I am currently using MeanBean v3.07 and really appreciate all the work Mikey has done to create a great ROM. My problem is with Google Maps Navigation that was a problem long before I rooted and started installing custom ROMs.
Any time I leave Google Maps and start Navigation the app freezes and eventually crashes. I thought it was a GPS issue, however, Waze works great. I have since switched to use Waze exlusively, however, I really do like the Google Maps integration and ease of use.
Any suggestions or troubleshooting ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Its been talked about before. The only way to "fix" it that I have seen is get a new phone. It is hit or miss on it working. Mine doesn't work but my wifes does.
It's a known issue with Jelly Bean that devs have attempted to address with little to no luck. The issue with Nav isn't with any particular ROM, as it also exists with stock, unrooted devices. Why it affects some phones but not others isn't known. Mikeyxda (among others) looked at the problem and it seems to have to do with Nav eating up memory until it crashes.
The advice is free....the bandwidth, not so much
Thank you for the input. Much appreciated.

i searched and found a couple threads on this topic already, but they all seemed to be inconclusive. is there a fix for this? running vegan 5.1. will this be fixed in the final release? of which im really excited about when its released. anyway a number of apps wont work for me because the wifi location doesnt work at all, any help greatly appreciated. also thank you devs for the rom. awesome job.
also, a location spoofer app wont work for me, its one of the apps i cant see/get from my market.
Bump - - I am still unable to get wifi location on Google Maps myself. Is there a fix for this? This can, potentially, cause some problems.
Just an FYI: I recently tried Corwin's CM7 and was surprised that wifi location worked. Only ROM I have found that supports it.
I can't confirm location workss within maps in vegan7 (cause maps fc's on me). But I can say that wifi location seems to work with google seaches. FYI
Thank You, the CM7 works,
It's useless if you don't have Location services..
Thanks for the heads up..
My GPS worked out of the box when I got this phone last week but now it hasn't locked on all day. I am running the latest evil fascination ROM. Any advice?
Did you try wiping data, cache, and dalvik after install?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
I am having the exact same issue. I NEVER get a lock anymore - even leaving it on for 30 minutes....
I have been running various ComRoms with various kernels and radios and still the same unusable GPS. I have also played with GPS Aids, GPS Status, and some other ones. I have read all the various forum posts about this issue to. Still nothing.
Would really love to know if anyone has any new advice... I too am getting really sick of it not locking on at all.... it used to just be slow, now it's useless all together.
Similar issue on a i9000 galaxy S here. Question: do you all recall if prior to the issue appearing you upgraded the version of google maps installed? Or some other app?

It was that damned Google Maps update after all! I stumbled into this: http://www.google.ru/support/forum/p...053f4eeb&hl=en
Uninstalled (the updates over the stock) Google Maps and presto: locked just fine!
try rebooting phone leaving gps on. you might want to look into a gps aid like gps booster. Since I have been running the powerwash rom, gps works better than ever.
Hey guys,
am I the only one who thinks that Google Maps has gotten slower and laggier on our Galaxy SII with the ICS-Update?
Panning and Scrolling is a little choppy and the device gets very warm when using Google Maps for more than a minute. I tried to do some investigation and found out that the Latitude process is really heavy on the CPU, which might cause both issues.
Im using the latest Google Maps on the LPQ rom, and though this is not a dealbreaker, it's just not the way it's supposed to be for me.
PS: I'm not using Google's Latitude service at all, but i guess the latitude process is also used for locating you on the map.
Well I can say that yes, it does take some good seconds to switch to that Auto rotation mode (don't know the exact term), but otherwise it's OK. Besides it's not ICS but the app itself may not be well compatible yet!
Yes, it is slower on ICS for me too.
well, good to know it's not just my phone then, let's hope this will be fixed with an update soon, or maybe someone smarter than I will find out what's the cause
Just flashed to Epinters CM10 (JellyBean) on my Atrix 4G. AMAZING ROM!
Only major issue I'm having is with Google TTS. Google Now is working but not getting any text to speech. Same thing under Google TTS settings, when selecting 'Listen to a sample', I don't get any audio. Other audio is working fine, ie notifications, rings, etc.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It's a rom in a very early stage of development. There might not be a fix out right now since JB hasn't been out that long. It's not really a rom you should use are your primary right now because it's bound to have a lot of bugs like this.

It's actually very stable for the most part. Almost all functions seem to work, only thing I can get working is the TTS. Nobody else has reported the issue in the Development tread so not sure if specific to my phone...
Issue resolved. Had to wipe/reflash rom and JB gapps. Google Now with text to speech!!
I've finally hit a breaking point with Maps 7.x. Has anyone else still been having problems with it, or better yet, not had problems with it?
This is a video showing some of the problems I've been seeing. Most noticeable is the jittering glitches. If I'm driving around, the screen is unreadable for directions or street names. At the end is a screenshot I took of a completely glitched out warning prompt to tell me "please enable wifi and mobile network to improve accuracy" though you'd never be able to guess that.

I'm running Infection 2.9.1, and I've tried several kernels (ROM default, Hiro, and Funkybean) and switched up the governors and schedules, and nothing has seemed to work. I've tried disabling/enabling hardware overlays. I'm just at a loss, and hoping someone out there knows more than I do. I just finally had it because it's cool enough outside to run now without getting heat stroke, and Endomondo (my running app) freaks out and loses signal 5 steps into a run. Downgrading to Maps 6.x makes everything happy. Is sticking with the old Maps still the best solutions for this?
Is there any more information that I can provide to eventually get this resolved?
nu Maps stinks on Rezound
I unwisely installed the new Maps from Google Play Store.
It forgot my Favorite places and cached location. Experienced
poor location finding and not-fun routing to locations.
After hating it for a week, I searched for Maps 6.14.4.apk
and installed it with Root Explorer. I am very glad to have
a good working version of Maps running again now.

To be honest google has been messing up alot of things for the Rez lately and maps being one of them....no matter what kernel you are on or what rom you are on its not gonna fix this maps issue...personally i prefer waze as it is not only free on google play but just works alot better and are even more up to date than google maps....plus it has many cool features like it lets you know if theres a cop or accident up ahead...also to note theres a gps test app out there that gives you a much better lock on your gps so it wont loose its signal as much
I have the same flickering issue until I close the app and reopen it. Seems to work fine after that.
