Looking for advice - soft bricked s3 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I am looking for advice, since I have bricked my s3, (first time ) and well I hope someone can help me...
I was on Omega rom v39, with philz touch recovery
i decided to flash the last omega v44 since it is android v4.2.1
well I have downloaded it (MD5 is fine), perform wipes - cache, data, system; then I flashed omega rom v44, when it reboots, it takes me sometime to realize something is wrong aside it is in the bootanimation, it began to vibrate, then it vibrate two time and continuing with intermitent vibration all in the booting animation (the omega "guy" (lol) walking forever)
then, returning to philz recovery- (here was I get some scared... ) the recovery says that it can not read external SD, and now I´m stuck
(cannot pass other roms thru sd card)
should I return to stock using odin
or flash [RECOVERY][18.06.2012] ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.5.0.4 - "v1.5" from chainfaire?
well as summary
my second flash using Philz recovery fails (yes it was the second time I used it... )
philz recovery does not detect my externalsd.
and now... i don´t know
BTW my microsd64gb need a format now, but even that the recovery can´t read my extsd cards (OMG oO)
any help is greatly apresiated.
UPDATE: I have installed [RECOVERY][18.06.2012] ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.5.0.4 - "v1.5", and it still can´t read my external SD card
I think I will flash this I9300XXELLA_I9300OXAELLA_BTU thru Odin

did you do a factory reset? should be the first thing you did

I did it from recovery, since I can not boot to android, but did not work
however, I have installed recovery from chainfire using ODIN, and then flash the same rom (omega v44.1, same file) and now everything works fine again.
The recovery now read my external SD, so it is ok too
but I lost all data of my microsd, it's become inaccesible, and I had to format it :crying::crying::crying:
(stupid exfat format :crying
I have a backup of the most important files, but not of my lastest photos, videos, (lost the nand and "my backup" apks files and data), and my game data, the fuk** game dataaaaa !!!

Can't Restore Backup, Urgent Help Please!!

Okay before posting i have spent the majority of the day on this forum, the net and just generally searching for a solution. I installed the latest Omega V18 rom today with the latest Siyah-Dorimanx kernal. No issues, installed and worked fine recovered all my data. I was having a problem with Omega files kitchen, so i decided to wipe everything and try and start from fresh. I did a backup with CMW and Titanium, then i put the CMW backup ontop my laptop and wiped the phone and reinstalled everything, i was still getting the same problem and i went into Titanium and deleted all my backups, why i never know! But i still have the one on the laptop. Went for a final reinstall and obviously Titanium has no backup but my CWM backup is showing but i cant restore it in recovery mode or when the phone is on normally.
The phone works fine running Omega V18 Rom and Siyah-Dorimanx V7.43. No problem with booting or going into recovery mode, when i connect the phone to the usb on the laptop it comes up with removable disc E. My back up is on there and i can see it and open the folder and view the contents. However when i try to restore the backup either through CWM (V3.15) or booting into recovary mode the phone cannot find the back up.
I have tried all the restore options in recovery mode and i get E: Can't mount sdcard. So i'm stuck i have tried wiping all my data and doing factory reset etc and starting from the start, but still no joy. I have also tried to follow another guide on here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070 When i try to load the ED05 Froyo into Odin it fails.
Im desperate for a solution i just need my pictures back Anyhelp will be greatly appriciated, is there any thing i can do?
EDIT: I have just flashed it with Odin and a stock rom, now where do i go from here? Do i have to re-root the phone and install a custom rom again.
CWM and TB don't save your pictures! They are still there, on internal or on external SD Card, if you haven't deleted them by formating. Where did you save them?
I thought CWM did a full backup? Well atm the phone is running 4.0.4 ICS and when i go into stock recovery i still get the same cant mount sdcard!! Well i did format the whole phone and did factory reset so looks like i have lost them for good then? Now its back to standard why still cant it mount the sdcard?? I have placed the right Philz-cwm6 kernel onto the internal sdcard and go into stock boot and try to apply update and comes up E: unable to mount sdcard.

Do you have an extra sd card ? I am not joking I have realized last week that I didn't bother to buy one nearly 2 years ago :good:
If you have saved your pictures on external sd card you can always take it out, put it into your sd slot in your notebook or pc and copy the files to your hard drive.

I have a small external card, but i didn't save the pictures to it or anything. I just assumed when i did my previous backups that it saved my files. Anyways i learnt that lesson the hard way it seems.
I connected the phone via usb and it came up E: Removable disc so i formatted it in windows, the put Philz kernel onto it and when into stock recovery and then tried to update via externel sd card and it fails to mount as usual. So why is E drive coming up in windows but not in the phone? Im really starting to loose my mind over this now, how do i fix this on a stock rom!
EDIT: I have flashed the Philz kernel via Odin, now i can get into CWMR Touch 6.0.1.4 I can go into the mounts and storage menu and mount /emmc but i still can't mount the /sdcard. I can now however apply an ZIP update from internal sdcard so now im getting too confused and lost i have been working for at least 10 hours on this in total so im going to bed and will try again tomorrow!!

YES
You have wiped your sd card as per the instructions of superwipe .
Flash CFRoot and try again
Fails .
Flash stock rom via Odin .

