Hi,
can anybody tell me if the Xperia U can be used with UOT Kitchen? The XU will get ICS in the next days, normal stock rom, rooted.

Just to be clear. It is possible to modify the systemUI.apk and the framework-res.apk in the UOT Kitchen? In the devices list what I choose?

it is a XU in my family. it was bought some days ago with GB and we will have a look at the phone before we decide to take it or not. Until this decision is made we do not want to change the firmware.

You can use to modify system.Apk and resource file using uot kitchen but that would require you to root your fone.....

OK. I know that I have to be rooted and that I have to push files manualy, my question was, in the devices list we can't choose "Xperia" (see attach) or something like that so...how did you do to get it right?
Thanx in advance

select anything from there but you wont be able to flash it...... just make modifications upload both files and the download the .zip files and then extract the system.apk and resource file from the zip copy to sdcard and the use any root explorer to xopy both these files to their default location and then set permissions......
make sure to backup both the original files.......
One more thing just copy both the files you have extracted to system folder first then change permissions to rw-r--r-- and the move to app and framework folder respectively......

i just did it again, this is the way...
extract the all the drawable-ldpi folder and look at the last pic.tha t is the one you want to replace.then put it back to the .apk!
dont do it via adb or while the .apk is in a .zip
it has to be just framework-res.apk in the desktop

no need to zip or anything
just put it back like you would in any other folder.
just:
1 open apk with 7zip
2 replace the wallpaper
3 make sure you did it (close the 7zip window and check the wallpaper again
4 close the window and push the apk to the phone

Wrong answer...
You could be right, but no...
That are not the default themes...
I think you should drag and drop the files from your theme into the framework file and compile and sign. That should do it.
Or do you mean a theme enabled by default but not default theme?
Greets!

Hi,
check for what exactly ?
there is nothing special .. as I said .. if I flash the ROM and the theme separately then every thing is ok ...
all I did was replace the files in the zip..and then I get stucj at bootanimation.
I didn't sign or compile...
I have a theory : the SystemUI has a battery percentage and the apk has new files in it... could it be the problem ?

First: to clarify;
you have a couple APKs for your Tab.
You place them in a flashable zip, flash, bootblock
you have a ROM for your Tab,
you grab the .zip, and replace the theme APKs, flash, and it works?
THat is really strange...
Hi,
thanks for answering me mDroidd ...
I found the problem.. it is the SystemUI.apk
I copied all the theme files to my ROM zip except that file and the device boot ok.
why does this file need to be flashed in a separate zip ?
is there another way ?

I've been wanting to try the kitchen out to see if I can try deodexing and zipaligning etc on the stock touchwiz ROM I'm running.
Do you think it would work? (despite it being discontinued)
yes it works still, works on ics & jellybean (i use it myself to deodex and zipalign)

Yes dxixda kitchen works but you will need to add another file with gs3 parameters in the edify_defs folder with name m0..still the updater-script does not work . It gives me errors in the installing boot.img stage.. . Anyways you can use the kitchen to create your rom and then package your rom manually using updater-script and update-binary from some other working rom.. Then sign it..
If you or anyone finds a solution to that problem do let us know..

Deodexing will work just fine..no probs..some times you might get an error with one or two apps..just use the option to deodex a single app and you will be good to go..
:good:
Edit:
Most important change the api level to 16 before deodexing..
just make a copy of your zipped rom, drop it into the working folder, deodex the files you want to and then pull those files out of the working folder and drop them into the original rom zip folder (minus the original odexed files)
no need to change anything, no need to drop new files in or mess with update script
as you will use your existing update script/meta inf folder blah blah blah, it means you can say yes to the mods the kitchen wants to make as you will only be taking the deodexed files from there, nothing else
(does that make sense? - im guessing you will ignore this anyway like my previous post))

Sorry for dragging out an old thread but I thought I would have a go with this. I have the kitchen installed, I have put I9300XXDLI5_I9300OXADLI5_I9300XXDLI5_BTU.zip in the original_update and have the m0 file in tools/edify_defs
I then try and extract the ROM but I get an error Error: No system folder found!

Oh yeah, I forgot, the system.img must be coverted from yaffs img to an ext4 file. I believe the utility is called ext2fs (or something like it)
Dsixda's tool should provide that program anyhow.

Thanks for quick respond mate. Just what I am thinking.
I did flashing Pureness B13 apps + Timescape (from DJ JS thread) into Jelly Sandwich V6.
the result was great this was the only thing I'd like to fix for fully working tweaked ROM.
Hit the buttons for yah. Have a nice day!
Wait
Hmmm.. I did flashing it but nothing happened the problem still exist. Hmmmm... How is that now?
copy and paste stock DefaultThemes.apk or you can get some themes in neo themes and app section. fix permission to rw-r--r--. then reboot .
nah
I already flashed one mate.
Is there any difference between flashing and copy & pasting?
I think there is nothing. Same effect, it only differs in execution.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes they have the same effect..
The only difference between the two is that flashing is done of the zip file which automatically replaces the apk files with the right permissions..
Whereas the other way is manual.. You have to manually copy the apk file into the root directory and apply the permissions by yourself!
