Well, it seems that Ubuntu Phone OS is based on CM10, so maybe it will work when we have a working CM10
Sent from my Xperia U using xda app-developers app
without sources of ubuntu (cant find sources there, to built it) no go
Even the nexus has just a preview release of ubuntu
How can we expect it to run on novathors without sources?? :/
The porting guide will be out today: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
wait 15h
porting guide is out
Porting guide is online: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
The rom is based on cm10.1, I guess it's quite hard to build it for Xperia U.
No cm10 is available for xu... How come are we going to start a project based on cm10.1 ??
Thread is way too optimistic...bt not practical
yes and 10 cm is not yet sony remain on cm9 I think
We have to push st-ericson to get sources. If we get it we will can make 4.1 4.2 and Ubuntu os. What do you think about petition to ST-Ericsson?

I don't know but.. what we have left??
Edit:
We must send petition to provide sources to St-ericsson not to Sony
Awwwww And here I came in thinking I could flash Ubuntu based OS on my phone . /sarcasm
IMO Don't think petition will work... Already tried that. Failed miserably. : (
Though i think I do remember seeing something about the FXP recieving (atleast a part - including some of the blobs required for Microphone/RADIO/A2DP). So maybe that might work. (Still a terribly long shot. )
Maybe possible in a year or year and half I'd guess. Assuming that CM10 on XU would be somewhat usable by November or something (hopefully).
When Android reaches the version 5.0 or 5.1 we would be able to run CM10 and probably CM10.1 on Xperia U... or maybe not.

I've been trying to gain some knowledge about building android from source but i'm not sure where can I get the jb sources for my device xperia mini st15i and I'm confused about what are the commands i should use to compile a jb rom specifically for my device. I also would like to know where can I get the driver binaries for my device . I've been googling it for more than two weeks with no luck .
Forgive me if the things I asked above sounds ridiculous because as of now I myself am very much confused about building from source .
I hope you people can help me clear my confusion! Thanks!
edit:
My humble request to devs and users is that can anyone with the proper knowledge post a tut on how to compile aosp Rom from source for xperia devices particularly st15i so that we can Learn it. What are the files and how to edit it in source code to build a bootable working Rom for xperia mini st15i and also the driver binaries needed for device to work properly or with minimal bugs . Not aokp or cm just pure aosp. I'll be really thankful if you take it into consideration. Right now there is not even a single tut for xperia devices to compile from aosp sources (according to my knowledge)(if it exists please post the link!) .Thanks for spending your time in reading my request.

Thanks for the support man, I was searching for tut for building from aosp sources and was really disappointed not to find not even a single tut even remotely explaining about building Rom for xperia devices from aosp sources. Given that xperia devices are in mainstream development it's disappointing not to find any tut on this regard.

Hello folks!
why we dont have a 3.X.X linux kernel for our Xperia devices?
what is needed for it?
note: I'm not a Low Level Developer and do not understand much of it

Googling i found it How build a linux kernel to Xperia Device and The Xperia Open Source Archives
this can be useful?
the second one might be useful . But Sony has not said anything about releasing sources. I think it ll just discontinue support and concentrate on 2012 devices, which have received 3.0 kernels.

is it really hard to open the kernel sources or building a soft unguaranteed version of 3.x kernel for sony ? they are making kernel for 2012, and when they have a good working 2012 device kernel, is it costly to make their coders to port (etc.) this to 2011 and say:
hey you wanted a lot and there is an example we made, you can put something on it and make better...
this is really annoying that knowing your hardware can handle a software but producer is not allowing it....

The Story of Android. And at least we have international versions. This is worse for people who have network locked phones.
Also, there are a number of factors considered. Sony would rather push jb update on their new phones faster than work on old phones that aren't even on sale now.

Why the fu*k will someone want "SDE", if you will need to unlock bootloader to install that? (and in some causes unlock the phone to have bootloader unlocked).
jelly bean rom uses jelly bean kernel, right? We only have official ics kernel, unless sony releases jelly bean for 2011 devices which I doubt.. so you will need custom kernel, and if you unlock bootloader, since your phone will be "free", why not install aokp rom or cyanogen instead and apply a similar to semc theme? It's the same sh*t..
I was an x8 user and never liked this rom. Just a ****ty cm7, with semc theme (and probably some mods on framework-res.apk, but even I can do that) and a different logo on kernel..
I'm just saying, it will be just another rom based on cm, nothing new..
P.s: want real DEVS ? Search for racht, nobodyAtall and doixanh. They're legen... wait for it.. dary!

