[Q] Poor camera performance - HTC One X+

I have a htc 1x+ from AT&T and i am hating the camera. My videos come out very shaky ( its set at 1080p ) and i get a frame rate of 20 almost every time and not more so sometimes feels choppy too. I tried 720p but did not see a big difference. is it my device or do all htc 1x+s have this issues ( feels like my iphone 4 made much better videos ). I have the so called video stabilization option enabled as well but did not see a difference in it being on or off!

Mine is no problem...I think your hand is shacky when shooting video...just hold still...try that..or just put your phone on the table...and you wave to the camera...is it choppy...try to explore....

Got my Titan !

So,after a week of waiting it finally arrived !
And now,I can barely look at my iPhone 4,it's so small
Haven't played with it much but my first impressions are
1)Fantastic build quality. The unibody construction is just awesome and it feels great in hand
2)The screen is fabulous. The colors look great and vivid. The viewing angles are very good and trust me,you won't be bothered at all with the WVGA screen.(I've had an iPhone4 for a year).
Only in sites with small texts(completely zoomed out),you'll see pixels but when I put it side by side with my iPhone,I couldn't read it on the iPhone either since it was too small. But on other sites, the text is completely readable.
IE9 is very fast and IMO,the pinch to zoom is faster than 4.
3)The camera is great and is hugely better than iPhone 4.However,after the battery got too low,it didn't let me capture pics with flash which is kinda odd.
I tested the flash in the "flashlight" app and the video camcorder and it worked fine but didn't work while taking pictures.
4)The power button is fine(At least for me).I don't have any problems reaching/pressing it;furthermore,I can work pretty easy with one hand which is great especially for such a huge display.
The on screen keyboard also rocks,I made a lot of mistakes w/iPhone but I barely make any mistake with Titan
5)Call quality is excellent. way better than my iPhone ! I had heard some static noise with my iPhone but I haven't experienced any issues with thr Titan.
Overall,it's an awesome phone. One of the best HTC has ever made !
If anyone's interested,I can do a video review/comparison with iPhone 4
The camera flash issue was because of the battery life. When the battery is too low,the flash doesn't work for taking pics
Glad to see your liking it- i got mine a few weeks ago and i agree it really is the best phone available - especially the speaker during calls is incredebly loud and clear
just make sure you turn off the sound enhancer settings - as it may cause freezing in video's and games
I did a comparison with a Lumia 800 a little while ago in store (i was considering switching from the titan to that) and while the hardware was equally as solid feeling - the loud speaker is emberassing on that phone - and the worst audio quality ive ever heared on a phone - i tried playing the same ring tone on max volume with both phones - and the titan destroyed it. both in terms of loudness and quality
Titan really is the best WP7
Titan also has better battery life/camera,slightly faster CPU and a better build quality than Lumia;furthermore, when you go 4.7",you can't even look back.
Oh and thanks for the tip.The first thing I did with my Titan was actually disabling the sound enhancer app

{Comparison} ONE X vs iPhone 4S and SGS2 - - Still Shots & Video recording!

I saw this tonight and I thought it did a GREAT job getting a full and fair comparison. I still use the One X cause the EVO LTE and it are basically the same, minus the quad and duel core.
Nevertheless im sooo happy for this phone to come out. Hopefully we wont have an occurrence like this and Apple will get its face outta its @$$
VIDEO RECORDING:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Di7wqpwYdeU&feature=related (S2)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_15S-VnRqTg (iPhone)
I think in terms of video recording it the best out of both of them.
CAMERA STILLS & VIDEO RECORDING
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHqln5R7h4w&feature=relmfu (S2)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2md6VUhoqs (iPhone)
For the iPhone i was bit confused, I can see that they have both the relative sharpness, one just has a different hue. But observing the S2 It has similar hues but the ONE X is better in contrast
What are your guys thoughts?

