Hello,
my friend have a dell streak 5 and he decided to root it... he was orignally on android version 2.2 and then he followed a guide here http://www.modaco.com/topic/316229-19aug-streak-21-downloads-how-tos-rom-superboot-recovery/ and flashed superboot r1 for build 6941 for "2.1". and now its stucked in dell logo...
the phone can still enter into recovery and fastboot mode so if anybody can help to recover back the phone it would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance
okay first of all sorry for double post.. a user assisted me and said to flash 360.Now the problem is how do I flash it in fast boot mode???I mean I am a regular samsung user and we have tools like ODIN(for samsung) where we can flash a zip file but I see for Dell streak you get a .pkg file so any thought how I can flash 360 file and get the Dell streak back in action.
PS:This dell streak got semi bricked while rooting so it might not be rooted so please keep the situation in mind and say me is it safe to flash 360 and if it is safe then how to flash it via fast boot mode
If you can enter the fast boot and recovery then update your fone with gb (2.3.3)
New rom makes every thing good and better

You don't flash a ROM via fastboot, but in recovery. If you don't have a recovery installed but can access fastboot you should be able to install a recovery via MultiFlasher (link in my sig). For the 360 ROM you would flash one of the region 00 recovery images. From that point you should be able to install the ROM.
Next time, don't use a one-click method to root. Install a custom recovery, immediately boot into the recovery and flash superuser.

thanks for all your support.. I solved the problem..
I am also writing sets of instruction that how I solved it just in case if some one faces the same problem.
Making note of my problem and the dell steak 5 condition,
*I was able to enter the recovery mode(this recovery is stock recovery).
*Once I entered the recovery I decided to download the stock ROM file (update.pkg).
*MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD THE CORRECT BUILD FILE (.pkg) OR ELSE YOU END UP IN A SEMI/FULL BRICK.(well in my case my build was 15609 so I downloaded the 305 version .pkg file and recovery wasn't needed since I already had the stock recovery for the specified build which is already installed on the streak 5).
*I put the file on SD card and renamed it as "update.pkg".
*Flashed the update via stock recovery. It took like around 5 mins since it was the first boot after flashing so be patient.
*TA-DAAAA!!! my friend's Dell Steak 5 was alive and running up on 2.2.2 :good:
I thank to all the people who assisted me in this process.
PS:Special thanks to TheManii

Hi All
Just a quick question i have a dell steak on o2 2.2 . can i just put stock 2.2.2.version 351 straight on or do i have to change baseband as never hacked the streak as my everyday phone ,phone is now unlocked but don't want to brick handset as the streak is greatest ever
With stock ROMs you don't touch the baseband at all. You DO need to replace the Recovery image with the version that matches the ROM you're installing. So, if you want to install 360 (the current Unlocked ROM), you would need to replace your current recovery with the one from 360, then flash 360 from that.
with recovery do i just use streak mod to install & then rename 360 rom to update.pkg
Any tips greatly appriecated
thanks
StreakMod is just a custom recovery. You flash the stock recovery for 360 the same way you would flash StreakMod (using your computer in Fastboot mode), but you only need StreakMod to flash custom roms. For stock roms you need a stock, matching recovery.

