S3 won't boot after installing cyanogenmod 9.0 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, so I have recently rooted my Galaxy S3 and I wanted to install cyanogenmod. I used ROM manager to do so.
The problem is that as soon as I installed it, my phone supposedly rebooted but it never started up again!
Now all I get is a flashing "menu" and "back". I can't boot normally, or in download mode, or in odin mode.
I have nothing any more and I don't know what to do, I'm really starting to panic here.
Can anybody please help please?!

i'd suggest you post this in the forum for the S3 and not the general q/a forum.
I know on the S2 rom manager is a big no no. not sure about the S3.

Thing is... if you can't get into recovery and you can't get into download mode and you can't boot into a rom, I think you have a paper weight no matter the device.
what did you mean by "flashing menu and back"? take a picture and post it.

I'm confused how a ROM affected download mode lol

I'm guessing he used rom manager to install cwm. installing recoveries can affect boot partitions.

try pulling battery and rebooting into download mode again (volume down, home, and power button i believe, google it just to make sure)
from there use Odin to go back to stock

you can screw up the hardware drivers by flashing the wrong kernel which in turn can impact download mode. we see it all the time in the epic touch forums because people think that the s2 and the e4gt variants are interchangeable. so yes. you can software brick by flashing rom/kernel/recovery.

Galaxy S2 not booting

Hello i got mine galaxy s2 since 3 days i made the phone root and installed rom manager and now i wanted to install clockworkmod i followed the same steps put picked other PDA the .tar of clockworkmod when i was transfering the files with Odin in download mode it said that it failed and mine phone was stuck so i had to reboot.
And now when i want to start it a phone with monitor is showing.
its like
Phone >>!>> PC
I tried to boot it while it was connected to mine phone and without.
I cant even get in the download mode.
Is there a anyway to make mine phone boot up again.
I can't do anything right now, a bit confused and scared since its a new phone.
And is mine guarantee also gone now? after making it root?
EDIT:
I can get in the download mode but cant boot normally.
EDIT2:
Tried to re-do the ROM'ing and now it doesn't want to transfer the file to mine phone it gets stuck at the download screen at download mode

What everyone is trying to say is you should be posting in the S2 forums, not the Fascinate forums. Anything you find here will not work for your phone and could potentially brick it

Need some help with a hard brick: FIXED

I was on uclc3 and was trying to root so i could flash one of the custom roms based on the newest leak. I must have screwed up cause it would not reboot. I could get into cwm at first but as itried to reverse now I cant get it to do anything. All it will do is charge off the pc. I bought a mini usb jig but that wont be here til friday. What do i do once I get that? I still have the one click uclc3 odin file, can i use that? Thank you far any help.
Update: The micro usb jig forced the phone back into download mode and I was able to run the UCLD3 odin tar...its the only one I had. Just a note I bought the jig for the Galaxy S2 cuz I could not find one labeled for the Note.
Thanks for eveyones input
Can't get into cwm the conventional way? What rom did you try to flash?

Cant get into download mode or cwm. I tried flashing HYPF rom based off the newest ics leak
You mean hyfr? The only one rom? Hmmm. That shouldn't have bricked it. I know it sounds stupid, but have you tried to charge it to see what happens?
Edit: if you meant hypf then you may have flashed and international rom.

If u hold volume down and power after first vib release power keep vol down
U are gonna need Odin..
Download stock att rom its a 463mb rar file
Odin back
As long as you have that and didn't wipe boot loader u can revert

Yes is was the only one rom. I think the problem started before I flashed it though cuz it wouldnt boot after i put the cwm on it. i think i should have flashed superuser zip first. i dont know what wiping the bootloader means but im hoping the micro usb jig can get me back to download mode than i can use the odin to flash the stock rar. thats my plan at least.
Well good luck. Keep us posted.

No one can help you unless you provide enough useful information about what you have done. You should have read and learned enough to avoid making a mistake in the first place, but if you will tell us what you have done, maybe you'll get some help. What exactly did you flash with Odin? Provide a link to it? You did not get the warning on boot from flashing stock. What method did you use to try to enter download mode? To try to enter Recovery?

That's not a galaxys2root produced file. That is the straight stock Kies file which they downloaded from SamFirmware or Samsung Updates. That didn't cause the problem.
You say you can now not enter either download mode or recovery?
Don't do a wipe data with that installed if you do get into recovery!

