i want the actual .ruu not some update.zip or pg86img.zip format..just the good ol fashion .ruu
stock rom for hboot 1.4
I'm fine with using the zip file as opposed to the classic ruu, but I can't seem to find an image for hboot with version 1.4. I can only find 1.3. Does anybody know where I can find this?
http://goo-inside.me/shooter/ruu
RUU_Shooter_Sprint_WWE_1.11.651.2_Radio_radio_0.97.00.0518_NV_SPCS_1.15_release_193503_signed.exe
hopefully that is the version you're looking for. i prefer the .zip over the .exe as the bootloader scanning and loading the .zip gives more detailed output than running the .exe.
also i can keep the .zip on the sdcard, renamed of course, for any time in the future i might need it and the .zip is platform independent, i.e. i dont have to be plugged into a windows computer (maybe with correct drivers) to load it.
hope that helps and you won't have to use it very often!
I am new and actually downloaded the viper rom and most thing on my evo 3d are not running. Wi Fi, 4G, and other things. I actually downloaded this RUU and got a Error 155 then I tried it in Bootloader and it started to read but then again it read error 155. It says I need a different recovery tool. If anyone could shed some light I would be grateful.

You should be able to get the RUU from the htc website.
I will try that. Much appreciated but I know think it might have something to do with the update I did a few days ago. CHEERS!

But i do not have the stock recovery and unsure how to get it.
I tried skipping the step and just going from re-locking phone to updating from bootloader but I get a CID incorrect error.
Any help is appreciated, I have never had so much trouble updating a ROM
PS.
I wasn't aware so much was needed to upgrade from my BulletProof ROM to this ROM, I just flashed like I would have before and now I am in an HTC Boot loop

I went through that, but the RUU is an exe, or do I rename the OTA zip file to PH85IMG.
When I went through this process it loaded PH85IMG, did the check and then nothing. Never asked me to update or anything. I wouldn't have posted to ask for help if I didn't need it.

No. Connect your phone and flash the EXE. PH85IMG is ONLY for T-Mobile Users. Everyone else uses an EXE.
LMAO some things never change
Good luck with ICS

Thanks for your help! I have never felt like such a noob....I swear I am actually good with tech lol
So I managed to get my phone flashed, thanks for all of your help, but I thought the flash was suppose to upgrade me to ICS, but it installed a stock 2.3.4 I am so confused. After flashing the EXE am I suppose to use the OTA.zip? If so, from what I am reading I need to S-OFF.
I tried installing CM9 after the flash and I am able to boot, but once its loads and begins the initial setup it freezes on the Select Language screen and reboots. I have searched the forum and no luck.

All the files not being found with different extensions is normal
It always searches for all of these files every time you load the bootloader, and unless you put a pg86.img on your sd card, than it's okay that it's not there.
If a ruu doesn't help, then I don't know, Does the RUU give an error??
If so what does the error say.

You put your phone in fastboot usb, Google it. And double click the ruu on your pc, It's a program its self with an explanitory UI, That is all.

to use tis file you have to take your phone and go into your hboot and select fastboot
next plug your phone up to the computer via the usb cable
the ruu i gave you the link for double click that on the computer and let it run .....this iis something that must be done on a windows computer not a linux
the difference is that one is a zip file and it contains the gingerbread version of android which functions mainly with hboot 1.4,1.5 or 1.04 eng
the zip file can be installed by renaming it to pg86img.zip and going to hboot
the file you are supposed to down load contains the file for ice cream sandwhich which runs on hboot 1.58.... so since youre s-on you have to use this file and run it then you can go about customizing it

If you successfully flashed the RUU and the phone won't boot you probably need to get it replaced.

He said he flashed the RUU successfully and the phone still wouldn't boot. I have no way to confirm that's true but if it is I don't think flashing anything else is going to help him at this point and he should at least get someone at Sprint to look at the phone since presumably it's been reset back to stock.

There is no RUU available yet that will work with the 2.95 update installed which is apparently how you go the phone. You can either get S-OFF and then flash the original RUU and take the two OTA updates, or try flashing one of the stock ROM's in this post. If you want to go back to almost 100% stock and unrooted you will need to flash the unrooted version of the stock ROM and then flash the stock recovery.
The one thing that won't be stock in that scenario is the bootloader since if you lock it the status will show "relocked" rhater than "locked".

You need to install the HTC drivers. Which version of Windows are you using?
Getting S-OFF with hboot 1.58 installed is still uncharted territory for VM users. I suggest you check out the related threads in this forum and post there for help since there are a lot of Evo V 4G users there that can help. They are actually looking for someone in your situation who is willing to try getting S-OFF so I'm sure you will get lots of help.

I flashed viper Rom (don't remember which one) and that gave me stock kernel. Then, I downloaded a .zip file with the drivers to the phone and used the jbear program to s-off. Then , I put 1.04.200 hboot and used the ruu to bring me back to stock. Updated my phone and I am all good. If I get all the folders together might make a tutorial on how to get s-off even after taking the OTS updates on s-on. Or prob. You can hel0 me ramjet73?

Well, we already have guides on both XDA and androidforums.com and the unlimited.io developers that created JuopunutBear have gotten very sensitive about having instructions posted in other places.
I'm curious how you did the wire trick since the Windows downloads are no longer on the unlimited.io website. Did you use an existing guide? At this point we are just trying to figure out what is the best version of JBear to use after VM users have installed the March OTA and have hboot 1.58.
ramjet73
I'm not sure ? I have the folder though , I can send it to you and you can take a look at it?

Yea, just for the jbear portion. I'd appreciate it if you can zip it up and upload it to dropbox or similar and PM the link to me.
As I said, at this point we are just trying to determine which jbear version works best with the Evo V updated to the March OTA and hboot 1.58. If the most effective process warrants a new guide I will be happy to work with you on that.

What is your hboot version?
I hope you have Android SDK installed and running in your system?
I guess I have just run into the same issue. I wasn't able to find any help in the "Device Essentials" thread, unfortunately.
I have no rom. ADB doesnt work when phone is in bootloader or recovery (twrp 2.6.3.0) and I can't mount the usb storage to get the rom onto my phone. I miss the days of my samsung captivate....It was so easy!! Thanks for reading.
I guess the key point here is that I can't sideload anything because adb isnt working in recovery. My hboot is 1.40.

Did you try one of the toolkits like Windroid or Hasoons Toolkit. I would use Hasoon2000's first to return device to stock condition, and then try Windroid if that does not work.

this should fix it. if that RUU does not work, try the link to the RUU I gave for parkerdjohnson
