I don't believe that his has been posted anywhere in this forum yet so I figured I would throw it out there as it's something that I've been looking for for quite some time. This allows you to have the Pie Controls on any ROM. It's just an app that is installed then set to run at startup.
Completely customizable for each section of pie.
I take no credit and am just sharing some info for anyone who wants it.
Download and install from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
umm...you can actually get one from playstore for free.
It is sweet. It had been posted a couple times, but is long buried now.

Been running this for a while, but thanks for sharing, it's an excellent app! The UI is damn sexy too! It finally feels like the perfect combo of a nav bar and dock/launcher, and you can even set a control for "kill app". I finally don't have to rely on AOKP to customize my app launcher/killer/nav bar combo.
I didn't know there was a pie control app in the play store though, that's pretty cool, and it looks like it doesn't require root either. Good to know.

I was looking at pacman, saw they had pie, and what I think to be a MIUI Battery bar outside the battery info area? Any way to do that with this that I'm missing? If that's not what it was, what was it?
Edit: by the way this is great, always wanted to try circle launcher buy found it rather ugly. Great job to all.

***USE AT YOUR OWN RISK***
Do not use with any other ROM besides neobuddy89's ICS Passion Version 10.6
This mod adds the onscreen software buttons for neobuddy89's ICS Passion ROM version 10.6 found here
This is based on evilisto's guide found here
What this Mod Does:
Adds onscreen buttons like you would normally find on phones and tablets which have no physical buttons.
This mod adds home, back and recent app buttons at the bottom of the screen (or on the right side in landscape mode)
Why would you want this?
1. because you can.
2. ever been in low light conditions, using your screen filter app to dim your screen nice and comfortably low when BAM your blinded because you hit the back button?
3. it looks neat.
Instructions:
1. backup everything in case you need to revert.
2. its a good idea to make a backup of your current framework-res.apk (found in system/framework)
3. disable your lockscreen (this is a current bug I hope to fix soon)
4. download the attached framework-res.apk
5. either use adb or a root file browser to replace the current framework-res.apk with the new one.
6. reboot (if you've done this through a file browser on the phone it will likely do this by itself)
6. enjoy
Current Known Issues:
1. The lockscreen becomes extra large and the locking mechanism is displayed slightly off screen. (you can still use it but it is very difficult to get the lock to catch)
2. the settings menu looks different, some of the text is not formatted correctly.
3. the keyboard overlaps slightly. (it is still usable but you might hit a soft button occasionally when going for the space bar)
4. this appears to take away the additional items on the reboot menu.
5. more of a downside than an actual bug and its likely implied but this takes up an extra little bit of your screen.
6. It made me re-sign in to google I cant say this will happen to everyone.
7. probably quite a few more bugs I haven't found yet.
Please feel free to let me know of any additional bugs you find.
Special thanks to Neobuddy for an awesome ROM
and of course to evilisto for the Idea.

Changing the screen density would work but it also causes some app compatibility issues.
Mostly small issues like the apps not filling the screen.
But I am hoping to find a workaround that does not require this.
Of course if your already changing screen density then this shouldn't be a problem for you anyways
I'll play around with it and update the op with the correct density for those who want to go that route for now.
Thanks for the feedback guys.

Change density + market enabler = problem solved??
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
The market actually works it just makes you sign back in once after installing the mod.
And I'm not entirely convinced it wasn't just a fluke.
I've been playing with LCD density changer from the market and it doesn't seem to be changing the home screen for me randomly.
It does make the keyboard a bit smaller but pushes it to the left.
I'm still playing with it though.
Hopefully I'll find a good setting
Does anyone use a density changer on ics?

Yeah I don't want to just flash this and be like ehhhh and then revert it... I want to be able to have a switch to turn it on and off, that'd be great, but its a bit hard to implement i would guess.
I'm still working on it but progress is slow during the week because of work. And my sister is getting married this weekend.
I expect to work on it a lot more next weekend. Although with any luck I'll get something working sooner.
Basically I've found that enabling the soft buttons seems to enable all tablet oriented options even when they are specifically set to off.
I'm currently trying to find a workaround for that.
I did find a couple other fun but mildly pointless options as well like allowing the lock screen to rotate.
Or disabling the screen turning on when plugging or unplugging the phone.
But I'll play with those a bit after I get the soft buttons fully working.