I'm not sure why your phone is having problems. You should be able to just flash stock and start over. If it were my phone, I would flash UCKH7 stock plus root, install a Gingerbread custom kernel, and then pick a firmware from the development forum. If you choose to follow that path, be sure to open the Oden window first before putting your phone into download mode. If you need additional information, there is plenty of help in the guides and threads linked in my signature.
I have flashed the firmware you would have flashed and it is in a boot loop with the att boot image

Honestly I want to help you buddy, but because you neglacted to read anything before you did this, this is your fault!
Yep very old. I cant believe that Koush hasnt figured something out for this yet. He fails too. CyanogenMod has always pushed ROM Manager, even tho most devs state not to use it.
OP: Get into download mode, and flash another, PROPER, kernel with ODIN or Heimdall.
Then use CWM to flash things.
I's in good mood today?

Wish you good luck with that. Jtag takes a fair amount of dexterity for the micro soldering, and some fairly expensive equipment. If you are unable to get it done yourself, the owner of Mobile Tech Videos will perform Jtag recovery for about $50.00.
I sincerely hope you know that the method for getting into download mode on I777 is to take out the battery, plug normal portion of USB into computer already running Odin, then hold both volume buttons and plug in micro USB side to phone.
If that really does nothing for you, then try mobile tech videos.
i777 soft bricked, boot loop never goes away...
I bricked my samsung galaxy s2 i777 by trying to flash a rom via rom manager. While it was installing it, it rebooted and got stock on boot loop.
It can go into download mode but never to recovery or beyond.
I tried every solution recommended out there, like flashing stock kernel, stock rom, different roms, siyah kernel, oneclick unbrick, and you name it. I tied ADB but it does not recognize the device, nor does oneclick unbrick.
Somehow I need to go ahead and wipe everything but since I cannot get to recovery, I cannot wipe it, and every time I flash something via Odin, it goes through the whole process successfully however once it reboots after flashing, it is in bootloop again. All I see is samsung galaxy sII logo window.
Any solutions?
Thanks!

A simple way to get the i777 into download mode:
unplug the usb cable
turn the phone off
hold only the volume down button
insert usb cord
Almost instant download mode.

I'm not saying it won't work, but the fact that you've got a file from gs2root shows your inexperience and/or lack of concern for the well-being of others devices. There is no reason to take the risk of using ANYTHING from gs2root... you can get everything needed to do everything possible with this device right here from xda and have the peace of mind that it will work as expected so long as you follow the instructions.

How??? If i go to download mode start the upgrade but the phone at 100% rebooted and he doesn't power on
All I asked is if you can. I dont even understand your response. You do volume up instead of down when booting to recovery.

OK, well it appears you have been using kies. At this point you need to download Odin and flash a full factory image from samsung-updates.com

You need to do a search for that. I'm not going to retype what many guides have been made for. You may find a better guide in the Samsung galaxy S4 forums. You will need the drivers and Odin provided on one of those guide threads, plus the newest 4.4.2 factory image for your region.

Okay i see what you mean..when you go into recovery or download mode your phone tries to update automatically by itself..hmm..i will have to look in to this further as i have no solution at this time for this problem..i never had this happen to me on any of the samsung phones i owned..but i will take a look into it.

Thanks, i wold be grateful because i don't know how to proceed...if you do the procedure to unbrick the samsung (but i think that isn't a good idea because the bootloader isn't compromised) or of trying to find the right moment with odin to recognize the phone
If you truly can't get into download mode at all, you may need a jig to force it
You can try this search:
https://www.google.com/search?q=usb...amsung&sourceid=chrome-mobile&espv=1&ie=UTF-8
But if its forcing update mode then the jog may just do the same thing...never heard of not being able to get to download mode due to the system attempting to continue to run update

Thats not what is being said. If your screen is not OEM there will be a problem with the system update.

If like you said the lcd screen has been replaced and if the screen is not a original samsung screen (OEM) then this could be the problem as the other members have mentioned..as the new kitkat update came out it does not support thrid party drivers for the lcd screen anymore..only original drivers signed by samsung are being used now and any lcd screen that is not original will not work anymore..until a solution is found to fix this.
Were did you buy your screen from..which seller.?
