Is there a reason - HTC Droid DNA

Hi all,
Am I missing something? Is there a point to have s-off now or wait until the devs do something with it first?

Personally, I only use out to flash kernels without a computer but I'm okay with using it so waiting isn't too bad

I'm at this part, but what is the appropriate filename they talking about?
Wait for the black HTC screen, then do this:
fastboot flash zip <appropriate zip filename from above>

The
psomething-dna.zip
Obviously with the correct letters and capitalization.

It's the zip that has your model id in the name. If you're on the DNA it should PL8320000-DNA.zip http://d-h.st/nOo
That's from step 3 in the original thread, btw. Also make sure you put the patcher from step 1 in your working folder, I missed that initially.

it keeps telling me that my device cannot be recognized or found. what am i doing wrong, i even checked my CID and its all 1's

New HTC dev code?

Had to relock s-on hboot 1.5 long story. After accepting stock ics update can I unlock again? will they give me a new code or is it a one time thing? Didn't save old email.

You'll get a new code. Just follow the same steps as before.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Best suggestion is to save it to your fastboot file easiest way to save the coffee for later the you should be able to use the same one. I've done every update through the RUU and never gotten a new code. Its been the same since day one.

Just out of curiosity, is it actually a new code or is it just going through the same process? I thought the ID that you had to send in was essentially just a unique ID for the phone itself.

You already have a thread running in q&a. Why not ask this there and give a courtesy update, to the people that were trying to help you, that you are up and running again?
sudo passwd root
Sorry pmed them wasn't thinking anyone besides those couple people who initially responded would be interested still new to all this.

Android gods, lend me your ears!!!

It's seems and I'm not when or why but Rom built it install kernels for s on phone is not loading the ph98img file, at least not for me when it use to. Also my computer no longer recognizes fastboot, I get a device not found message. The only way I've been able to install kernels is zips thru recovery then bootloader will work. This is all new, I'm not a noon but never experienced this before. All suggestions are greatly appreciate ...

This is in the wrong section. And also if fastboot doesnt work you should try reinstalling the drivers.
Edit: RUUing also helps with issues, if it will load the RUU. If not im not sure but i think you can use a exe RUU but im not sure if there are any made for ics.

Just fyi, this should not have been posted in development. So since that has been said hopefully flaming wont start.
I had issues with fastboot when using the oem cord or mhl micro usb cord. I still use a regular micro usb cord.

If you downloaded HTC sync to get the drivers then look in the bottom right corner on your taskbar and find the HTC sync icon, right click and exit it

[Q] Trying to root 2.04.605.2

I am trying to get HTC ROM EXTRACTOR from as i9000 to work on Ubuntu 12.04 but I'm not having any luck in doing so. I've done what it says at his post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2199638 and still no luck. Can anyone help me?
You can't root 2.04

I know but I was looking at this program and it lets you get the Rom file from the Ruu and mess around with it. I was thinking that if I can't get it so that when you do the Ruu update that the system file would be writable and you can use adb to root or something to that effect.

You can't go around editing the ruu file. Unless you have a couple super computers in your basement that can break the encryption

There is an available tool that allows the extraction of the RUU exe to a zip for editing. The problem is the only available RUU is pre-ota, and post-ota devices don't allow downgrades.
Another problem is that the RUU's need to be signed by HTC. I'm not sure exactly how the signature shows up in an RUU, but HTC signs them. With S-OFF the RUU signature doesn't matter, but with S-ON, it does. If someone makes their own RUU, for example a post-ota rooted phone to make a 2.04 RUU that is rootable, it won't take unless you have S-OFF...
Basically, it looks like we need to wait for a 2.04 RUU leak that's signed, then maybe extract, edit, and recompile it.
Believe me if it was as easy as you think it is, the developers would have done it already. Its not currently possible to root it.

Any way to use an RUU in ubuntu without a VM

Do you use wine or something or is there no way to do it?

scrossler decrypted the ruu.exe check it out in designgear's RUU thread in general.
What is a decrypted ruu?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Zip file removed from the exe. Should be flash able from recovery
Awesome, thanks for the tip.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Ok the decrypted RUU is the img files for the OS install. NOT flashable. I should have checked before I said what I did.
So how do you install that onto the phone?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
No idea off hand. I think it would install via stock recovery but don't take my word for it. I just use a vm on my mac to use ruu files
I think I'm just gonna go back to windows. I crashed ubuntu last night anyways.