Hi, i agree with your point, really !
but you dont know what SDE is, i am not moding the rom and not editing framework-res
SDE source are similar to Sony firmware source, ther was many clone of my work on x8 thread you shuld used another clone that is themed
in fact you can open the rom and lock into the apps they are not edited and they are original sony apps with diferent signature key
the SDE sources bigest advantage is the framework, not the framework-res but all framework files and they are not edited after the rom was created but in the original source then builded
lock into my signature to see the links of devices that i support and take a lock into the xperia x10 one cause it has everithink working
on x8 in the past we had the problem with drm so somme apps like semcmusic that are depanding was not working and replaced them by other apps
but now even on xperia x8 i fixed the problem by porting the ICS drm code and make it compatible with semc apps,
you are talking about nAa, yes a good friend and his kernel v14 is released specially for my rom with ics drm support, and the source code was sent by me to him, you could ask
sony apps and framework are using a call method and somme other feature inside the framework that original aosp cm and aokp rom havent, you could see all other rom based on cm aokp or aosp with semc theme and app cant never tray to be the rival of SDE rom
they edits app doing hacks, i traying understand what changes sony has done and adding them into CM, but i stoped to work on CM now
my future version is based on aosp will include many features from aokp and cm
and creat somme other features specially for xperia devices,
the only think thats not god on SDE its that its for now based on CM so it cant be poplar and made confusion and many think its a themed rom but its not
if you want you can pm me will explain everithink and show you somme of part of my work too
just now tray to take a cm rom and add the semcgenericuxpres.apk on it and add the line in build.prop to enable and you will see that it will not work as android not support 2nd framework app but on sde it work , how ? i has donne changes into assetmanager to load the 2nd framework file and after compiling it it become the libutils.so so i think you know no one can edit a .so file only you can build it and make change be knowing developement and not only knowing but understanding and you need to be good also
cheers
Achotjan
ok guys its time to end this, pleas OP ask to a moderator to remove the thread
not cause i decided to stop the work but cause the title is wrong
i will never make a cm10.1 version for 2011 even cm10
but SDE android 4.1.2 yes next version will be based on AOSP and will have CM and AOKP features and somme extra features too
so SDE based on CM its over !
cheers
Achotjan

No itcwont,st15i has hardware 2 times better then your device(x8,ako kupis ovaj mobitel, jasno ces vidjet),because xperia mini and other xperia 2011 have officialstock sony ics, which means it is above the minimum for cm9 and 10.our phones have 500 mb of internal and 380 of external.Facing the fact that there wont be sde for our xperia 2011 mdpi line makes me cry. :crying:

Hello & First of all 'HI' to all the members of XDA-Forum!!
I have been visiting this forum recently since i got my XU.
I want your help in flashing the JellyBAM ROM on my XU coz am still a newbie in flashing stuffs. I have certain queries which when answered will result whether I should flash it or stay with my Stock ROM.
So first of all, details about my XU:
Model - ST25i
Firmware - Stock ICS with some minor customizations & CWM v 5 installed.
Bootloader Status - Locked
Now questions,
1) Will JellyBAM require unlocked Bootloader?
2) If yes for above question, then which data will actually get wiped during the Bootloader unlocking process? My User & System apps + Data have been backedup using Titanium Backup and are in the Internal 4GB memory. Will they also get deleted?
3) What else should be taken care of?
4) And lastly, Instructions to flash JellyBAM.
Plz do answer the questions, you need not write long detailed explanations as I have enough knowledge related to these stuffs.
Thank you very much!!
Thers no JB for xperia U.
As of right now, JellyBAM rom is not working. The original developer based it on a CM10 base but unfortuntately, he didnt notice that the branch was not booting. So till CM10 gets fixed by FXP, I dont see any likelihood of Jellybam working
Jellybean doesn't work yet on xperia u.

I don't have any experience in Development of ROM's so I really don't know but I know one thing i.e. it takes hard work to compile 3 ROM's (AOKP + Paranoid + CM) into one and make a powerful ROM.
I know that and by no means am I disrespecting the developer. His rom is by all means a really good one but I am talking about the Xperia U version. He copied over his modified files onto a non-working CM10 base. Thats the issue here.
I understand that my previous post does seem disrespectful of the original Dev but it wasnt intended. I assumed that you didnt understand my previous reply so I simplified it as simple as I could although I admit I ought to have phrased differently
Sorry if it seemed disrespectful to you or the Dev. No disrespect was intended.

The point of Doom adding the [DEVS ONLY] tag was to keep posts like these out. Yes it CAN help our device run the newer version of android as well as cut down on the things we have to change for our device.
I would love to help out but I'm not very good at developing kernels since I need more knowlage in C. Do you have an idea of what's stopping it from booting or not yet?

WooW!
Impressive, DooMLoRD has returned to the Xperia Play! : D
I have only one question ...
What benefits would bring us to reach a stable kernel version 3.4 to our Xplays??? More performance?? it may reach a Android 4.2 rom for our game???
I am anxious ..

-More Performance
-Slightly more available ram because of better management (up to 6mb)
-Less changes necessary for newer android versions.
-Therefore we will have newer roms much more stable earlier.
And a huge lot of other misc advantages that are more minor.........
-I forgot to say it would make Ubuntu Mobile much much much more easier to port (hence it's based on nexus at the same kernel version)

Started working on it, updates will go here as it progress.
Edit- Stuck here until I can figure it out.
Code:
msm7x30/arch/arm/mach-msm/io.c:162: error: 'MSM_VIC_PHYS' undeclared here (not in a function)
/home/andrew/chaOS/kernel/semc/msm7x30/arch/arm/mach-msm/io.c:162: error: 'MSM_VIC_SIZE' undeclared here (not in a function)
More than likely this is too advanced more me.
Take a look here, it seems to explain it.

Has anybody started development besides cj?

hey when upDate this kernel our progress project?
thnaks for dev for this jop
Please don't post just see if there's an update. If there is someone will post it otherwise please don't ask.
I'm sure Doom doesn't have time to work on it recently between his life and other devices he devs for. I don't tend to work on kernels or if I do I don't really work on them as much as use or build them. (I'm hoping to learn more code lanuges but I need to get my math credits up in my college.)
sorry for a late reply on this thread.
I borrowed my xpria play to my friend a few weeks ago, but he dropped it 6 times in a row, now the device won't work anymore and repair costs are pretty expensive (about 100 euro's)
So sadly i can't work on this kernel for now, till i have enough money to repair the phone.
I hope someone else will find some time to work on it, good luck DooM!!
