Full restore of T-Mobile Vibrant t-959 to custom ROM - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have used an uinlocked tmobile vibrant for a few years now an have had various ROMs inbstalled. However several mo0nths ago it came up semi-brain dead after running Team Whiskey.
Since restoring to what I thought was an original image downloaded from the web, I soon discovered that I could no longer access Google Play/ Android Market. I tried everything and could no longer even restore previous ROM images. I have since discovered that the image was for a T959V and this identifies itself as 4G when it is ion fact not.
I am convinced that there is something fundamentally wrong with file system or the like. Over the months I have also had an increased lag and just weird things happening like the Edge network icon appearing wile connected to wifi , frequent hangs, etc.
I would like to achieve the following if possible
A complete reformat / restore to a more recent ROM in as few steps as possible.
A ROM new enough to hopefully run XBMC on my phone if possible
Update modem firmware??? As I am in Mexico with this phone and would like to access TelCel 3G band and can currently access only Edge
Rooted
unlocked
relatively bug free
Front facing camera hack support as I would like to add hardware
Questions
What is the recommended newest and most stable ROM? Will it run xbmc on this phone?
Can I do a clean install to a third patty ROM?
Will modem firmware get past the frequency band limitations to use the 3G network on TelCel Mexico?
What is the critical stuff to back up?
On an unrelated note does anyone know if the T959V (4g) case will fit on the t959 (3g). I ask this because the lense cover on my case has become fogged. I need to replace this part, and the cases I find on ebay that have this part are for the t959v . Those for the t959 do not have this part. Maybe someone knows where I can get this?
Thanks in advance
Mark

I would use the toolbox, revert to stock, your play problems should be alleviated, however when using odin use Eugene_2E_JK2_Froyo.tar. Eclair is dead to playstore and Rom manager. always keep a backup of your IMEI on your sd/card and computer its important. Use the Update .zip for root its all in the search.Try ics zen if you can find it, verrrrry nice. ciao
pm me on the photo prob, I have a toast vib thats in the desk, it may have more parts than the photo screen if you need it.

Correct me if I am wrong but stock is Eclair. Are you saying that I should revert to a stock Froyo via odin? Everything I have read said I always had to do eclair first. Should I ODIN directly to this Froyo image

??
I tried that download and from mexico it said "this offer is not calid in your area" neither selecting skip ad , nor waiting resulted in anything. I then went through a USA proxy and all I get is a download manager windows exe file. Wonder why people post importyant files to sites like this when they are so often problematic?
What toolbox do you refer to?
Do you mean ICZen as found on this page?

HTC HD2 - Phone Doesn't Ring Sometimes

I have an HTC HD2 and I'm on T-mobile. What I've noticed is that my phone doesn't ring sometimes and then I'll just get a voicemail notification (if voicemail was left). It's an intermittent issue, I've tested it several times from another line.
Does anybody know what the issue is? I did a search on Google and there seems to be a lot of the same issues others are having across other networks and other versions of the HTC but, haven't found a solution.
Thanks
i had never heard of this issue until yesterday, when my phone simply did not ring, then i got a txt asking why i didnt answer. very confusing. only seemed to happen once. i have done a lot of tweaks, so maybe ive changed something i shouldnt have. if it helps im using a generic, unbraded, factory unlocked HD2, with CleanEX DsE 3.5 and radio 2.11. have you tried re-flashing the ROM and seeing if that helps?
interestingly, i have noticed that my signal can be irratic at times, often just dropping for no reason, then coming back about 30 seconds later. i live in a full signal area, so i know thats not a problem. also my data connection will 'freeze' at times, where it shows its connected, but nothing is able to use it, i have to disconnect and reconnect, and this may take 2 or 3 attempts before it connects and is usable. have you experienced the same issues?

