Does anyone know a way to get this out of the 2.1 ROM hole that it seems to be stuck in?
It runs with a Telechips TCC8902 processor and I know there forums on here for that processor and CM7 but the device we have isn't in the list so I'm afraid I'll mess it up if I do anything on there.

have the same specifications, Android version 2.1 Eclair & build description contains EM83 in both devices and they look identical! When I connect mine to Windows 7 PC and set the mode on tablet that I could reach its internal storage, in the device manager properties for USB device you can find name MID EM83 and EM83 is also mentioned in the Build description of both these tablets. I think MID EM83 is the clue to find the real manufacturer of this 8" tablet with Telechips 8902 CPU. I have searched google and read slatedroid.com & androidtablets.net but I couldn't find who is the real manufacturer or confirmed working Android 2.2 or 2.3 firmware or custom firmware ROM's. Maybe you, a person who reads this post, know? I thought it is obvious that ViewQuest Slate 8 & a-rival NAV-PA80 have been made by the same manufacturer and I tried to update ViewQuest with update provided by a-rival for NAV-PA80/NAV-PA83
a-rival.de/de/downloads/category/23-update-2-fr-a-rival-pad-80-83.html
to update my 8" View Quest Slate2 AND IT WORKED!!!. I believe this proves that they both are made by the same manufacturer or on the same platform designed for Telechips 8902 CPU. I am sure that there are other users who have 8" tablet with Telechips 890x CPU like ViewQuest Slate2 or a-rival PAD NAV-PA80 who do search for modified firmware ROM's to update their device from Android 2.1 to 2.2 or even 2.3 version. If you know were to find these custom ROM's - please let us know!

[Q] Will the gnex be a high end phone?

so will the gnex be a high end phone as in having desktop convergence? according to their website, for it to be a high end phone, it needs to have a quadcore a9 processor. otherwise it fulfills every other aspect. this phone has a dualcore a9 processor, so will there be desktop convergence. I really hope there will be I want to try it out.
Well from what I saw, every video demo etc. Was specifically the galaxy nexus. At one point I did see "a" phone connected using the desktop feature. Each phone I saw using the Ubuntu mobile has been the nexus.
Edit : I've also heard the specs released aren't final and just a figure for certain phones.

the entry specs are
1Ghz Cortex A9
512MB – 1GB
4-8GB eMMC + SD
Multi-touch
hig end specs are
Quad-core A9 or Intel Atom
Min 1GB
Min 32GB eMMC + SD
Multi-touch
so i think The Galaxy Nexus is just a "normal" UbuntuPhone device

that's OEM specs, which doesn't mean much for download/install version potentially. The values of which would have been decided are best to give the full desktop experience - including downloading alot of desktop apps. Time will tell, but I suspect desktop version will run perfectly on GNEX, or any other internal memory only phone - it's just a matter of keeping your eye on space available when you are installing Ubuntu native apps.
I'm also wondering if the Desktop Feature will simply be disabled on devices with lower than recommended specs. I have seen some Ubuntu on Android videos using a Motorolla Atrix II which has exactly the same hardware as the GNex. It ran the desktop and even Ubuntu TV pretty good considering it was early in development (1 year ago) and running ontop of Android with bridges to access the phone settings and apps.

The overall performance is good and there is no lagging of games like Subway surfers,Temple run etc..However when i tried to run Call Of Duty Strike Team it lagged a bit as it is a very heavy game.. Pictures when shot indoors have low quality..Flash of camera is not that bright..I am fully satisfied with this tablet except for one thing...As it is MTK based device ROMS for this tablet are difficult to find and manufacturer hasn't issued any new update for this device..
Overall: Tablet with good performance.Value for Money..However if you are planning to buy a tablet mainly for shooting pics and stuff don't buy it as the camera quality is not that good..The camera quality of this tablet is like Micromax and XOLO phones..

Thanks for the awesome review. As far as camera is concerned, its none of my interest (i m not going to use it as camera). What about the internal memory? is it capped at 1GB for applications? is there any workaround?

[Q] Huawei MediaPad 10 Link Custom ROM

Huawei MediaPad 10 Link is less known tablet with good specs. General specs are:
Huawei HiSilicon K3V2 1.2 GHz quad-core processor based on ARM Cortex-A9
1 GB RAM
1280x800 (1280x752 actual res.)
160 DPi
8 GB Internal Storage
S10-201U (WiFi+3G Only)
Vivante GC4000 GPU (Huawei said its "gaming" tablet i think not its lags and gives max 20 fps on basic games)
Android specs;
Version: 4.1.2 Jelly Bean API Level 18
6000 mAh battery.
Low to mid end range tablet but have no custom roms or recovery. Stock firmware is total bulls***. Lags way too much and makes tablet sometimes unusable. I wonder why anyone not intrested in with this tablet i see many people waits for it. Is there any developer works on this? If no sadly i have to sell this tablet because i cannot use due to over lagging software. (Full stock only rooted and bloatware removed without any tweaks)
IMPORTANT!
There is no Q&A forum so i have to post it here sorry for it!

[Q] help, tips and assistance needed..

Hi there xda.!
Thanks for directing me here.
Btw, im using a phone with these specs:
Starmobile Navi Specs
Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
4-inch display with WVGA resolution
1.2GHz quad-core Broadcom BCM23550 processor
VideoCore IV GPU
1GB RAM
4GB internal storage
microSD support up to 32GB
5-megapixel main camera, with autofocus and LED flash
0.3-megapixel (VGA) front camera
Wi-Fi
3G, HSPA+
Bluetooth
GLONASS
1500mAh battery
But i flash a rom to it, micromax a0910 idk if its thw right model.
Now the phone show that it only have 512mb ram instead of it actual ram which is 1gb. Is there a way to fix this? Or should i change back my rom/firmware? Can i have a list of the roms that are comoatible with my device? Is it possible to use the rom of another starmobile navi as my own rom? How?
Thanks!!