Everyone must be only looking at pictures on their phones.
When you look at the pictures on a PC with good display (2560x1600, for example), it's obvious it's only 4MP. Zooming in just to 125% it looks like a 10 year old P&S. LOL
However for phone "snapshots" it's great. In lower light it's better than the S4. If you have very steady hands and use night mode on the S4 that cam does OK. But it has more lag and a hit with processing delay, etc.
Video looks better than the S4, much less shaky and the audio is devoid of all the pops and clicks that the S4 has. I've had more than one S4 (both 16 and 32GB) and they all have this problem. It's the mic because the voice recorder app also has these noises.
The audio on the HTC appears lower because it's not using any background compression. I have not tested its ability to record very loud (ie concerts) events. We did have thunderstorms this evening but (of course) by the time I stopped recording is when the lightning hit across the road!
Pictures on Phones - HTC ONE!
Pictures on Computer - S4
Mainly due to megapixels. But overall I feel like the One has the better camera experience.

Yes, the sounds are actually pleasant. Usually it's the first thing I turn off (shutter, focus sounds) but the ones HTC uses actually sound like a real camera, LOL.
I came to the HTC One from a Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. Overall, I'm fairly happy with the One's camera - though I (obviously) wish it were at least 6mp or 8mp.
I got a chance to play a little with it last weekend, both indoors and outdoors. As others have said, when viewing photos on the phone the results are great. I think it may be my favorite camera out of all the phones I've had in the past. There are some drawbacks to it, though, caused by the 4mp camera - namely, as others have said, blowing up photos on the computer and extracting good detail.
Here's a link to a reference shot I used for a quick review of the camera on my Google+ profile, if you're interested:

of course htc one would be better than galaxy nexus..
has anyone noticed significant difference going from stock att 126 firmware to arhd 129 in camera quality?
It probably should be said.... If you only take photos to upload them to instagram or Facebook, you'll be more than happy with the HTC One.
By the by, if you print your photos or have an high resolution computer screen (for wallpapers you took with your phone), you might not be happy with the HTC One.

I've never met a phone camera that was a complete substitute for a dedicated camera, but (to me) the One seems to be great for a phone camera. If you want great quality photos, you really need a Digital SLR. But for everyday quick snapshots the One does as good as almost any other phone out there.
I've learned to take most pictures in HDR mode which is similar to what I did on my old iPhone.

[Q] My lumia 920 video recording is ****... why?

Hi there.
I have had this phone for a few days now. I must admit, the camera is very very good indeed. I have no complains what so ever with the still images that the camera records... its just the vids...they are way way dark.
I compared the video recording with samsung wave, S 3, note 2... and lg optimus 3d... in all the comparisons, the video turns out to be darker than any one of the ones i tested.
Is there something wrong with my unit??? I tried the few settings video recording option is loaded with, but that's that.
Can someone plz tell me what's wrong here?
because WP never had night mode, simply to nerv users
If you are shooting outdoors I have noticed if you slightly tilt you phone towards the ground it will expose a bit better compared to if you shoot it up facing the sky.
just put your phone on video and move it from facing the sky to the ground and you will see the exposure change.