I haven't tried flashing the ROM, I've been hesitant on doing that since I feel like I might mess something up. I'm not sure how to either. I have SPB backup, so I would hope if I messed something up then I would be able to easily restore it.
I haven't really noticed any dropping, my call qualities have been good. I've tried to dial a number before and it might drop right then while it's trying to make the call. So, I'll redial the number but, once I'm connected I haven't noticed any issues with calls dropping.
Data connection has been working pretty good as well, I've been using the wifi quite a bit and not really had any issues. I don't have a data plan setup with T-Mobile so I just use the wifi. I don't know if using the actual data connection would give different results than using the wifi.
flashing a rom is really easy it's all autoinstall, just have to read carefully / look at the video's, there A LOT of them out there.

updating the rom may help, as it will also update the radio drivers. what i would suggest, if you dont have much experience in flashing a ROM is to have a look on the official HTC support site. on there it will give you a list of updates avalible for your phone. download the latest ROM for your phone (for me, this is WWE 1.66 with radio 2.06) and install that. any data on an sd card will remain intacted, but sync you phone with outlook and backup stuff like contacts, messages etc before you do it. i personally use microsoft myphone to do all that.
flashing the ROM with an official one is very straight forward, and as quoted above, its all auto install on the phone, and there are about 3 or 4 steps that you need to do PC side (this is all explained in the update program you download). i would give that a go and see if things improve, you will also gain improved performance, new features and better battery life with newer ROMs, so its worth doing
custom roms are a bit more tricky to install, but often offer more features and improvements over stock roms. if you need help with this have a search on the forums, there are lots of guides and help on how to flash with a custom rom

I have a T-Mobile HTC HD2 (U.S.) and I went to the HTC site and on the download page for the ROM update it has ROM Version: 1.66.707.1. When I check the ROM version on my phone it is: 2.10.531.1.1 (82076) WWE
Also it says on there - Note: This update is not intended for use on T-Mobile(US) HTC HD2, and doing so may have undesired side effects.
So, I suppose I'll have to start looking into the custom ROM's.

good job you didnt flash that, the 'undesired side effect' of flashing that official rom (or any other non tmous official rom) on your tmous phone would have been a permanently dead phone.
im not sure about tmous roms, maybe have a look on the t-mobile us support site and see if anything is listed there. if you want to look at custom roms the first thing you will need to do is get hspl (the latest version is hspl3, which i believe is compatible with tmous). if you search on the forums you can find the official thread. this removes the security checks and allows you to install custom roms. after that you will need to choose a radio version. again search on the forum and find the latest one compatible with your hd2 (there is an official radio thread which i would look at). this normally comes with an updater program included, but if not, search for 'custom ruu' and follow the instructions on the thread. finally you need to pick a custom rom. there are literally 100s to choose from, with different features, looks, apps and even some android builds. personally, i use cleanex dse because of its speed and stability. im not sure if this is tmous compatible, so check on the rom threads.
alternativly, you could have a hardware fault with your phone, which will be repaired under warrenty, so you could go down this route. personally, i would do this first and see if things improve, as although custom roms can be uninstalled and the steps can be reversed, the warrenty is voided by using hspl and installing custom roms.
still have the problem? Might not need a hard reset. Try this solution here:
(LINK)
One of your programs might have deleted the "Volatile" folder, so
no Volatile folder => no WMPlayer => no MP3 playback => no ringtone.
Re-creating an empty "\Application Data\Volatile" folder usually brings it all back.
If it fixes the problem temporarily and recurs again, you might have to change the temp folder as outlined in the link above, or just install that CAB.
Hope this helps. If this solves your problem, please edit/add [solved] to your title.

I have the same problem. Sometimes incoming call does't ring, altough the phone vibrates. I'm using an european HD2 with the original 1.48 rom. I didn't found the reason... the changed tweak... the influencing application installed. It seems happening randomly, I can get a call without incoming call ring and after a few minutes I can get a second call from the same caller with a normal ring.

[Q] Does my retail tab think it's I/O? (tried to unroot, now no touchwiz update))

Hello Forum,
I'm having a difficult time with my retail 10.1 wifi tab. I had previously rooted using odin and instructions on a website so that I could load an altered wpasupplicant file. However, I noticed that touchwiz ux wouldn't install yesterday (it would download, restart, get to 13%, then boot and tell me the update failed; happened many times).
So, I unrooted using this method:
"watch?v=xiSXcMbYqfs" (comes after the slash in a youtube.com url, I can't post links apparently)
and did a factory reset. When I went to update, it loaded "P7510UEKG4" (the 11 something mb update), which provided me with a "movies" program. I was under the impression that this update was for the I/O tab, which I don't have. Now, the touchwiz update is unavailable.
Can someone explain to me (or direct me to a site to) return my retail tab back to 100% stock settings? I don't know what is going on with it, but I just want it back to how it came to me.
Thanks!
Jim

