[Q] Galaxy S2 won’t start if after upgrading to Jelly Bean - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently upgraded my Galaxy S2 from 4.0.3 to 4.1.2, upgrade went well and everything seemed to work fine till my battery discharged.
I charged the battery and tried to start the device, I can see the initial galaxy screen (the one with the yellow rectangular) after which the screen goes “black” and the device doesn't proceed any further.
Tried to turn off and then on the device, and the same behavior.
The device will not start if for some reason it gets turned off but the device gets heated significantly even though it seem to be turned off, I can turn it on only if I get into recovery mode and restore the 4.1.2 rom from my backup
Any suggestions?

Use common sense just use Odin lol

request delete thread [Q] galaxy s2 won't stay on

Hi guys.kinda need advice. I had this s2 for 2 days, ran beautifully, benchmarks and all, gave it the works. I installed root and installed custom roms, everything went super. I was on Resurrection-remix_ics_V2.1_AOKP-B37-4.0.4 and installed SPB.Mobile.Shell.v3.5.3.Build.9885 and I was out with my daughter. I made some photos (by the way I applied the patch for the camera from resurrection) and at one time I was taking a photo and my phone turned off instantly.
after that i rebooted, it was ok, even the poto tat I made was saved but after a while when I tried to take another photo it turned off again, this time when I tried to reboot got stuck on resurrection logo. I turned it off and tried to flash the rom again on the spot.I must have had about 80% battery. Nothing. it started to turn of as soon as Samsung logo came on. Scince than I flashed about 8 times a few custom roms and 1 original for my country. I got it to turn on (today) but it turns on completely only if I keep it pluged in (comp. or wall socket) and if I try to run demanding applications it turns of. what could it be....a voltage problem of the batt, or cpu wise? I really need help. Thx If any additional info is required I will provide it.
Post this in the SGS2 device thread, you'd get more help there

Galaxy S2 turns off

Since a few days my GS2 (rooted) turns off after rebooting.
When I change battery or put it to the charger phone will turn on, but will shut off after a servable time (time varies).
I tried different Roms but all do the same.
Also chancing battery doesn’t solve the problem (its firmly placed even laying down on the table it happends(.
I`m running 4.04
even when the phone isn`t warm I do have the problem.
Please how can I solve this

All of this started when you rooted your device?
What ROMs have you flashed?
Try JB leak, if you still have problems there you could be talking hardware.
No the Phone was rooted a while de ago.
I was ussing CM 10

Try JB 4.1.2

I was experiencing random shutdowns myself on 4.0.4, it did not matter which version (Orange Branded or LQ5) so I flashed the 4.1.2 Spanish version of JB and now the phone is a lot more stable. No reboots.

you need to check in CM10 thread whether any other user faced similar issue.
check is there any app which is eating the battery if so uninstall and check. there are many threads available on battery issue feel free to search
Ive had the same problem with a S2 on 4.0.4. When wifi was turned on, the phone would randomly lock up. While it appeared that it was shutdown it was still draining battery but didn't respond to any button except when holding the power button for a prolonged time to restart the device.
However since Ive been running the the OTA JB update for around a week now the problem seems to be gone. Are there more people who had this particular problem and had it fixed with the JB update?
Flashing firmware always helps.
Factory Reset is also helpful (4.0.4's brick bug present, so read before you wipe).
@op either factory reset or go stockland.

samsung s2 skyrocket bootloop plz help!!!!

Hi,
So my SGS2 Skyrocket is stuck in a boot loop. I've have the Sky Icecream Sandwich ROM installed for a few months now, and haven't changed anything recently.
What is happening is my phone with vibrate every 2-3 seconds with a blank screen. When I take out the battery/power source, and put it back in, the phone shows the Samsung splash (not the Android splash) for a few seconds, then goes blank and does the vibrating again.
I've tried plugging it into the computer, but the power it gets from USB turns it on and into the boot loop, so I can't get it into any kind of recovery mode. I also tried the Vol+Home+Power key combo, with nothing.
Any idea what could cause this/what the course of action should be? Thanks!
The Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket are two completely different phones. This is the forum for the Galaxy S2. Go ask this question in the forum for the Skyrocket.

Haven't seen one of the slow rockets in here in a while. Good to know they're still around

[Q] Intermittent freezing and not waking up from sleep

My international Galaxy S3 started to constantly freeze, lock up and hang. So I decided to factory reset it. Then I figured why wouldn't I also switch to a custom ROM in the process. So I read the tutorials and installed Android Revolution ROM. The freezing problems have become very rare (they didn't completely go away) but this time I got an even worse problem. My phone won't wake up sometimes. It happened again a few minutes ago: The phone would ring (albeit the ringing tone came out laggy), nothing on the screen, I press power button no response, then I take the back cover off and reinsert the battery, boot the phone and look at the call logs but of course it doesn't show who called me. This is getting very frustrating. What seems to be problem?
Which version of Samsung Android were you using before?
You could try to flash official Samsung Android over your CM via Odin: and I mean 4.1.2 which is still more stable and reliable than the new 4.3 (In my opinion).
This should wipe everything on your device, and hopefully repair what's wrong with it.
Hope it helps.

[Q] possible brick?

Hey guys and gals, I think my note 2 is bricked. I am on stock rom, dont know specific builds, probably whatever is the latest update. I was using the phone friday afternoon and all of a sudden it just shut off. I tried to get it to turn back on, but it would only go to the Samsung galaxy note 2 bootup screen, then do the sounds to boot up. Then it would reboot. I did a battery pull, and it will not even make the sounds now (still get the bootup logo) then shuts off. I have searched some on the forums and I can get it into download mode and i can get to the screen where i can reboot/factory reset/ update (i have the red triangle w/ black exclamation mark). I have to hold the buttons down first and then install the battery to do either though. I have played with roms some when i had a galaxy nexus, but am a little rusty on it. I have not tried to install any roms on this phone though. Anyone know what might have went wrong/what i need to do to fix? I did a factory reset to no avail. Also, like i said, i have done some flashing if thats what i have to do, but really good directions would be great. Thanks.
