Ever since I flashed 4.2.2 my phone only rings once then goes silent. It happens on both 4.2.2 roms I use. Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be or does anyone else have this problem? I looked in settings, tried different kernels, different ring tones too. Went to an jb backup 4.2.1 n my ringer is fine

does it go into silent mode or vibrate? when the ringer sound goes out is it still receiving a call or is the call also lost?
i sometimes have a no sound problem after a reboot on 4.2.2 but i just reboot it again and the sound is back. im sure you may have aleady tried wiping cache/dalvik and fixing permissions...but if not give it a shot.
Yeah I tried all the above.... It goes to silent n the call still comes through

I figured out the problem. 4.2.2 doesn't play nice with CUSTOM ringtones. You have to use system ringtones. Maybe the developers will make a fix for this soon.

Anybody else have the same issue or is my phone just possessed? I have ringolite for SMS tones and when I silence the default it only plays the same ringtone over and over again and have each contact custom'd out.
Just wondering if it is me.

Never mind, finally working, lol! Hey Pert, you can delete this one, lol!
Pretty please!

Lately I've noticed my SMS/MMS Notification Sound gets cut off in the middle of playing.
I'm using the "Whistle" notification sound. It worked fine the first day I had my phone (today would be day 5 I've had it)
I've tried restarting the phone, choosing different tones, fixing permissions, clearing caches. So far nothing seems to be working
It looks like it gets cut off when the screen lights up from the notification.
Anyone else having this issue? And if so, have you found a fix (besides using a 3rd party messaging app like Go SMS). I have the Sprint variant, stock rooted (LF9)

Yeah I had the same problem
But it only happened when my wife would text me
I did the same fixes as u did thinking that would work, but it didn't so I erased that contact put it back in and now it works right
Good luck
Cheers

Wowwwwww you know what? It only happens to me when my girlfriend messages me lol. Wtf? That's so weird! Maybe it has something to do the most frequently messaged person? Gunna delete the contact and test.
Thanks!

It does this If you set a limit for incoming texts and have auto delete on. Erase all the messages when your at the limit and it will go back to normal again

Oh that makes sense. I had my auto delete set @ 120 SMS. So I'm guessing what happens is once the thread hits 120 and you get a new SMS the notification gets interrupted by the system deleting the last message in that thread to make it 120.
Well this is all very helpful. Problem solved. Thanks guys!

Another work around for this is to use zedge to assign your sound. For whatever reason, it bypasses the issue and the sound fully plays when a new message comes in.

So basically i found out that I can make custom vibrations in the settings and thats a really cool feature! What my problem is however is that when I set a vibration pattern that I like sadly the default vibration keeps on happening when I get text messages. Is there any way to fix this?

Hum tried a reboot I assume? Does it change to your custom for phone calls?

Might just be that way unless it changes to one of the other pre set options. Odd

Nope I tried changing it to the default ones and it still does not work. Is this happening to anyone else?
Yes. I've been searching for an answer...haven't found anything yet.
Hi guys,
I'm having a weird bug with SMS notifications on my S3, when I get a text it will cut short or sometimes not even play the notification sound. I've tried various tones, restarting the phone, changing the settings off - reboot - turn setting back on, but nothing is sorting it... Anyone else had this issue and been able to resolve it?
Thanks,
J
Same problem here, its totally random.
I've noticed this myself a few times as well.
I had it, I changed to a different notification sound and that fixed it. Not sure if you can go back after? Whistle annoyed me so didn't try.

Do you keep your phone screen down on a table, there's a motion settings to mute ringtones if the phone is placed screen down on a table.

I am having the exact same issue, although it only appears to do it with custom sounds that I have added, I have not been able to replicate it using stock sounds

thanks for that fireboypr. I've just bumped my message limit to see if this helps the issue and if this resolves it, will have to remember why!
One every 4.2.2 ROM I've notice that once an incoming call comes through the phone will ringer for about 3 seconds then the ringer goes out and continues to vibrate. I saw another post where someone said the issue is custom ringers but I'm using the stock sounds. Any idea how to fix this?

I don't have an issue with my ringers. I have custom ringers (mp3's), and system ringers (ogg's) and they all work and play for the duration of the rings. I have them all moved to my internal memory. Maybe that helps?
I'm currently on Paranoidkangdroid and I use to be on SOA, and FJ's with no issues either.

I never moved my stock sounds so they should be on the internal storage. Strange. I'm on slimbean now but its happen on other ROMs.

I am having the same problem and find it to be ROM agnostic. I have tried several different ROMS including JellyBam and Slimbean with the same problem of one ring & multiple vibrations.
The only thing I can think to try is to take the current preferred ringtone and, using an audio editor, create a new ringtone by copying the ringtone and paste it over & over (a few times) to create one longer ringtone.

I finally looped a ringtone using an audio editor. I looped it six times with 1.5 seconds silence between each ring and you cannot tell the difference between it and a properly cycling ringtone.
Would rather it worked properly, but this work around will do the trick.