Exact same position as you.
I tried the OTA 3.1 (KF3) and only got 11mb update that locked the bootloader.
I am currently trying to go back to 3.0 then update.
same thing happened to me and I have not found a solution sadly. i just installed the rom posted for UEKMB as that puts you back on a retail ver. just it is rooted and such.
I'm back at 3.0.1 but still can't get an update using kies and through settings
I was in the exact position also. Reinstalled CWM, installed stock ROM with TW-rooted, from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198921
Everything is perfect. Movies show up in market, Netflix still works perfect. This is how Samsung should have released this tablet. I really like TW and the additional apps preloaded (swype, media hub, etc...)
I'm in the same boat as well. B00sted, did that rom you mentioned work for you? Where did you get it if it did.

I guess I'm gonna have to use this, I just wanted to go back to stock so i could get OTA updates without hassle.
I felt the same way also, but with the eaze of using Clockwork Mod, this is really a non issue for me anymore. This is the first Android device I've doing any hacking on and it is so easy I will probably do my HTC Incredible soon.
Thanks gpgofast, I took the route you suggested. Everything's in order. Only problem is that now my wpa_supplicant replacement doesn't work and I can't connect to my droid's ad hoc network (which is why I rooted the tab in the first place). Oh well, that's a topic for a different thread.
Thanks,
Jim
Why don't you just load up the this stock rooted rom and use Netflix, Samsung Media Hub(Google market movies) and your wpa_supplicant.?
ALso,here is the stock firmware that Samsung provides go to bottom of page for all the info you need. You could also go to the first post in Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android Development and go to this link from there. Its in big red words after the CWM recovery menu list.
Hi tdavis, that's what I did (loaded up the stock rooted rom at the link you pasted, and replaced the stock wpa_supplicant). When I do this, wifi won't start, it says "error". Maybe it's a touchwiz thing? The wpa_supplicant I used was created pre-touchwiz. Here it is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1083182.html
Note: this worked just fine when I was using a previous (non-touchwiz) stock rooted rom. This was the previous rooting method I used:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krQDP7xYlWg
Any thoughts?
One other thing... I did load the stock rom that you mentioned in the second part of your post. With it, I couldn't get the touchwiz update, which is why I installed the stock rooted touchwiz rom you mentioned.
OK, nevermind, the modified wpa_supplicant works fine on the stock rooted touchwiz rom
If you find yourself in the same position as me, remember you have to change the permissions for the new wpa_supplicant file so that it can execute. Also remember to put your tab in airplane mode while swapping the file, and to restart when you're done. (I didn't change the file as suggested by the original poster, I just used root explorer to swap the file).
As noted by the original poster of the wpa_supplicant file, after you disconnect from an adhoc network, you should restart wifi (or else you can't connect to other networks, at least I couldn't). You may also have to "forget" your ad-hoc network before you connect to that network on subsequent occasions (had to do this on the last stock rooted rom, haven't tried on this one yet, but assume it's the same). Small price to pay, works great.
Thanks everyone, thread SOLVED.
Nice. Glad you got it working. I hardly get an answer from one person its always a pieced together answer.

Canadian SGS2 Virgin Mobile Firmware Upgrade

Hi. I have the Canadian SGS2 from Virgin Mobile.
I want to update the firmware on the phone but Im unsure as to which one to use. Right now the latest firmware for this specific phone is UGKG2. My model number is GT-19100M. Im just wondering which firmware would be the best to update to. Ive been having a few issues with my phone and apparently updating the firmware is suppose to fix it (like the Wifi sharing garbage that starts every time you tun wifi on, but doesnt go away when you turn it off)
Anyway - which firmware would be best to update to, or if it would be best to just update to the latest which I think is XKH2.
Help is appreciated. Thanks!
Yeah sounds like you are on an older firmware which a lot of us battled back in May with the wifi-sharing battery drain. You'd be safe flashing any ROM really. Not sure if you prefer stock firmware only or not as some of the custom roms are great. I'd suggest KH3 as many bugs have been fixed that are evident still in your ROM. But you may want to check to see if anyone has a backup of your current rom in case you need to take it in for warranty. I have an i9000 but friends who are using i9000m Bell model are able to flash any i9000 rom without issue as there really is no difference from what I know. If you do flash, keep in mind that your boot logo will say i9000 and not i9000M, which is why you may want to look into backing up your current rom (by rooting and flashing a custom kernel to make a backup) just in case you need to flash back for warranty repair.
I use Batista Rom and really like it but I always tend to prefer custom roms. I think you'd be better on any newer rom, stock or custom to get rid of the bugs you got in that firmware you're on
so to be clear - I can download KH3 and use Odin to flash without issue, Even though Im on the stock I9100m Virgin Phone? And KH3 is a single TAR file that needs to be placed under PDA correct? I basically just want my phone to be the exact same as it is now except with the firmware updated.
Will anything be different or will it all seem the same as if I were to do a factory reset right now?
Also where KH3 is 2.3.4 and my phone is currently 2.3.3 - this wont lead to issues when using Odin?
Thanks for the replies.

