You don't say what rom you are using, but I would start by adjusting the settings:
WiFi Tether: use "Generic ICS" device type and check routing fix and MMS.

Sprint Hotspot has not been unlocked on any ICS rom yet AFAIK. But wifi tether works better anyway since it works on 4g.

Anyone know a tethering app that works on the tmobile gs3. I I've tried foxfi and wifi tether (root). And I can't use the original one that came with the phone because they want me to use the tmobile hot spot and I do not want to get rid of my data plan.

1. Please put [Tmobile] in your title, so us AT&T, Sprint, US Cellular, & Verizon users don't waste our time in here and so that you don't get misleading responses.
2. I found a solution for my AT&T device by downloading FoxFi.

I just heard about foxfi, and am curious about it. I'm sure this has already been covered, but I can't find it.... Can someone tell me how and where to download it to my unrooted phone? I tried one site, but it stated my phone wouldn't support it. Any help or direction will be appreciated

Let's you WiFi hotspot without root. Works pretty well, if you have a strong data connection.

Not unless they find out you're using an unauthorized hotspot. There was an anecdote a few weeks ago about a FoxFi user getting charged for hotspot usage, right around the time Sprint banned it from the market.
FWIW, Wifi Tether from Muller/Lemons/Buxton/Robinson works just fine for me.

WiFi Tether works fine if your phone is rooted. FoxFi allows you to tether without having to root your phone.
Works well. I used sparingly but never have had any issues with it. Fast data speeds if you have 4G access.

Has anyone tested this under the LTE data?

Not sure if you can wifi hot spot without root, but for tethering with your USB cable, a few options exist.
My old fave from back in my Treo 650, 700p, 850 days was PDANet. Free, for 30 days, after that free for non https sites. One time $15 to register for https sites after 30 days. probably some completely free options but over the years for how badly I've abused my unlimited data with this program I certainly got my money's worth...lol.
Thanks will definitely check these options out
