For some reasons whenever I try to flash anything, as soon as I choose what to fIash my screen goes black and restarts recovery.
Anyone know why this might be happening?
I think I'm on sk8's recovery v14.4.7
I don't know if this even needs to be pointed out by I'm on LG Optimus G (E970)

That's very odd. Can you catch a recovery.log during the crash and send it to me?

I have looked and looked and cant find the answer. Im not a pro but not a noob so its hard for me to even ask lol. I have rooted his phone and have clockwork on it but i cant get it to create a backup. I have tried the different clockworkmods in rom manager but none work. The phone just restarts and nothing. I have looked in the forum and see that the optimus series of phone are for the most part the same. All i need is a recovery for rom manager that works and im set. Hope someone can help.
Please explain more. If you get a Bad Boot message it means your battery is low or you don't have enough memory. Describe what actions you are doing by not jst saying it reboots. Say what you selected before that.

Ok when I select any of the clockworkmods from the list in Tom manager and try to have the phone make a backup or go into recovery the phone either gets stuck on the LG screen and I have to do a battery pull or reboots with no error message.

How long is it stuck on the lg logo? If it takes longer than 4 minutes you may have to use amon ra recovery instead of clockwork.

Screw ROM Manager. Is it so hard to push 3 buttons to get into recovery? Also, do NOT flash recovery via ROM Manager unless you want fastboot.

Stop spamming and read the sticky threads!
I tried to flash a stock boot logo on "That ROM", and the boot logo looked like someone smeared a wet paint canvas. So I made this in case someone else wants to get back to stock.
Nothing special. Just sharing.
Flash with CWM at your own risk.
Just a tiny observation - I see you're mounting /system in your update script, not sure that does anything or is even needed?
I couldn't be bothered to create a new package. I just used a zip I had on my PC and modified it.
Hmm idk why but i been trying to flash this logo using moto-fastboot but it doesnt seem to work just black screen then bootanimation starts
Are you trying to flash this on a CM ROM or Gingerbread?
This is for "That ROM", probably won't work on anything else.
Yeh i tried on CM10
If it's just a boot logo it shouldn't matter what it's flashed on. It's just an image that's loaded when the phone boots.

Why don't you try it and let us know. The previous person to try it confirmed it didn't work on CM10.
I'm flashing CM10 whenever I get a charge. I'll let you know.
EDIT: I gave it a shot and the install failed. Not entirely sure. Doesn't appear my Atrix is gonna finish booting any time soon.

Had to get new Optimus G as I broke the prior one. But on the other after rooting and unlocking the LG logo was replaced with a nice looking Google logo with an unlocked lock on the bottom. How do I get that one back?
One a related note last time I unlocked the boot loader would show at the top what selection I'm about to choose (Normal, recovery, boot loader) but now I'm having to guess which one I'm about to select as there is no indicator. Is there an update that fixes this?
tl;dr How change lg logo on boot. How update boot loader to show selection indicator.
You have to be rooted and bootloader unlocked to change the boot animation.
If you look in the themes and apps section, you can find multiple boot animation threads (the Google one you're describing is one of them). You gotta download the zip and locate it using a file explorer like ES file explorer or root explorer. Then copy and paste it to /system/media and rename it bootanimation.zip if it isn't already. I also recommend renaming the current bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip.bak just in case something goes wrong so you'll still have that one.
I recommend making a backup in recovery just in case (although you shouldn't need it).
As for your other question, idk what you did but I've always had a "hidden menu" for my bootloader. To get in recovery, I hit volume down (volume up) twice then the power button.
EDIT: it's been a while since I've done this but I think this is how it's done. If someone else wants to chime in, feel free.

I think he's referring to the LG splash screen before the boot animation. I've never seen anything other than the LG logo. And the boot loader menu has always been hidden.
Not sure where you saw this stuff before.

It was never converted.
I have an LG Optimus G. I rooted, then unlocked it with the FreeGee. I then installed Ginsix Rom. My boot loader had the selections at the top. The little android bot was standing next to it and it would show me the different options as i hit the volume up and down.
Every time i booted the phone up instead of the "LG" splash i had a black background with white letters saying "Google" in the center and on the bottom was an open lock.
Am... i the only one?

It almost had to have the N4 bootloader for that to be the case. Somehow it got on there.

Would you mind telling us what you figured out? I'm kinda curious, and wouldn't mind having these changes myself.
@Digil,
The splash screen is built into the kernel- he mentioned 'Ginsix' rom, so that's where he got it. The rom I have has the splash screen he mentioned - as for pulling it out of the kernel and making something useful, at this point kernel stuff is above my pay grade. :silly:

Easiest way to change the boot animation is to use one of the CWM touch recoveries (14.4.5, 14.4.6 or 14.4.7 to be specific) and then flash the zip using the change boot animation in the "Advanced" section.
It can also be done in the CFX settings in synergy's ROM (IIRC).

OK that explains the boot animation. Is the recovery selection menu difference, the same issue?
So I have never had this problem before I have a 76920d I have unlocked boot loader and I flashed cm10.1 I went through all the steps on fixing the wonky touch screen and stuff everything was running good for about a week then the other day I booted into recovery and I set the phone down for a minute to do something and my phone was split into two screens of the same image I've tried flashing kdz no fix and I tried restoring a previous back up didn't work now I have no idea what to do. you don't need to flash any kdz.
if lg logo is still mirrored then uxfix did not work. did you run start.bat as an administrator?

didnt eveb think about doing that it worked thanks for the help i actually sold the working phone and switched carriers i have another one for sale if anyone would like. upgraded to s4 so no need for other device
I was pulling one of my many over nighters while trying to find a Stock CWM backup to my Optimus L9 P769
Well while doing this, I accidently installed the V20H CWM Backup for the P760, which of course inverted my screen..
(honestly I didnt think this was possible) However I am unable to install the Bootstrap CWM recovery so I can correct the problem
The touch is really wonky as I already knew it would be from all my research..
Ive been working on this all night, and the phone itself is Rooted, thats the good thing, I can get around the wonky touchscreen if I can get a custom recovery on this.. Ive tried just about everything I can on this.. I have no idea the device would even allow me to flash this Rom..
I have made attempts to unlock the bootloader, but not sure if I succeeded.. Im more concerned in bringing my phone back to stock.
I have the CWM backup to do that. Can anyone help me find to install a recovery on my Optimus L9 P769 now running the P760 Rom
with an inverted screen.. Im still working on it, but any help would be worth it to me..
The recovery I tried to install was the L9RecoveryInstaller_1.5.0.. Which worked like a charm before..
But Now im really stuck, and I dont want to have to buy a new phone..
It'll all work out. I don't have time to explain it (long story), so I'll tag an expert. @kuma82

that cwm backup wasn't made with l9 recovery installed.
press the power button on and off, so the screen is inverted, it's easier to navigate with the screen inverted. Locate your l9 recovery app and install the recovery.
Afteward reboot and restore you cwm backup.
after you restore you backup reboot and go right back into cwm,
this time fix the touch screen with lelus touchscreen fix.

Sorry I'm kind of busy right now to give you a proper write up on the steps.
Look at carloswii5 video in the unlock bootloader, so you can learn how to perform an offline flash and root.
