea, because didn't a leak come out for the HTC Sensation ages ago? Now, I did not research much, but as far as I know (again, I may be wrong), the Sensation didn't have an official update either.
Its definitely not too far-fetched to think that the update might be delayed even further. HTC did promise that the updates would be early 2012 and as we all know, "early 2012" was a long time ago. Some said the updates would be during MWC, some said otherwise. What do you guys think?
As for development, this is definitely a very good sign as the interest and traffic for the HTC Amaze the past two days were quite phenomenal. The CM9 builds and Evervolv builds never really got anywhere for months. Do you guys think its worth downloading the leak now? Or would waiting be a better option? From what I heard, you have to re-root your device simply downloading the update.

The CM9 builds and Evervolv builds never really got anywhere for months. Do you guys think its worth downloading the leak now? Or would waiting be a better option? From what I heard, you have to re-root your device simply downloading the update.

The only htc sensation(the original one, not the xl) that doesn't have ics is the sensation 4G (T-mo version)
I honestly wouldn't be too surprised if Tmo is sitting on the update to push sales for the One-S. Not that I am a marketing expert or anything, but so far the release seems very stable and I can't figure out why they are holding off on it
I have a stock Amaze and installed it easily. All I did was rename the file and drop it on the drive.

will any update they do release still install after installing this leak?
I'm unsure but this leak stinks of a disgruntled employee with our phone "righting a wrong" about to occur... I'm suspiciously expecting a "official letdown"

Yes and no is my uneducated opinion. I feel like they're update the firmware yet because the radio seems finicky. With s-off, I think that they'll just be able to update the firmware through hboot, but with s-on I think we'll need to go stock, download the update, then do the reroot process....I could be off, but in the end we'll still be ok for any updates either way.
I think that pushing One S sales definitely sounds likely.
Meanwhile, I just think T-Mobile is bad with updates and this sucks for the development community because it means less resources to help people. There are so many devices out there getting updates anyways. Its not like updating the Amaze is going to hurt their revenue either. Its just frustrating. I definitely advise against waiting for an update from T-Mobile. Definitely update now. There are already great ROMs that were made.

ICS updated but want Ginerbread back i think

I waited and waited. Thought about rooting and using a ROM before the official ICS update came from AT&T but just decided to wait. Finally got the update via Kies, excited like a school girl. Initially it was a cool new bit of scenery, and as the OS settled in with me, i found myself disappointed and wanting my gingy back. I've been upgrade for a couple months now i think, and had plenty of time to try to get used to it.
I am finding lots of things that just plain suck.
1 - Text message notification audible alert discontinues after awhile (unknown amount of time), only resolution I've found is to reboot the phone. This sucks because just out of nowhere my text notification tone stops. Everything else like ringtone etc is fine. This is a dealbreaker for me almost. This worked fine on Ginerbread.
2 - new Swype software gives me problems when the word suggestion feature stops working completely. Swype is hard to do without word suggestions at times. Only solution i've found is again, reboot the phone. This sucks. I know, don't use swype, but i WANT to use it. It worked perfectly on Gingerbread.
3 - the widget for Google Voice is super tiny now, and i don't see a way of making it bigger. It's approximately the size of 4 icons, whereas before on Gingerbread it was huge and you could easily read/see your voicemails. Maybe i'm missing something on how to change the widget size, but i see no way of doing it.
4 - my News and Weather widget, which i used for weather and news all the time, since my original Galaxy S, does not display any weather information anymore. Just says "No Weather Information". this worked fine on Gingerbread. I guess different phone OS makes widgets work differently. I just want mine to work as expected. News still comes through fine though.
5 - Unlocking the screen seems more difficult now, usually takes me a couple tries, whereas it seemed really smooth and awesome before the update
6 - Power Saving widget is huge now, takes up half of one screen, whereas before it was just 1 row and you could scroll across. Why make it bigger and take up more room with no additional functionality?
After listing all this out, i'm trying to think of the things i LIKE about ICS update, and i can only think of one, which is the data monitoring/limiting which is kind of a cool feature. I doesn't seem any faster really than before. So overall, i honestly was happier with Gingerbread. 6 things that i find that suck versus one thing i like.
Maybe this is me being picky, but as excited as I was to get ICS, i'm equally disappointed in the upgrade. My wife uses a Galaxy Note and it is available for her phone now, and I told her don't bother with the upgrade.
Anyone have any advice??? experience the same problems? I know i could root, install a custom rom etc, but i really like the touchwiz stuff from samsung and i was really happy with just the stock gingerbread OS, even with all the bloatware, i just disregard all that junk.
I'm having the same problem with text notification I just notice that I get a text it would sound but just about an hour ago it just stopped I would get a text and nothing ringtones works and everyrhing but I think is a ics bug maybe it would get fixed in the new update 4.0.4

Never had the texting problem but I'm definately always having to swipe the lockscreen a couple times to unlock it.
News and weather widget works fine here too.

at&t sucks. bottom line.
Advice, if you want to stick with touchjizz, run a custom one, there are plenty that *should* have those issues taken care of.
But the widget size issue, thats just looks, with a different launcher can change size of widgets.
Lol I called this one. A bunch of people upgrade to stock ICS. Then they complain and want to switch back, mess it up, and start new threads. Hopefully they all learned their lesson about carrier upgrades . I mean even I tried it, just to see what it looked like and how it functioned. Then again I knew how to get back to a custom Rom Before I did it. It's actually not too bad, but there were just too many bugs and battery life was too bad for my taste.

Stop telling people to do that, they could brick their phones

It isn't 100% on all phones it seems to be random but instead of posting something VERY VERY risky for people not so inclined to troll the forums and find out about the risks of certain actions why not shut up or post what you think will work then link them to a topic showing what bad could happen. You just seem like you want people to brick and make more topics about how they tried to reset and bricked. You also need to think of Google searches that link to this topic and they read it and see you said reset and they do it. It isn't just xda its anyone with the internet don't lead people to a possible brick

The only way to go "back" to Gingerbread is to flash UCKH7 straight stock or one of the Gingerbread stock plus root packages in Entropy512's thread. So yes, use that, or one of my guides.
