[Q] How to image internal SD - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Gents,
Got a bit of a strange problem. A few weeks ago I flashed resurrection 3.1.3... so far so good. Yesterday I watched some pictures with my friends. Today ALL my pictures and other jpg. images are gone. Just vanished overnight... Not only from my external SD but also from my internal SD. It's unbelievable!!!
The map structure on my external SD is still intact. Mp3, pdf etc. are still there but everything with extension .jpg is gone. Strangest thing is that the image map of WhatsApp on my internal SD is empty as well. Tried to recover the pics on my external SD with DeCuVa (put SD card in card reader) and for some it worked. Unfortunately all the recovery progs don't recognize the internal phone SD because you don't see 2 removable drives like it used to be with earlier versions but you see the phone device.
Does anyone know with which prog I can clone my internal SD so I can try to recover the pics on my internal SD as well. Or maybe another sollution???
thnx a lot!!!
ciao

[Q] Apps use internal storage as SD card, can not see actual SD card

New Atrix, unmodded. Tested on default storage setting set in either internal storage, or sd card.
16g sd card.
Card contains music, books and pictures.
File manager of the phone can see it and folders on it just fine, music player can see music files on it just fine.
Market bought music player( Power Amp) does not see SD card, it can only see internal storage as SD card.
Cool Reader- same- it thinks internal memory is SD card.
Neither can browse to the SD card.
Both apps worked with droid x and nexus s phones succesfuly before.
Apps that have ability to browse internal memory (tiny player and fbreader)- can go to /sdcard-ext/ and find files there.
Is there any way to make sure that apps, that are built to use SD card for their media would be able to see and use SD card, instead of "virtual" SD on the Internal Storage?
Thank You

Hi,
I had the same issue with a app called Slideshow Bob. I came from a Samsung Captivate and the file system was such that the external card was seen as a subdirectory of the internal card. I never had a problem with this arrangement in apps. However, the Atrix sees the external card as completely separate and some apps simply could not "see" the external card. My solution? I used a different slideshow app. Not exactly the ideal solution, but I had spent enough time trying to work around it. I don't know how other android devices have the external card arrangement, but this may be a bigger issue than we'd like until app developers change their apps or Motorola decides to change it's storage arrangement. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your answer,
using different apps is a work around.
I used different one- moved my content to the internal storage.
Both work.
What I realy would like to see is - those apps work as intended, the way they do work in most android phones from Droid to Nexus S.

Has anyone tried to replace the Music folder on internal storage with a symbolic link to the Music folder on external? Not sure if Android supports symbolics or not...
Should have known it would'nt be this easy. Tried it on existing SD and found that symbolic links are not supported on FATx. Reformatted my SD to EXT3/2 and booted back up. I get a SD format not recognized error.

[Q] Missing audio after transfering

Hello all.
I just recently transferred my audio files from sd card to external sd card. Some of the files have been transferred but the others 2 gb worth have disappeared "on route".
Does anybody know where they could be, or if there is a way to recover these files.Thank you.
others 2 gb worth have disappeared "on route"
Check the route see if any have gone elsewhere was it a USB transfer .
Try RECUVA to see if you can recover missing files from phone .

Thanks for the reply. I have just run Recova and hasn't found anything on the ext sd card. I would like it to read the internal sd card but it can't do that.
Just to clarify. I moved 2gbs of music from the internal to the external sd so as to create more space. I did this via pc.
Some of the music arrived ok but a lot didn't, and it is not showing up in the internal or external sd card...

If your external sd card has guarentee, i recommend going to service. Other then that, you can try searching sd card formatting tools on google and try formatting it.

Memory Error - Memory write protected. Could not edit files. Need Help Me?

Hi there, I have formatted my micro mini sd card a lot of times, a few quick formats and a few hard formats. I've tried to erase all data on sd card is well, still shows files on card. When I view my photos I've captured it comes up like a paint brush brushing over my entire photos grey. Then it says sd card unmounted. If I turn phone off and back on, I go into my gmail to save images and then my images come up corrupted once I view them in my gallery. Takes a while to load. I've tried the regedit stuff, disk management stuff, disk list stuff. Haven't found any of those to work. I have a 32gb mini micro sd card in a Sony Xperia Arc S LT18i. Please help.

Hello.
Seems like the floppy old school problem: the file system corrupted. Something is going bad on the sdcard, have you tried format that sdcard on another device, and try to save images from there? If it keeps doing that error, itˋs the sdcard which is corrupted. If not, the phone. But I wouldnˋt put in risk future files, I would throw away that sdcard. Can get problems in the future.
Saludos.

Moto E Can't See Files (Photos/Videos) on Internally Formatted SD Card

Hello,
So I have a problem. I took a photo and was trying to upload it on WhatsApp but my phone would not let me. I checked my Gallery and it said 0 Pictures/Videos. The phone decided to delete (or hide) all my pictures and videos. Now, when I go into my phone's Settings/Storage and USB/SD Card, I can see that there is data worth 3.6GB that is taking space on my SD card but it's not showing up anywhere.
I tried to re-scan my SD card using the "media Re.Scan." app but it didn't work. I have been wracking my brains at it for a couple of days now.
I just want to know if there is any way to force my phone to read the data that is there on my SD card, or to recover those pics and files that are hiding on my SD card. Please note: My phone is not rooted and I formatted the SD card as an internal storage so it only works on my phone. I cannot connect it to my laptop (Macbook). I tried to connect the phone with the USB cable and it does not show up on my laptop at all.
Please help! I need my pics and vids!
Thanks in advance!
