[Root]Not Working - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

I think I lost my root after flashing a rom.
I went from Stock ICS to DeleciousSandwich rom on my
Sony Live With Walkman Phone (with rooted, cwm installed & locked bootloader)
and everything works just fine with the exception that my root apps are not working. They report an error saying root access not working
What should I do?

wrong section...

you dont lose root when flashing a "normal" rom, they already come rooted. you did something wrong!
wrong section. should be in q&a

First this is a wrong section. This thread should start on questions and answer sub forum.
Is it jelly Bean ROM? If so, install SuperSU app.

Roms come usually prerooted, you may just loose CWM after flashing one, use as others told you supersu from playstore to grant root access ( it worked for me on several apps needing root not working on my device with sony's stock ics rom with locked bootloader)

Ok, I'm a complete noob when it comes to the Xperia. However I just recently had the same issue with my SGS2 T989. I went from Slim Bean to Galaxy SBean UNICEF. When I booted back up I lost root. After a long time of searching I just decided to reroot. I went with the ODIN method with openrecovery twrp. It worked nicely and I've gained all root access back.

Lost Root access
Hey Guys,
I have lost my root access on canvas HD after installing Canvas 4 stock ROM.
I tried rooting method for both canvas HD and Canvas 4 using Motochopper, in my PC it says it was successful but when I check my phone I still don't have root access.
Any help here would be highly appreciated.
Regards,
Arya

Hi, i have had android phones for ages, up to now i have never actually rooted my phone and i think its time to
I have a samsung galaxy s2 with ics 4.0.3 from orange (branded)
I found a very easy looking guide to root my phone (up to now i just want to root and not put any custom roms on)
the link is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
Can anyone tell me, if i root using this very easy looking method, will my phone restart and boot straight into my current branded ics 4 and work without me having to do any more (i wont have to reinstall rom etc)?
can anyone advice please as i do not want to have to reset my phone up.
thanks

No you wont have to do anything else, it will just root your phone for you, your apps, settings, data and ICS will all be the same.
ur phone wont be resetted. it will be the exactly the same but u would hv got SUPERUSER access

thank you for the quick replies
one more question though, once i have rooted, if orange release another fw, say 4.0.4 and i update, i know i loose root access and would have to root again.
once i installed a new version though what happens to the installed apps that are 'root only' once i put the updated os on, would it mess them up until i rooted again?
i hope i have explained that how i mean it to sound
if u update ur firmware, u would loose root and without root access. those root only apps wont work

Rooting big problem

Hello xda members!Im kinda new to android development (YES,IM NOOB!) so please take me easy
Six months ago,I bought a galaxy player and updated it to 2.3.5,and then rooted it succesfully usin SuperOneClick. But a month ago,My brother updated it to 2.3.6 without doing Unroot,so superuser is still in there and i can't uninstall it.
Today i tried to root again-I want to install ICS-using SuperOneClick and got freezed up in part seven waiting for device,So i tried the DoomLords method, but it didn't work either! It sain that my device is rooted, but i checked with root checker and said no rooted.
How I am suppossed to root again?
I have an International YP-G70 5.00,With kernel "2.6.35.7 [email protected] #2"

1. kill you brother
2. you can't root the official 2.3.6 - the exploits in it have been patched up, you need to flash the unsecure kernel from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414565 then you would be able to either flash a new rom or root the one you have
I thing you can't root stock int 2.3.6
..you need to flash custom kernel to root it.At least there was no way when I bought it.

Why not unlock the boot loader there is always a Oden to complete stock with locked boot loader so u can return ice returned 2 phones with unlocked boot loaders and never had a issue even one even a MAXX HD lol and one note 2 as long add there's no root they return them. Not having your BL unlocked limits u quite a bit Its your phone just curious
I used casual, and did everything, root unlock and custom recovery

There's no way to root without Odin of root66 just like last build. Expect casual of course and as stated this is the wrong section so I went ahead and reported it for you so adev can move it. Just keep the sections in mind for future posts please.

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a root that does only that: give me root access.
Is CASUAL really the only possible way to achieve root? If so, is it necessary that it unlocks the boot-loader and installs custom recovery to achieve this?
I probably wouldn't mind except that I'd like to just be able to do OTA updates as available, which I hear is not possible after running casual, and I really don't want to fiddle with custom ROMs as the stock Note 2 one works so well for me.
Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions...

Odin and root66 will root your phone. If you recieve a OTA while rooted it will get rid of your root completely and you will have to re-root your phone, it also has the potential to do some wonky **** to it (ive even heard of bricks happening because of being rooted and accepting the OTA).
Once your bootloader is unlocked you wouldnt have to flash roms if you didnt want to unless you wanted to update to a new OTA.

If you update via OTA after rooting, you WILL lose root. You may however root it again (provided rooting methods are available for the newer software version). You may or may not lose your apps (depending on the type of OTA update) after the update. So make sure to do a good backup first!
Flashing a custom ROM will almost always require you to do a full wipe (or format) of your phone, which will remove all your apps as well as personal data (excluding your files). You DON'T NEED to root custom ROMs, they are already rooted.
And yes, you have asked in the right place.
So thank yoi very much for ykir reply and thank you for ur time
I am happy i ask in right place of the forum
MERRY XMASS TO ALL !
