[Q] SD Card Draining Battery - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, I know there are probably numerous threads on this subject but I wondered if anyone can help.
Whenever I use my music player (poweramp) for hours afterwards SD Card drains my battery like crazy (all my music is on sd card). It starts high then gradually comes down.
Is this caused by a corrupt file and is my only option a reformat of the sd card?
I understand that the SD Card shouldn't use power as its just a storage device but after using my music player the battery drains very quickly. When I look at battery in settings it will show something similar to the following:
SD Card 47%
Screen 23%
Firefox 10%
Media 6%
etc etc.
So, we know that the SD Card shouldnt be draining the battery but looking at the above it is draining the battery. Just wondered if anyone knew why this is happening?
The percentage that the SD Card is using gradually drops over the next few hours, prob around 4-5% an hour. But whilst its running it can drain my battery at between 3-5% per 20 mins.

47% SDCard is def. strange. If you have root try to use BetterBatteryStats to isolate the battery drainer.

Does the battery drain faster with an SD card in the slot?
If so, is it a noticeable differrence?

[Q] Problem: Battery drains completely after removal of sim card

Hello buddies,
I have purchased the handset in the month of July.
I dont know if this is a problem which I observed yesterday as I wanted to change the sim card.
After I change sim card I observed that battery is around 2%. Earlier it was above 50%.
Now today this problem happened again as when I removed the sim card and replace it, the battery again drains out.
Otherwise battery performs normally. no sudden discharge.
Guys pls tell me wat shd I do?
thanks.
Maybe once you remove the battery to remove your SIM card, the battery contact did not sit properly in the phone once you put it back in. So, you're getting higher resistance which leads to higher battery drain...

Prime dock battery problems

Since ive had my prime ive noticed a couple of times ive woke up and even though the prime was switched off the dock battery had drained a bit, first time down to 60 % thismorning down to 40%. i just noticed that the dock has a SD card in it, (was copying over some photos the otherday forgot to remove it) is there any chance that the card being in there could be using power?
Hmm, same problem of my friend.. he re flash the software and then reformat the sd card and then all fixed..

Battery drain problem

Hi all,
I have read almost every threads related to this problem but nothing solves my battery drain problem
Everything was fine with my battery until one day I was at work and didn't have my charger so my phone went off because of empty battery. After that when I pluged my charger battery wan't charge at all, it was dead completely. I went to the store I buy new battery but I still have problem with draining very fast. It takes a lot of time to even charge the battery to 100%...after 10 hours of charging battery is just 30-40% full. One time battery was at 68% and I turned phone off...after turning it on again after few seconds battery is at 28%...
I tried everything that I could find in other threads - factory reset, deleting cache, dalvik cache, battery stats, calibrating battery, putting phone in flight mod, checking battery stats, background apps, removing SD card, deleting all apps, turning off media scaner...but nothing helps, battery is still charging very slow and drains very fast...
I have JB 4.1.2 stock rom on my phone and also tried with gingerbread 2.3.3 stock rom but problem is still there...
What could be a problem?? Please help...
Have you tried another charger?

Yes, i tried with original AC adapter, usb cable and even with HTC AC adapter...
The usb port might be damaged...I'll guess your battery never get's 100%, that's why it's drained too fast.

That's true, in last 2-3 days I'm trying to charge it but I didn't get 100% yet...not even when I shutdown the phone...it shows 100% but when I unplug the charger it's on 40-50% only.
It look like my problem is solved
I'm not sure what solved my problem but here is what I did last:
I have removed SD card from the phone and deleted Google Services App, then I turn on flight mode and connected phone to AC adapter...battery was at 28% and it tooks about 5-6 hours to fully charge the battery. After that I have disconnected the charger and after 15 hours my battery is at 88% with some minimal use of the phone (few SMS, 5-10 minutes on the internet via wi-fi and some settings). I also tried to turn off the phone and power it again and everything is normal, I didn't lose any percentage of the battery like before. I also have putted back my SD card and there is no problems ( it has same files like before, it's not formated ).
I'm very satisfied with this battery life so far, I never had better
So, to conclude this, it looks like Google Services was draining my battery or maybe it was because of the new battery so it needed to be formed.
Anyway, I hope that this will be usefull to someone with same problems.
I'm glad you sorted it out mate. Lol with some search it looks like that Google Services app is causing many people battery problems.

S6 edge battery drain on idle (android os battery drain)

i recently purchased an s6 edge and updated it to 5.1.1 as soon as i got it.however i went to sleep on 100 percent and woke up to about 20 percent which is a massive drain in battery..the battery stats show ADROID OS on top of the list which is keeping the CUP active all the times and not letting the phone go in to sleep..i tried a factory reset but it did not fix the issue. i disabled most of the bloatware that did not fix the issue either..then i noticed that when i remove the sim card from my phone my phone goes in to deep sleep and battery life comes back to normal however when i plug in the sim card the phone can not go in to deep sleep again..any possible solutions?
I figured it out..the issue was with with my sim card for some reason..the phone would be fine on idle without my sim card but with the sim card it drained battery..i tried another sim card on it and the issue got fixed right away.
I have an s6 edge tmobile being used in a different country and it drains 90% battery over night i have disabled all the bloatware and battery consuming apps . I have tried keeping my phone on airplane mode and greenify with root ive tried the locatuon method on youtube yet drain is the same . Only if i power off the phone at night its battery remains same . Also i have tried ultra power saving mode but nothing works . Battery stats show device idle and display on top but all the remaining app dont show any abnormal battery usage . And the phone works normal if i use it continuosly even then i get 3-4 hours with heavey usage . The only problem is when the phone is at idle it starts consuming abnormal amounts of battery . Any solution ?