I've also have a questions.
Mine is :-
Android version = 2.2.2
Baseband version = GAUSB1A134700-EU
Kernel version = 2.6.32.9-perf
OEM version = GAUSB1A134700
Build number = 15274
Where I can get below stock ROM...? I've google below but no result found.
(Version)_(Build)_(Region).pkg ==> Streak_347_15274_00.pkg
What is the criteria must meet if I want to flash stock ROM...?
Same "build number"? Same "region no"?
Since my version doesn't has a pkg to dload in here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Dell_Streak_5
Can I dload & flash below latest stock ROM to my streak?
http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/manii/Streak_360_17397_00.pkg
360 (version) 17397 (build) 00 (region) May 31, 2011 (build date)
The recovery image and the ROM image you want to flash to need to be the same region. In your case, you have an unlocked Streak direct from Dell (region code: 00). If you haven't rooted your Streak, then you don't have to worry about flashing a new recovery. You can download the latest unlocked ROM, which you linked to in your post, and flash it.
Should you have StreakMod Recovery on your Streak however, you'll have to replace that with a region 00 recovery. For example, since you want to go to 360, you'd have to download the 360 recovery first. After downloading the recovery you would replace the recovery using fastboot commands, and then flash the ROM itself.
P.S. 347 only came direct from Dell. No upgrade path to 347 was possible.
ive trie many ways to load a stock recovery file on phone in fastboot .i 've got the phone to fastboot mode ,pc in cmd mode but unable to get it to work .
please help i thought it was easy maybe ive missed something
Did you install Dell's drivers for the Streak onto the PC? If you didn't, do so now because flashing doesn't work without them. Otherwise, download Multirecovery Flasher from the Android Development forum and run it. Do note that MRF does not have the 360 recovery included. You can simply download the 360 recovery from the usual place and copy it over one of the other recovery files included in the MRF zip.
Hi there thanks for the reply
i did think about changing the file but wasnt a 100% sure so wanted advice, everything seems good to go in fastboot mode but cant seem to transfer the recovery file so will try the way you mentioned later .
thanks

Root with superuser.zip.
You will not have to re-install your apps.
Just remember that when you flash streakmod recovery and reboot you must go into the recovery - do not let the phone boot normally. More info here and here.
Put the superuser.zip on your sd card
Flash streakmod recovery
reboot with fastboot reboot
as you Streak reboots hold both volume buttons to go into recovery
select option 2 and install the superuser.zip
reboot
You are now rooted.
just like to say thanks to everyone that has helped me seemed so daunting for the first time since i bricked my last streak & buggered it completely
great feedback from the forum
now have 2.2.2 360 rooted ,very happy

for stock roms there is a issue with streakmood recovery..for avoid from that issue 1st root your 4n with superuser.zip
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=997581
and then delete or rename system/etc/install-recovery.sh with a file explorer or or via ADB
then reboot and flash the streakmood recovery again..you are done

Hi frozen91,
This is simpler than that. You need to install the PC application Streak_iLikeMyGPhone from link.
With this application first install superboot and install recovery after and we have installed the clorckworkmod recovery.
We can install from update.zip superuser.zip or install a custom rom with the superuser already installed.
I hope you understand me, my english is not very good.
Actually, the rooting process is even more simple than what you posted, which you would have discovered upon reading the "Everything you always wanted to know about the Streak but were too busy bricking it" thread.
No one-click rooting tools of any kind are needed and in fact are not recommended. Flash the recovery then immediately boot into the recovery instead of letting the Streak boot normally. From there flash superuser.zip and voilá, you're rooted.

The method that I posted is the unic method wich I rooted and intalled clockworkmod recovery in my device. I tried with diferents methods and I get only with this method.
I could do with other methods in froyo 2.2
Well, Clockworkmod has issues on the Streak. You should be using StreakMod Recovery instead.
I don't run a Linux box, though I am familiar with Linux and have used it in the recent past. However, even with Linux you don't need a one-click rooting tool. Linux binaries for Fastboot and ADB are readily available. A cursory search with Google turned up this page. While it assumes the user is running Debian, the setup should apply to any flavor of Linux.
It doesn't matter which OS you have. No one-click root tools are needed to root a Streak because the rooting process hasn't changed from Froyo to Gingerbread. You still load the recovery first using Fastboot on your computer, immediately boot into the recovery, then load the SU binary.

Could you please break that down for me. Ive read up on every thread on rooting but i cant seem to understand how to rename the recovery file (where to go to rename it) so it wont be overwritten when it reboots.
Thanks.

Maybe a stupid question, but have you waited long enough?
First boot after installing a new rom can take a while

ok, is no so stupid, in fact is a good question, but yes I awaited almost 1 hour... I can´t understand boot is ok to perform a download mode but it can´t get started.... and only worked with odin and stock roms.

