[Q] CM 7.1 High Battery Drain - Samsung Galaxy 5 I5500

Hello all,
I 've installed CM 7.1 on galaxy 5 a few weeks ago. For last 2 weeks i got a huge battery drain. I suspected about an old battery issu and replaced battery with a new one.
But that continues with same battery also. It can last up to 6-8 hours after unplugging from charge.
On battery usage, top is with cell standby.
I got full bars both on 3g and gsm network in my area. and I also tried to turn off data, gsm only vs.. No change.
Is there a fix for it? Or what can i do to resolve this issue.
Thanks

[Q] Battery draining (2.1.A.0.435)

Hellow all
I updated my x10 to 2.1.A.0.435 last week
It was all fine for the first few days
But I found something terrible two days ago
My battery is draining for no reason!!
I dont know why!!
It drained from 100% to 18% in one night(8hr)
and it said most of the battery was used on cell standby(52%)
I've never seen this before
Before I updated the battery was mostly used on display or idling
I have every setting the same as it was in 2.0.A.0.024
Does anybody have the same problem as I do?
Please help me
thx

That sounds like exactly what happened for me as well. It was fine 5 days and then went downhill with the cell standby number getting bigger and bigger.
Any solutions?
Thanks much.
sounds very much like a faulty app to me, stopping the phone from sleeping. What did you install immediately prior to the phone battery problems starting? Do you have a task killer? if they're not properly set up they can prevent the phone from sleeping.
I haven't installed any new apps for a while.
May be really flash again. I did mine n its gives me one full day n a bit more

I forgot about Handy Calc, which I did install about the time of the battery problem. I uninstalled it and went back to my old program, Real Calc. let's see if that was the problem.
Thanks for helping.

had the same prob but installed juice defender and enabled auto kill in aggresive mode and each 30 mins
sometimes it can last for like 4 days w/o charging (using 3g) others not so lucky lol
I ran into the same problem.
What causes Cell Standby to run so high that I have found to work for me is 1 of 2 reasons.
1: Your phone is continualy searching for service
2: Your phone is not staying on 3G and is jumping back and forth from 3G to Edge network due to bad service. Or your on Edge and it is trying to connect to an unavailable 3G Network.
I fixed my problem with turning off 3G Service unless I know for a fact that it is available. As far as not having service, turn on Airplane Mode to keep your cell from searching for service.
How to know whether Im in a good condition of service?
The signal is well (3 of the 4 bars on the frame)
and I think Im always on 3G (I can see only 3G or H on the frame)
But the pointer only shows up when Im downloading apps
Is it normal?
Thx
Reflashed again from update service
installed only astro file manager, google map, systemapp remover and market
but still has the problem......
it is now
cell standby 33%
display 30%
phone idle 26%
can somebody please help..........please......
I think the problem is the 2.1.A.0.435. Almost everyone who updated the firmware to use Z's Froyo Beta 4 reported battery draining issues and some guys suggested that the problem could be sony's new firmware/baseband. Since it affects both ppl using official 2.1 and 2.2.1 Beta 4, seems like they were right. Only workaround I found is keeping the phone with edge only, since the draining issue seems 3g related.
I most definately agree with the above post about the app '' juice defender ''. My battery started sucking the juice after the latest firmware update and even more after the FreeX10 Beta4 ROM but now it last longer than any other time. Just customize the settings for your tastes. I have found that it is not needed to use a task killer.
having the same battery drain problem. Pre 435 update I got 2-3 days without charging, immediately after upgrading to 435 the battery dropped to 60% after 4 hours. No wifi, bluetooth, GPS, 3G or new apps installed. I just think its a crappy software build.
I have the same problem, battery drain 75% in 10 hours, only make 2 calls (10mins) during the 10 hours , I have cell stand by 54% .
After reading this thread, I check my phone and found that Cell Standby is on 67% on .435 firmware. It used to be the Display which is having higher percentage of use. But I never see any unusual drain on my phone. It still drop 1% overnight from 10pm to 7am...
i had this kind of problems on my optimus, wildfire also x10.some apps even after uninstalling leave mess on phone memory which drains battery.i always did hard reset and battery got back to normal

Did you just flash a rom, kernel or model? You usually have to let it go through a few battery cycles before the true battery life is known.
You can also download better battery stats from xda, and cpu spy from play store to see your wakelocks and if your tab is deep sleeping

Hi Bro, thanks for your prompt reply.
FYI, I didn't do anything on my tab, is just that its battery suddenly drain very fast. I will try the suggestions of yours.
rapid battery drain
Hi,
I was having the same problem on my unrooted Tab 10.1 a couple of weeks ago. This progressed to it barely keeping up with the amount of battery discharge during use. At first I assumed the cord was wornout. B ut when new corde arrived no better. Now determined to be bad female end on tab itself as charging was positional, while it still worked at all. Upside? New tab arrives tomorrow. Hope this helps.