+1 billion.
Download Nova launcher and then you can put an icon on your homescreen that let's you get into the multitasking menu with one press.
It will work with TW too.

ive read the description of nova launcher but couldnt find anythinga bout multi tasking. can you explain a bit more?
Not only nova you can have it in apex too, in fact you can simply bring the recent apps menu by making a swipe gesture on home screen
《tapatalked from galaxy s3》
I'm not sure if it works on the gs3, but I use an amazing app on my transformer prime called gesture control.
It basically allows you to define actions by using gestures.
You can define two, three, and four finger gestures.
It really is great. Needs root though.
So you can define a gesture for bringing up the multitasking menu and it works throughout the whole system anywhere.
You don't have to be on the launcher homescreen .
Here's the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodmooddroid.gesturecontroldemo
tried apex launcher but couldnt get it to work when im inside an app. ill try gesture control. anyone else have any suggestion for me
anyone can give me suggestion on a great gesture app that can open the recent app from anywhere?
Wave launcher is also cool multitasker. Quite different though.
Also looking for this, something like zephyr for IOS that works inside apps. It allows to close an app just sweeping from bottom to top.

i tried the app and it worked great. Can I ask what the risk of enabling usb debugging is? Im kinda paranoid of what it does, also can you suggest to me what good gesture is best to bring up the recent app list?
What does usb debugging do?
I don't understand why you don't just want to hold home? Plus when on this screen if you swype to left or right the preview is binned.
As for killing apps, Android runs on linux, linux manages ram very well and indeed runs better when you don't keep closing things all the time, it caches processes to save you time and battery when you next need them!
I use a app called "multitask shortcut" which is awesome and it only cost .50 dollars. It doesnt work inside apps though. I wish there was something like Zephyr for Android. It was awesome on the iPhone.
Idk if this has been mentioned yet, but i use this feature everyday...no more swiping the top of the screen to adjust brightness level.
Is there a new shortcut for this? It's very handy.
oh man are you serious?? I too use this feature ALL the time no joke... hmm maybe I should put off this update? lol. Can someones else with ICS please confirm this?
Unfortunately it is indeed gone (I used it very often before, too).

I just went back stock and updated today and can confirm it's no longer there. I noticed the same with the ICS leaks that have been out recently but just thought it was something to do with being a leak.

Do you all really not look in the market or on google for apps or do you just come here for answers cause you don't wanna take the time to look? Here is an app that does exactly what you want. You can control brightness by swipeing the top, bottom or side, your choice. It can also bee seen or you can make the bar transparent https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rubberbigpepper.DisplayBrightness&hl=en
There is another app, Notification Toggle which mimics that of the 15 toggle mod that we were seeing around a bit before. You can put it in your status bar so all you do is pull down and set brightness from there plus a whole mess of other stuff.
Hope you enjoy.

I like pie because of all the options plus you can keep your screen free and clear and also can pull it up at anytime, no matter what apps you have going. The only thing I don't like about it is I can't find a way to link my apps menu to it other than that its awesome. You can have up to 10 slots and have a secondary function for each slot. Also you can change the colors to match whatever theme you are using.

Using glovebox and I love it! I actually completely removed my dock from my home screen because its so awesome. The purpose of the dock is for quick access to commonly used apps but you still need to go back to the home screen to get there. With glovebox you can get there with one less step and only one gesture instead of two actions in the case of side bar (open the bar then select). The best part is it works while in any app.
I've tried sidebar and swapps. I didn't like the look of swapps.
I have not tried LMT but with PIE coming to CM I think I'm going to skip it,

Knock is pretty awesome. Dynamic is nice and is almost there. I own both tbqh. I'm using knock now though due to its more reliable breathing function. I like both a lot.

well i got knock and for what time ive used it, i do prefer it to dynamic
Hi,
I used Knock² for a few day now. It works great for me.
But I got two problems:
1. The content of a new Whatsapp message isn't shown, this makes the app useless to me, because I can tell what kind of message I received with the Notification LED. I hope this isn't a limitation from whatsapp...
2. The Notification isn't cleared when I press the "clear" Button.
I already contacted the developer about this issues. He hasn't answered yet.
I've been using dynamicnotications since it came out just after the Moto X and I like it better because it more closely simulates the Moto X. Also, I have a lot more control over the look and behavior, and can set it to breathe off after 6 seconds, then breathe back on every 30, or at whatever frequency I like. Knock is much less configurable regarding look and behavior.
Just tried knock and it's cool, very colorful (which might end up taking more battery) but def not the Moto X experience at all.
I'll stick with dynamic and see if he incorporates the laundry list of tweaks I suggested to make it even more like the Moto X.
Do we know if these apps truly use the battery-saving gains of not activating amoled black pixels?

Knock won't work with alternative lockscreens, says the description on google play.
Since today I'm using active display.
I think it's a great feature when it is directly integrated in your ROM.

Very nice. I hope CM 10.2 or AOKP 4.3 add this. I wonder if I can add myself to one of these and recompile? I'd have to do a bit of research first. Heh.
I purchased both. DyanicNotifications is not as pretty but it works, Knock2 is always really flaky on my old Note2 on multiple roms and also on my Note3 stock.
To me, DynamicNotifications does a great job of replicating the Motorola implementation. Knock2 has a completely different look/style/etc.
For this, I like DN, it's simple and true to the original. Works great on GNex. Now I have N5 so without amoled, it's not happening. I'll stick with my LED notification. I like turning on this beautiful screen anyway.