Did you do a data wipe/factory reset before you started flashing?
I got the same situation with flashing cm9 because I didn't do a wipe.
you should use the Wipe.zip script to clean up all the trash in your tab to make sure you can actually flash the firmware correctly. I got a similar situation the first time I tried this stuff out.
Recently I had a "funnier" problem because I flashed official cyanogen on top of unnoficial and the results were corrupted video drivers.
easiest way for sure:
-download 3.01 from samfirmware.com
-flash everything from inside the zip (modem, tab and bootloader) with odin 1.83
-check if the tab works (if it's not, it's possibly bricked, see emergency repair down in my post)
-download clockwork recovery and a recent rom (if you want to use a specific rom take that one, if you just want root, take any recent rom)
-go in fastboot mode
-type "fastboot oem unlock"
-put the clockwork file "recovery.img" in your fastboot directory
-now type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
-then type "fastboot boot recovery.img"
-when booted in recovery, flash your desired rom
-If you just want root : extract the rom zip you dld and take superuser.apk from system/app and su from system/xbin, now put both in the same directory as adb (same one as fastboot), now type "adb push superuser.apk /system/app/superuser.apk" and then "adb push su /system/xbin/su", reboot tab and you have root on stock rom
EMERGENCY repair: if the tab does not start after flashing with odin, take a piece of strong tape and tape the power button so it's constantly pressed, leave the tab alone for 12 hrs, then charge it and pray it boots
No thanks needed
thanks
@richard: my file is fine , thanks for the link
@wiisper: how can I perform?? my fastboot mode is wipeless
@sjpedro22: how ca I fllash the wipe.zip, ODIN? musT I "PUSH" with adb?? where is wipe.zip?? (gracias)

Use fastboot to flash and boot a recovery like in the how to root thread. From there on you can do a factory reset.
If the wipe doesn't work you have to flash a stock rom.
Here is what went down--
I installed TWRP - the official one, everything up to this step went great. Then I flashed a rom for Huawei Ascend Mate 1, not 2, by mistake.
Don't flame me for this plz, I feel bad enough already. Anyways, the phone is now stuck in a boot loop and there is no way for me to open up TWRP anymore. Is there any way I can salvage this phone yet?
Maybe try to fast boot and flash a stock .img. I think volume down +power is for fastboot, it is opposite volume+power for recovery.
Don't give up yet

Hi there,
Try to Fastboot and install TWRP recovery img again . When in TWRP wipe EVERYTHING but ext-sd!
After that (as I learned from experience) all is possible.
Here is what I had to do with my MT2-L05:
Installed original recovery.img via Fastboot,
auto updated (already had b607 update files in ext sd),
reinstalled TWRP via Fastboot and after asking me if I wanted to, twrp installed su for me!
Back in the game with b607 - rooted!
Had a problem with busybox because system was still locked,
installed in xbin with Stericson.zip via twrp and that did it.
Hope that's helping!
Hello XDA!
I am writing this thread to ask for help rooting my Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro.
I attempted to use apps such as: Framaroot, Kingroot, etc.. but so far none of them have worked and I have not been able to find a working guide on the internet of how to root my phone.
I also tried installing an unofficial version of TWRP for my phone but everytime I tried to boot into the recovery it would say "No Command" and then boot into the original recovery.
Is anyone able to help me root my phone? Can it even be done?
Any help is sincerely appreciated. Thanks!
Phone Specifications:

Try this at your own risk
Make a backup before trying
I got root access with this method
Download stock Rom from sammobile extract and there should be 5 MD5 files extract the AP file with 7z and copied boot.img on to sdcard
Installed MagicalMmanager-7 used it to patch the boot.img to a tar file
Copied the boot image to my pc desktop then flashed the boot with odin
When I booted it back up magisk manager kept crashing so I uninstalled it and installed magiskmanager-5.23 rebooted it opened magisk and followed the prompts to update it

Unfortunately I have not found a solution. Please notify me if you find one.
here is a copy of my boot.img after flashing this you will get a verification problem and you will have to reset your phone if it bootloops into recovery or starts to update and says no command take battery out put it back in and boot it again or boot in to odin mode and push down and boot it eventually it will boot in to recovery then factory reset it. first boot may take 5-10 minutes
my software version is J250GDXU2ARD3_J250GXSA2ARD3_XSA

Hey, sorry for the late response. Everything is working fine! I now have superuser abilities but everytime I try to flash my recovery with TWRP it just loads the stock recovery. I even tried removing certain files from the root folder to avoid the stock recovery being flashed but it hasn't worked.
Any idea? Ps. You are a life saver my man.
