Hi,
I have a gemei G3A where i wanted to install ubuntu following a tutorial:
I have been successfull up to te moment to boot ubuntu which show me tat my kernel does not support loop device.
I have rooted the tablet sucessfully.
I am a beginner into this, and i wanted to know if it was some kernel that existed to make my tablet support loop device.
and if it does exist, a tutorial how to install tis will be fantastic.
thnaks in advance to all programer who can help me
You need to tweak your own kernel for your rom or if its too lengthy you can install coustom rom which support loop devices. Its called chrooted !

Follow the instructions at the bottom of the first post to install modaco custom rom 3.0 (the best cutom rom for everyday use imho).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=552591
Should be easy enough for anybody willing to try.
the second step refers to this: http://android.modaco.com/content/h...ng-the-patched-recovery-image-on-your-device/
and please post in the correct subforum, this is for sure not development related.
so, to install any rom i should :
1. Root my HTC
2. Install Rom
?
im little bit stupid =)))
i don't undrerstand why should i root it ? not the same as recovery ?
why should i make recovery?
what is gold card ? do i need it?
if i want istall official Rom updade should i do anything ?
install custom rom:

2.?
....
instal official rom:

you got a lot to catch up.
"rooting" means gaining administrator or superuser privileges on your phone. "root" is the administrator user of a unix system, when your phone is rooted you can execute commands as root.
first thing you want to do is install the custom recovery image as described here: http://android.modaco.com/content/h...ng-the-patched-recovery-image-on-your-device/
if you succed report back here, we'll go on from there. if you give us the information you find in "about phone" in the settings we can tell you if the (easy as childs play) instructions from the above link will work, or if you have to create a goldcard (which is a major PITA from what i read about it).
i got HTC hero; 1.5 . 1.76.405.6
if i just want to upgrade to RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.66_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver
what should i do ?
and how update radio too ?
Hello guys,
I've just finished to cook my first rom. Now I'd like to test it on my tablet, but I've figured out that in order to flash my cooked rom , I need CWM installed.
I've found just 1 version of CWM for my device (Mediacom 720i) , but when I flashed it, it just bricked my tablet.
I've read that a lot of people have problem with CWM on Mediacom 720i..
So, can anybody point me to the right direction on how to make cwm to work with my device ?
Thanks a lot! :good:

model number GT-I9100
BUILD NUMBER:ICS.g24ref_4018.20120519
I need like i ask in a prevouise post, to be able to edit or change the kernel to make it support loop devices as i want to try to install ubuntu on it.

thnaks in advance .
Hi all.
Sorry, I don't know if my thread is in the right place.,
I have a soft-bricked phone, stuck in Odin mode, because I flashed a S7390 Rom on my S7390G device. I wanted to re-stock my phone, and no S7390G can be found on the internet,( and I found none with a working phone to extract and upload this rom.)
Here is my question: I read on the internet some articles saying that some people unbricked their soft-bricked phone with a Linux for phone distro, replacing their android OS. Since I don't have a compatible rom for my device, do you think I can install Linux on this phone? Where can I donwload it? Is there a simple process (I'm a beginner and my English is far from being perfect)
Thanks for your help guys! We really need it! :good:

Unfortunately, I don't see a port of the ROM for your phone, you may be able to request a port at ubports.com or on the Ubuntu Phone landing-team mailing list.