Yes you can flash KH3 using Odin under the PDA section. Depending on where you downloaded the KH3 firmware it probably wont wipe your phone so I normally do a factory reset after just to make sure it's a clean install. Make sure you back up anything you don't want to loose. Also take note that the KH3 package includes files that will change your boot up image from I9100M to I9100. If you want to keep things as close to stock as possible you can remove these files from the package since you don't really need it: boot.bin/sbl.bin/param.lfs. All you need to do is use winzip or 7zip, double click on the .tar file and delete.
Haha. Thanks for the replies.
I'm happy to say that everything went without a hitch - and all of my problems have been solved. One funny thing, was the camera shutter sound - which from what I read is suppose to be hardware related - was actually fixed as well - no more sound when opening the camera app.
Battery Improved
Wifi Sharing bug = gone
Shutter Sound = gone
Random restarts while listening to music = gone
And I got list view
Thanks guys!
im in the same boat. i just got a galaxy s2 a couple days ago. I just want to flash my phone to 2.3.4. Which firmware do i download? Where did you find KH3? thanks

Samsung NFC i9100p model

Hi,
I just thought to start a thread for people that own the UK Orange Galaxy SII NFC Edition (Model GT-I9100p). Had this phone for a little over 2 weeks now and learned a lot from both XDA and sammobile. Okay here are my experiences so far:
The phone that I have comes with Android version 2.3.4 and has Orange applications pre-installed.
What I have been able/unable to do?
Able to root using DooMLoRD v4 exploit - yes!
Able to debrand uninstall Orange Apps using Titanium - yes! ( BUT not the logo at startup though)
Able to use CWM recovery - no! Not unless you are willing to put an insecure Kernel that is and then lose functionality of the NFC. There are some threads that post an NFCEnabler.zip file that you can flash post installation of the insecure Kernel but my experience has been giving me errors when I try to turn NFC on so it's a no go if one wants to keep NFC.
So far the above list is things possible using the orignal ROM that is branded with Orange.
The next thing I have been able to do is install 2.3.6 Samsung stock ROM (list of ROMs found at sammobile.com) - however as this is for the non NFC version you lose that functionality. Also DooMLord exploit does not work with this version so no root (haven't tried any other methods - if anyone else has feel free to update the thread). I have also installed 4.0.3 ICS from sammobile.com but found this a tad buggy (mainly Kernel Panics) - and again no NFC.
A caveat for anyone planning to venture down that route beware, if you want to go back to Orange stock ROM you will get errors stating Cannot mount /efs and /cache directory(ies) etc - took me a while to figure this out but you can get your original Orange rom back if you use Odin3 v1.85 check Re-Partition, Auto-Reboot, F-Reset Time, use a PIT file (I used u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4) and the Orange stock ROM (again found at sammobile).
So at the moment I am back with the original Orange ROM as I want to have NFC.
I hope this is useful and would be happy to create a thread of Q&A for owners of the NFC GT-I9100p edition.
Cheers,
J
Thanks for the info, I'm using the same model, I've rooted using doom lords v4, and disabled some of the orange bloatware using nobloat,
however I can't find orange backup to disable it, I network unlocked my phone to use giffgaff instead so don't want this to run after each reboot, the only orange app left on the systems app list is signal boost which when disabled messes up the phone, maybe orange apps, games and back up is built into this our something, because I can't seem to find them on the list..
Did you remove signal boost?

The fact is that you can flash any i9100 Custom Rom on the i9100p...The only inconvenient being that you'll lose NFC...which is not a big deal anyway as there is barely nothing you can do with it...at the current time
I no I can flash any rom/kernel I am happy with rooted stock tho because I keep NFC and tv out via mhl. I just want to no how he removed orange backup and orange app store?