CWM - Wipe data\Factory reset - Wiping all data from Internal SD

I've read some other posts where this has caused a certain amount of controversy but no post seemed to actually answer the question..
Using the Wipe data\Factory reset in ClockWorkMod Recovery has started to wipe the ENTIRE device
(excluding the external SD card)
I have flashed dozens of custom ROMs in the past and what normally happens is my external SD card contents remains safe, this still happens, no problem there, and all my personal documents such as music, pictures, videos and all other files that are not part of the actual ROM itself remain safe too.
BUT
Yesterday, i flashed a certain ROM designed to resemble the S4 (with leaked 4.2.2). Its performance was shockingly bad and other reasons caused me to flash a new ROM which i had used in the past - but when i wiped data/factory reset through CWM - ALL MY INTERNAL SD CONTENTS WHERE GONE
Things i did notice with the 4.2.2 ROM before re-flashing were that:
-When i connected it to the computer (via USB) my device was seen as i9500 (the S4)
-Also, it had created a "0\" folderto store the system ROM.
-I also noticed, wehn re-flashing, it took longer to wipe data than usual..
NOTE: I DID NOT USE THE FACTORY RESET THROUGH ANDROID SETTINGS - THIS, I KNOW, WILL WIPE THE ENTIRE INTERNAL SD, PERSONAL FILES AND ALL. THIS WAS DONE THROUGH CWM.
Because obviously the 4.2.2 ROM wiped my entire Internal SD i had no ROM packages left on it to flash and because obviously i didnt know this until i wiped/reset it involved me having to use ODIN to reflash a STOCK ROM just to be able to boot up and transfer files (ROM packages) from PC to phone - which obviously then meant i had to reflash CWM aswell before i could install the new ROM.
Final Note:
The problem i have, is that i have to do the above EVERYTIME i want to flash a different ROM (i flashed 3 last night).
For some reason when i wipe through CWM my internal SD card is COMPLETELY WIPED!
The question is......Why???
Could the 4.2.2 ROM have re-partitioned my internal SD card and now CWM thinks the ENTIRE thing is data to wipe?
This is the only reasoning i could put to why it wont leave MY FILES alone...
If this IS the case, how do i get it back to normal??
I'm told, on numerous websites in BIG BOLD RED LETTERS that selecting 're-partition' in ODIN is bad and is just a ticket for a free paperwieght (the phone!).
Thank you to ANYONE who can help with this......
The clue may be in the 0 folder. Please read link in my signature to see if it helps

Thanks for your help, however the info you suggested does not solve my query..
The info you've provided assumes that the data is stored somewhere else, ie. 0\
Although my device did create a 0\ location when wiping the data, no personal data was in this location.
When i flashed back to stock using Odin, i could see that my phones internal storage was only 1.0-1.5GB used.
Before i started this i only had about 900mb left on my device!
So its not that my data is hiding somewhere.....its gone, and everything on my hones internal storgare is wiped everytime i "wipe data/factory reset" through CWM.

[Q] backup pictures for Galaxy S2. Hangs on boot logo

my S2 hangs on boot. I only see animation of omega cfw. I have searched different forums here on xda but no solution.
I can flash it but I have birthday pictures of my daughter when she was 1 year and can find it on my computer. I want to make a backup before install another rom. I have cwm but it can't make backup for my pictures I have read,
there is no external microsd installed, all pictures are saved on internal memory.
I have tried to install Siyah kernel with Odin. Now I see Siyah Logo on boot but it flashes continuously.
I am on vacation now, Lucky I have my mini notebook and have internet. I have buy a microsd to backup pictures or flash another rom.
Can anybody tell me with a friendly guide to fix the startup problem or make a backup of my pictures before I flash with a rom?

All ur Picture's taken on ur phone will be stored in the InternalSdcard (the 11.5gb partition) so installing a rom in no way will delete them
So u can flash the rom without any issue

Yes, for a clean install of the rom, A 'wipe Data/factory reset' and 'wipe cache partition' is a must

[SOLVED] i9300 stopped booting, how to save data? (CWM Recovery is working)

Very well, I have an international S3 (i9300) with the SlimBean 4.3 build 2 installed. It was working flawlessly, no bugs.
10 minutes after I put it in my pocket yesterday, I picked it up and it was stuck on the boot up screen, and it was quite hot. I tried rebooting it multiple times and waiting for a while, nothing happened. I have ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.3.6 installed and working, so I tried wiping cache and dalvik cache and booting up, without sucess. It's stuck on the boot up screen and it gets a little bit hot after a while.
My question is, how do I backup my internal SD card data? Every single time I've wiped the device I used to move the pictures to my PC and made TitaniumBackup backups to the external SD card beforehand, so I could change ROMs and get all the stuff back. Now it stopped working, how should I proceed? I have important pictures and data in some apps...
tl;dr i9300 stopped booting out of nowhere, CWM Recovery is working, how do I save my camera photos and all data from apps?
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Solved this by saving my data to the external SD card with AROMA File Manager, nothing lost!
Easiest solution is format system partition and reflash the exact rom you already have, unless the data partition is corrupt this should enable your phone to boot again.
Failing that you'll need to investigate if ADB pull will work in recovery/download mode.

Just tried formatting system and flashing the same ROM, it is still not booting
What can I possibly do to save my pictures? I'll look into ADB pull, is there anything else?
Flash philz recovery with odin, transfer data using aroma file manager, or custom backup, or usb mount internal sd.

I was googling and I had found about AROMA File Manager 10 minutes ago, but if didn't, I would because of this post. Thank you so much!
I was so damn worried about losing my stuff... I copied everything to the external SD card and now I can erase everything from the device and change ROMs safely. :good:
