Galaxy S2 issue after odin - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello i'm sorry to start a new thread but just wanted to ask about something .
My phone's android went corrupt. It was not charging on power up and there was no sartup sound. So after doing a factory reset i decided to switch to jellbean I use a GT-I9100G. my phone got stuck on setting up connection on ODIN. I had to unplug the phone after which the firware went corrupt. After a lot of tries I got to a thread where i found a solution that was to use GT-I9100G_ICS_ClockworkMod-Recovery_5.5.0.4 in PDA I did that and was lucky enough to boot the phone. The only issue i have noticed right now is battery drain plus the music when played be it music player on the ringtone tends to freeze. Can you please suggest what is the best i can do to sort this out.
Thanks again

R: Galaxy S2 issue after odin
I'm not from the i9100g forums, but you could try with a full wipe and an sdcard format.. I know that it's annoying to wipe everything, but sometimes it saves you.. You can also try another rom.. The battery drain is due to the recent flash, so the phone needs to settle a bit!

Well the phone tends to restart in between calls as well. Does it have anything to do with GT-I9100G_ICS_ClockworkMod-Recovery_5.5.0.4 i tried in PDA. please suggest what can be done for this. Thanks

Probably not. It's your rom/modem/ril/kernel or a hardware failure.

You've stated every possible fault here.......

Thanks for the revert. Can you please guide me to a place where i can see how to get back to the factory rom. I have not tweaked my rom with anything. I tried to install the jellybean which did not happen. I got stuck at setup connection screen. I plugged out the cable and the android went corrupt. It asked me to install it from kies. I couldn't do it on kies as phone was not getting detected by kies. Can you please tell me how to get the factory GT-I9100G_ICS_ClockworkMod-Recovery_5.5.0.4 in PDA Because i believe this is causing problems. The phone doesn't restart on every call and there's no regular interval for it. Plus the sound has problems. It tends to break be it on ringtone or music player.
Is there any way i can check for the faults that you've mentioned above.

[Q] HOW to Update or reflash Galaxy s2 Bootloader

i have a problem with my galaxy s2 exactly like this: got a wierd problem. My galaxy S2 refuses to shut down.
When I shut the phone down without a USB cable connected then the phone turns black and the 'menu and 'return' button lights up then the phone vibrates. at this stage before the buttons turns black and the phone was totally shut down. now instead the buttons are still lit after the vibration and then the phone starts up again.
With a USB plugged in after the vibration when shutting down I get to the screen where the battery indicating charging is shown, but as soon i remove the USB cable the phone starts.
The power button is not stuck.
It's not rooted: cleared the cache in 3e recovery. No change.
I fully charged my battery. No change
I drained my battery to 0%. No change
I tried another battery. No change.
Well i thing i should Re-flash a Bootloder or install another one, is there any idea how to do that throw ODIN1.85 Please please please help me im just
First step back up data factory reset phone .

WELL....
Can you people be more clearly on Ur Tips Please, Do i have to Update Bootloader or Bootloader will Automatically update after i flash a Full firmware via Odin or during update a frimware do i need to click a tick there writting "UPDATE BOOTLOADER" or not or let me know any Solution pleaseeeeeeeeeee . English is my 3rd Langue so Please try to explane with a Simply English Brothers and sister. I feel sucks No one can fix my Problem here in Kosovo.
If you are going to flash New firmware via Odin from intratech you will automatically get the right (older) bootloader that lets you clear the flash counter with the jig.
If you have already flashed KI3 or KI8 from somewhere else chances are you will have the new bootloader flashed on your phone.
If that is the case intratech has the older bootloader that you can download and flash via Odin without having to flash the full firmware again.
Read the 1st few posts in his thread carefully for the exact steps to follow.
Good luck.

I has this same problem after flashing ki4. Would not shut off. Kept booting up every time I tried to switch off. After a bit of searching I found a fix got my phone. Just remove the battery for 30 seconds. Reinstall and try again. Might not work for you but won't cost anything to try.
Edit
Just read. You already tried another battery do this won't help you. Sorry.