[Q] Battery life issues

Hello
I've been having some battery problems with my sgs2. I've bought it in june of 2011, it is my first smartphone and I was immediately pleased with it. great phone, everything working properly. since it was my first phone I was a light user and the battery could last me 2 days, sometimes it even got to last 3 days. However, at the beginning of the year I felt a sudden drop in battery performance, coming to last only 12-15 hours with light use. by this time I became more of a medium-heavy user and under "normal" use the phone would be dead at 10 hours, maximum.
I bought a new battery, official samsung 2000 mAh, and the performance became slightly better. It would at least last a day of work, but the performance was never as good as the original 1650 mAh battery when I first bought the phone.
by this time I began experimenting with ROMs, ressurection remix, miui, and now pfittech. but as time passes the performance is always dropping and today something strange happened. I locked my phone at 17% of battery, and after a while I checked it and the battery was at 18%. I checked again and is now at 19%. Right now it's 21%. What the hell?
can anyone help me? any help would be much appreciated.
p.s. i've tried calibrating the battery and I've read in the forums that on JB it's not necessary because the phone now clears battery stats when they reach 100%. I've also changed the stats with extweaks to absolutely no effect. I've been reading many topics on this but nothing quite seems to fit my situation.
mate u have to reset gauge in extweak then kill ur battery and pull off for 5 min then charge that should do

Thank you for your advice I will try that. I'll let you know if it works. btw, when you say kill the battery you mean let it drain to zero right? sorry if dumb question, I'm a newb at this hehe

I get 30+ hours with almost 4 hours of screen on there must be some apps killing the battery
thats what im saying.. i get super battery life running mean rom.. thats why its always been my daily driver.. on the evo 3d and now the LTE :good:
horrible battery life using meanrom
i've been running meanrom-ics 6.5 for a couple days now and i've been experiencing horrible battery life. i used the 1.7 kernal when i installed the rom. yesterday my batter died about 6 hours after i got to work and my phone wasn't used at all (i can't have a phone in my work space) other than the 1 or 2 times i checked it. when i checked the battery usage it said 36% standby mode and 38% phone idle. i thought those were the two times when the phone wouldn't be using any battery or very little. i also don't get a data signal at work anymore, but was getting a 4g signal when running cleanrom (i also got no data when running cm10 for a day or two).
Are there any other steps i need to take to make it last significantly longer. i'm pretty new to all of this so the help would be appreciated.

If your phone is searching for a signal while you are at work that could be the problem try putting it in airplane mode or turning data off until you need it also get better battery stats and see if something is running that you are not aware of

S3 battery draining issue Not encountered so far

Hello guys, I bought my s3 from t mobile Germany and so far i had only Problems with.
I had the Software Problem in wich instead of 3.4 mAh He consumed 34.
Solved with the help ffrom bala gamer thread.
I have miui Rom with syah Kernel. No widget whatsoever juice defender premium, brightness on lowest posible, wifi when posible...
I am so angry on my Device Because a friend of mine got the phone from Vodafone and He was with battery on 32%. was using the phone 3 days 12 hours and something about 5 hours of onscreen tine...
My Best was 3 hours on screen time and around 14 - 15 standby. I am Not a heavy User i just like to Chat alot so i am on messenger Facebook all time...

Remove Juice Defender .
jje
I am also a new S3 user (migrated from an Iphone), and have been plagued with the battery issue. However, I have come to realize that you can't have everything with charging twice a day. You need to turn off the GPS, and set the WIFI to go to turn off when the Phone is in standby. I have also turned on the Power Savings menu, but will do tests to see if that is really needed. So far 30% Discharge in 5 hours....
Here is a link to a guy listing all his settings ( http://www.samsunggalaxys3forum.com...ttings-worth-try-those-poor-battery-life.html ).... Experiment and make your own call. Unfortunately, you have to be very aware what you have turned on... or at least that has been my experience after the last few days...
Facebook is known to cause some battery drain. Anyway, you should install BetterBatteryStats (search the foruns, there's a huge topic about it). BBS will give you precious information about what is using your battery and how much it's using it.
Nevermind what I said... 4 hours today with "normal" usage and I am at 45%. The S3 is a battery hog compared to the Iphone.
I installed this morning bbs, ill post the prinČ› screen when i got my battery empty. An update i just bought a 4300 mili ampers battery and i still cant get the Stats from other members even with this.
I forgot to say GPS is off all the time aswell and wifi only when i need IT.