Hi - no I left signal boost just in case I need it (as I am using both Orange and T-Mobile sim cards at the moment). Since my last post I have actually removed a few more apps using Titanium - I removed the backup and orange using the same method. One thing though, when I removed the Orange Home Selector app I got a boot loop and had to do a reset in recovery 3e (& had to reinstall my apps) but then funny thing after that the home selector app is no longer there - I am guessing Titanium removed it from the actual ROM and upon reset it is no longer there?
The only Orange branded things I have now on the phone are the Orange Internet icon for the web browser, Signal Boost and the annoying splash animation when booting up/down the phone.

If you want you could also change the boot animation to the original SGS2 one or a custom. Details are within the forum.
Sweet - thanks for that
I followed this article here and I used the bootanimation.zip file for the boot up and the shutdown.zip for the boot down & works perfectly - thanks again for the heads up!
UPDATE: Do not remove Home Screen Selector app
A little more info on removing Orange apps:
I did this (removed Orange Home Screen) and just found out that any launcher installed thereafter (Tried ADW and Go) makes the phone reboot into a loop and can't get passed the samsung logo animation....I even tried other home launcher managers from the App Store to the same effect!
PS you can fix the loop by going into recovery (3e) and rest all data etc

OP:
Let me get this straight... you flashed a standard I9100 firmware (in other words, NOT an I9100P firmware... I9100 firmwares DON'T support NFC), then attempted to flash just a kernel to try to get NFC back?
I'm about 90% certain on this: NFC support is NOT in the kernel. If you remain on your stock i9100P firmware, you can flash whatever kernel you want that supports an I9100 (including insecure rooting kernels, Siyah, SpeedMod - whatever), and you should not lose NFC.
Well I thought so too but after flashing an insecure kernel (the one I tried was GT-I9100_ClockworkMod-Recovery_4.0.0.2.tar which contains a zImage file inside) the NFC option disappeared from under Wireless & Networks. Then I tried the NFCEnabler.zip option to bring it back and did get it back but could not enable it as I was getting an Error Occurred message.

Where did you get that tar? Based on the name of the tar, it sounds like it's just cwm recovery... So you never tried a CF-root kernel?

Everything I got is from various threads here on XDA (apart from the offical ROMs which I got from sammobile) - maybe it wasn't a kernel...I did try another zImage which was meant to be the Orange France NFC Kernel (again downloaded from a thread on XDA - filename KERNEL_I9100PBVVKI2) and even with that NFC was not there...I am staring to think I should have gotten a non NFC phone... ;-)
Hi all. I have just received one of these after many years as an iPhone user. So i am a total newbie to Android.
Ok i do not want to mess about with my phone at the moment. I wondered if any of you have any idea for a workaround for the problem i am having with KEIS.
I have installed KEIS and i want to run (store) Samsung Apps. Problem i am getting is
"This device is not supported by Samsung Apps, View compatibility list".
I look in the list and select Galaxy SII GT-I9100. But still no use. So i am at a loss. I guess this may have to do with me having the I9100P NFC from Orange.
I would appreciate any assistance please.
Many thanks
Tony
IMO Kies is total piece of cr*p - don't really use it but I have just connected it and I get 'Samsung Apps cannot be run - Please try again later'. Sorry I can't help further with that.
PS you know you can use the Samsung Apps application installed already on the phone if you want apps from there?

But didn't I see somewhere that you already flashed a non i9100p ROM? If so, no kernel is going to bring it back. Nfc.apk is probably gone, and needs to be put back. There's an nfc enabler out there that does that.

Is the PS a question? If so, yes. I've installed need for speed hot pursuit from the samsung apps app.

Okay, originally I flashed a non i9100p and yes lost NFC. I then tried the NFC.apk and did get it back but was getting error occurred when trying to enable the tick box under the wireless settings.
Then I found the original Orange i9100p ROM (on sammobile) installed that, got NFC back but I also wanted to have clockworkmod recovery and not the samsung 3e one and that's when I tried what I thought was the insecure kernel (the CWM file in my first reply) but lost NFC totally after applying that. I then tried the Orange France kernel (also a zImage) and that did not bring it back either. That's where I stopped trying anything else.