[Q] help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi
I need help with my new Samsung galaxy Sii GT-i9100. the phone comes with a stock android gingerbread os. I was looking to upgrade to jellybean but Samsung kies keep failing to complete this due to an unknown error. I then began looking into a supernexus rom as a friend recommended it. after a day of fiddling and searching on the internet for a way to do this. I found a different forum that someone had the same problem with the same kernel as i have. the answer was to install a cm-root kernel. After booting into download mode i installed this kernel and then my phone diden't restart. it has continued to show no other sign of life even after charing.
please help

First of all: next time use a proper title for a new thread, because this one isn't quite 'usefull'..
Now, you say your phone doesn't show a sign of life. Do you mean it wont boot? Or can you enter Download mode? If so, try to reflash the kernel, and make sure it's the right one. You could also flash official firmware via Odin, if you want to.

Sorry, I'm not an expert at this point. Search for threads about hard bricks, and possible solutions (or anyone else has to have a better answer). Good luck anyway.

First off, chill out.
Then read this and try some of the possible fixes.
If nothing works, come back and we'll tell you what to do so you can get a new phone claiming warranty.

my phone will not enter recovery mode or download mode. it will not turn on at all.
If you've completely bricked your phone. ..
Take your Battery out of the phone and charge with external charger. ..
After that use a USB Jig(should get on ebay, isn't much expensive) to boot your phone into download mode and Flash the stock Rom using Odin...
If this doesn't work then going to the official Samsung store should be your move..
Press thanx if I helped...

No boot or recovery

Hi everyone,
Complete Noob here, and not proud of it.
I've been searching through your awesome forum now for the past few days trying to get an answer to a problem I have with my GT-I9300, but unfortunately i just seem to keep coming up with more and more problems. So begrudingly I have come to beg for help in the form of a new thread.
I had the phone running rooted with CWM and Cyanogen 10.1 with a fair amount of problems, it kept locking up.
So i was advised one of the best solutions would be to use a more stable version of Cyanogen so re flashed with 9. It worked pretty brilliantly up until some apps were updating and it just completely froze, at the time this was not a strange occurance because of the previous freezing issues i had. So i just restarted the phone.
I then get a message that the firmware has become corrupted and i need to re-install emergency firmware with Kies, tried this. nothing happened.
It has now come to only allowing me to boot into download mode, if i attempt a standard boot, or a recovery boot it goes into a white screen, which almost looks like static on an old analogue TV.
I am at my complete end with this phone, I have tried many re-flashes and versions of PDA files via ODIN and nothing has worked, I always seem to get a PIT Partition error.
I have now been trying to get this to work for at least 20 hours of my life and its finally enough, I would just be incredibly thankful if someone could let me know the problem and if there is a solution to this, I am yet to find anyone else suffering with this white static picture on boot.
When i boot into download mode, i get the red ODIN MODE setting, no product name, no custom binary download, the current binary is 'Samsung official' and the system status is custom.
I have tried reflashing to samsung stock, and that even fails.
Many thanks in advance. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Agreed.
Please people, don't go back to ICS! It is unable to prevent your eMMC from death.

Random Reboot

Hi,
I am on Archidroid 1.7.11 , Kernel Boeffla 5.2 b 6a , my phone randomly reboots and is stuck on Samsung Logo, after trying 2 -3 times I am successfully able to get to the Main working screen and It works perfectly normally, but sometimes after 4-5 hours it again reboots and is stuck on Samsung screen , after 2-3 tires I am able to get it working normally. My phone is not hot, I tried 4.1.2 ROM and same thing happens with that ROM as well. Today, I formatted my EXT SD card and this problem is occurring after that (it might be a coincidence).
Is my problem related to:
1. SD Card
2. Power Button
3. ROM
4. Power button (I don't see that it is stuck).
or just 5. SDS?
Please advise as I am out of warranty and pretty worried about the same.
Sounds like firmware corrupting due to nand memory failure. Flash the official 4.3 stock rom, factory reset and test before you install or restore anything.
SDS is sudden, the phone dies and will never boot again.