LG G2 video and photo samples with originals

I've found some LG G2 video and photo samples with the originals that you can download. Photo quality seems really good but that 60 fps sample seems to run too fast? Or is it my PC??
Images here: http://optimusforums.com/threads/lg-g2-photo-samples.8836/
Video samples here: http://optimusforums.com/threads/lg-g2-video-sample.8837/
Honestly the photos and videos look and sound pretty terrible. I've seen some sample pics from Phonearena, pics from a couple korean sites, and video samples from other testers besides these. The photos are grainy, have drab colors, blur a lot, and seem to be constantly overexposed and over-contrasty losing all fine detail where all grays turn black and all bright shades turn white. The videos have LG's trademark OCD autofocus that keeps on bouncing and bouncing even on a perfectly still scene and all the image problems the photos suffer. The audio capture is grating and reminds me of the horrible audio capture of the GS3 and older HTC phones. I'd rank the camera chops below even last gen flagships.
Other than the amazing screen and thin bezels, the rest of the LG G2 is shaping up to be another copycat follow everyone else half effort. Poorly implemented OIS that barely exists (worse than even the HTC One), the same unimpressive 13MP camera from last year's Optimus G that many websites said was worse than the 8MP version, the same cheap plastic build but in this case you can't even remove the battery or expand storage space, and little in the way of innovation besides ho hum spec bumps.
I am mostly disappointed in the camera, as this is the year of the Lumia 1020's 41MP camera, Galaxy S4 Zoom's 10x zoom and large sensor, Xperia Z1 with 1/2.3" sensor, Oppo N1 which I am very siked for coming next month, a big camera bump for the iPhone 5S, a 13MP OIS camera from Samsung on the Note 3 which will surely be better than this, Motorola's ClearPixel, and HTC's Ultrapixel. Even though everyone is trying to compete with better camera's, LG just stuck with last year's lackluster faux 13MP one and tacked on a barely there OIS.
Cue ignorant or willfully in denial comments about not final firmware and prototype hardware and yada yada yada. I've been listening to the same excuses for years for dozens and dozens of phones from Nokia and HTC and Samsung and LG and whoever. You get what you see. That's that. The Lumia 920 isn't going to get any sharper looking even after a year of updates. The Xperia Z noise and terrible JPEG algorithm isn't going anywherer. The grain in that smaller Lumia 1020 sensor will be there forever. The cartoony smeared and overprocessed HTC pictures will stay that way. And LG's photos will always look like they were recorded on a VHS tape and played back on an old tube TV. Prototypes, pre-launch hardware, post-launch, hardware made a year later with a year worth of updates, same thing.
Photos when you zoom in to them look over sharpened and compressed. I agree that LG could have done better there with the camera. 920 OIS seems to be one of the best where the G2 doesn't seem that effective. Much like the HTC OIS. But if you look around on the youtube videos some 1020 and 920 videos are shaky and other less. I wonder why that is? Some people have steady hands where others don't?
Edit: New video up that shows the OIS does work now.

Sigh not impressed either. I think katamari is right.
Sux cuz my s3 screen is broken and waiting for a worthy update. S4 is not an option, i hate pentile amoled and Samsung didn't learn from the s3. Reason enough for me to abandon Samsung.
HTC has ridiculous built in social shiat, not an option either.
I want a full hd full sub pixels display below 5inch. G2 was an exception cuz of the thin bezel. And to all the brands that bring out new high end phones without full hd display... well, see you next year maybe.

I hate that about them... well did. Then I just rooted and uninstalled all that social crap that I don't use.
idk, i love my GS4 camera and think it easily kills my DNA, and the one in general, and the G2 looks to have pretty much the same quality as the GS4...so i'm excited.

I've owned the S4 and I would say they are indeed about the same quality now. Video is only better because it shakes around less than the S4 due to the OIS. Its somewhere between the HTC one and 920 OIS. In the middle of the two in terms of OIS preformance.
Sound wise the LG G2 picks up too many high frequencies noises at times.
The sony Z1 we don't even know about that camera yet. So how can we comment on it.

i'm excited. the audio in videos on the S4 was great; i record guitar videos from time to time, and the S4 rocked..i hope the G2 will be good, too!
Sample Photos - GS3 Comparison
I am the recent owner of an LG G2 and I was comparing the photo quality to my old GS3. I only did a few situations, but I thought I should share the results if anyone else is interested. GS3 photos taken @ 8MP and G2 photos @ 13MP.
The GS3 is definitely better at focussing on close objects.
I have some HDR and non-HDR versions there (it's easy to tell them apart). The GS3 HDR seems to be more aggressive, which can often result in a significant loss of contrast.
I also tested the OIS on the G2 by holding the phone with a shaky hand and taking burst shot photos, and it didn't seem to be very effective.
My photos (downsized to 1080p) are here:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0Bwrp4uluZCpNT19ObXhfZ1pwc2M&usp=sharing
The G2 takes very appealing photos IMO, and it's a step up from my GS3. They could be better, but I still think it's great for a phone.