What version is your "original Orange i9100p ROM"?
I'd say you need to flash back to your original Orange i9100p ROM, then flash the closest CF-Root kernel to that version. This should retain NFC, give you root, and install CWM all at the same time.
Hi Guys,
I only got this phone today (orange UK version).
I've spent hours on the forum trying to find some guides on how to root my phone and flash clean rom. There seems to be just way too much info for me.
Can you please point me into the right direction?
All I want is to root, remove simlock and flash a standard non-orange ROM.
Thanks
Pete

Do you have an I9100, or an I9100P? (P has NFC)
Look in the sticky in the General section. There is a root guide and a firmware guide posted there.

Hey does anyone wanna share their buildprop, my network is coming up chameleon.
I'd prefer one for Boost Mobile, but that's probably asking for too much, so sprint will do.

I am running the NORMA s6 port ROM on my Sprint note 3, it took a lot of searching and edits but I finally got my network to show up as Boost Mobile AND I have working 4g (working 3g and 1x too).
MMS, GPS, NFC all work as well.
I don’t have 10 posts yet so I can’t contribute on main thread, but when I get home later today I will post my build.prop for you if you’d like. It contains some edits at the bottom of it which were placed there from a “universal boost apn fix” I flashed from the “LG all things root” guide I frequented when I had the LG Volt.
After flashing this, and editing my apns.conf file to have the appropriate info for Boost apn, my lte started working and I haven’t had to mess with my phone ever since.

There are some more things that you will need to edit to enable all of the Boost mobile features for the rom. Specifically in CSC. If you need more info send me a PM and I can help you get your rom even sweeter!
I don't know if this is the right place to be posting this. So forgive me if this question is in the wrong place. I upgraded (with Odin v3.07) from 4.4.4 to NH7 (I believe) and then to OC5. Everything worked fine until I tried to install TWRP. It wouldn't work. It just refused to replace the stock recovery with TWRP. So I finally got Odin to reinstall the software (OC5) again after doing a factory reset and cache reset. After getting OC5 to work I booted to stock recovery. When I rebooted into the OS, I started getting before booting was complete, a message saying, "Unfortunately<An App> has stopped". Pulled the battery, replaced it and same thing. Has anyone seen this before, and if so what did you do to fix this?
Thank you,
Owen M, Jones
I don't know if there is any missing info on your explanation. I did notice problems on the ota. I also noticed differences between ota and full odin tar. The first difference i noticed with the full odin tar is the android wiggled its antennas. The second thing I noticed was the initial setup looked different vs ota.
I was also getting system app stopped responding message. I was also too aggressive with titanium backup freezes. Things I used to get away with, were mucking up operation. Out of final despair, I decided to only freeze apps that showed up in the regular app menu, that I didn't use. So far, no force closes. A week or so has past and no issues so far. There area few apps that are showing up in play updates, that aren't in the normal app menu list, and I'm not updating them. The app isn't responding got so bad for me that i couldn't get fully booted to back up anything, and lost data that I wish I could have backed up. Oc5 is tempermental.
My latest snafu was freezing apps so much that settings didn't work. I unfroze everything and only froze apps that were in the app menu. Before I did that, wifi and wifi calling were forced on and a reboot wouldn't turn things off causing that state. That's why I said oc5 is very touchy when digging under the hood and stopping apps and services that you might think are bloat. I might disable ant, which is an app for monitoring fitness hardware, but I just leave it alone and don't update it.

FIRST odin CF auto-root. THEN odin the latest TWRP that supports your specific device model. SM-N900P. If Odin fails to flash TWRP by doing it in this order then contact the TWRP team and see if they can look into it.

Don't go freezing stuff willy nilly. There's no need for that and it will cause problems. There's too many dependecies and freezing the wrong app will effect other system apps/services. Battery life is great if you turn of services that you don't use.

Would it be better to ask for this in the Verizon section?
Galaxy Note 3 on 5.0 lollipop
Can anyone tell me how to root the Note 3 on Lollipop? I used Odin to flash oc5, but I lost root. I flashed cf autoroot 4.4.4, but that didn't work. Then someone said load twrp.img in Odin but pda slot didn't give that option. I am new to Samsung so bear with my inexperiance. I usually add on my Nexus devices. Thanks in advance Guys

Both methods should have worked for you, but just have in mind that you can't use the same odin from cfauto root to flash other tar files than the cfautoroot one, and also you won't be able to flash an img file using odin it has to be a .tar or .md5.