Thank you very much for the reply. However It will be great if you can share a good firmware to flash (may be a link if you could) and also , do I need to flash it via ODIN with PIT ? Please advise.
I suggest try with new Kernel. Try stock or LiteGX kernel.
I am on latest Boeffla kernel and phone is working fine at the moment. I noticed that earlier it used to reboot when phone was not in use. While using, the phone never reboot earlier. Also, my voltage is sometimes unstable like 500 MA but replugging the charger pin solves the problem. Can someone suggest If my above problem is related to USB port on my phone?
Sent from a better Galaxy designed for humans!
Its been now alomost 24 hours since I got any reboot issue. In the interim I cleaned the USB port on my phone via toothbrush and also made sure that My power button is not stuck.
I wanted to share this so that any one who has this kind of problem in future can take the steps from the steps I took to troubleshoot this problem.
I will report back in case I see this issue again .
Thank you everyone for amazing help!

Samsung Galaxy S3 - Many issues :(

Hello everybody,
I have ran into lot of issues in my Samsung Galaxy S3 I-9300. I bought it from UK(unlocked) two years ago.
The issue started with the recharge issues. It shows as it is charging but it doesn't charge and some times the battery suddenly increases by 30-50% on phone restart. And then one day I started encountering phone restart issue. I started losing files that I had copied or created during those times on my external SD card. I once saw that I had android robot fallen with red exclamation mark in the recovery screen. And then one day my phone won't go ahead of Samsung logo so I did a factory reset. After factory reset I thought everything will be fine but still I had few issues so I installed Kies and did a firmware upgrade from the Samsung site. But the recovery robot was still down with red exclamation mark. I thought rooting will help me in fixing it so I rooted the phone but no help. I finally installed stock recovery from odin and it fixed it. Everything looked fine. But I still had files getting deleted from SD card and phone auto restart issue. And recharging issue resurfaced as well and I was not able to recharge from wall charger. I had to switch off my mobile and recharge it from USB cable. I keep it overnight for approx. 8-9 hours at a stretch ans still charging would be around 60-70%. Yesterday my phone restarted on its own and now its getting stuck at Galaxy logo screen. Its not even going to Samsung screen. I can't go to recovery mode but I can still go to download mode. I tried installing stock recovery firmware today from odin and it failed. I can install stock image from odin but I want some solution as I can't keep on doing it again and again.
P.S: I did factory reset twice and after factory reset every time I restart few old applications were getting installed automatically which I had not selected.
Please help me guys.
Update:
Tried flashing stock recovery and stock rom. Nothing worked. Have took capture of the ODIN screen to give more clear idea. Thanks.

I have added screenshot. Please take a look and help me people. I am really stuck. Thanks.

Try the rescue firmware here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30087735 << there are two versions you will find the pit file in the 4.1 version download. If this fails or issues come back then it will need service repair.
Bro, it isn´t a software problem, its your battery, it needs to be changed

I agree he may have a battery problem but that would not explain all the other issues with Odin and recovery etc. I would still recommend flashing rescue firmware first before paying out for a new battery.
Yeah, I guess he might have some problems with his rom, but is kinda wierd too. Hey Crazy Access, have you tried access to recovery from an apk?, some of them do it, like Quick Reboot, or quick boot, search for them in Google play, take a look on it
Thanks for the replies tallman43 and adaltavo.
Adaltavo, my phone is not booting at all. It's not going beyond S3 screen to Samsung logo so I can't try recovery from any apk.
I am going to try recovery method in the link provided by tallman43 and will come back with the results.
Meanwhile, if you have any other tips do tell me.
Thanks.

You did not read the instructions in the rescue thread I gave you!! Are you seriously trying to brick your device? Why have you got nand erase all ticked in Odin this is a bad move where does it say to tick this!
Sorry to be harsh but you need to read instructions fully before attempting anything with your phone.Ttry again with Odin and follow the instructions exactly as posted in the screenshot in the rescue thread also maybe try Odin 1.85. But it looks like you have messed up your device even more. (Recommend Service repair) :crying:
Hi tallman. Thanks for the response. I actually downloaded the file from the link you gave, and there were four files but there was no pit file in it. So when I did search again in the forum for pit file I got another link where a user had the same problem and he did ticked the options so I tried that as well. And you were not harsh. It is irritating when you are trying to help and I didn't read the instructions carefully
I will try again and post results here.
Thanks for the help once again

After trying everything the ODIN still failed, so went to service station where they told that internal memory is corrupt and I need to replace motherboard. Thanks tallman and adaltavo for trying to help me out. Appreciate it. Hunting for new phone now.
