Using Flash Tools to Flash CWM Recovery to A116
Requirements:
CWM Rewcovery
Flash Tool
A computer
A Micromax A116 (obviously)
Steps To Follow:-
1. Install drivers for your phone using Micromax drivers.
2. Extract the Stock ROM folder and replace recovery.img with cwm recovery.
3. Extract and open the SP Flash Tools.
4. In SP Flash Tools, click on Scatter-Loading and the program will ask you the location of the scatter loading file for your device.
5. In the extracted folder of the stock rom, go to the folder named "S9201_MP_F4_B1_IN_MMX_0.16_flasher_user" and select the file "MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc" which is our scatter loading file.
Check only recovery.img, preloader and uncheck all others.
6. Switch off your phone (Remove the battery to make sure it is switched off).
7. In Flash Tool, go to Options and Click USB Mode so that it is enabled. Click options again and then go to DA Download All > Speed and finally select High Speed.
8. Click the Download option (present on the right of Firmware
> Upgrade option) and the flash tool will start looking for your phone.
9. Connect your phone now. The Flash Tool will start the flashing process, the progress of which can be viewed from a yellow progress bar at the bottom of the flash tool.
**Don't interrupt this process as it can potentially brick your device.
**Make sure no power interruption takes place. (Use a laptop to ensure this).
10. After the process completes, a green ring will appear on your device signalling that the process was successful.
11.Disconnect your phone.

I'm getting the following error(attached screenshot) when I reach Step 8. After I click on YES...I just connect my phone and nothing seems to be happening..the programs just gets stuck it seems...
Could you please let me know what I'm doing wrong.

I had flashed the recovery, CWM v6.0.2.5 was mentioned on the top, however the center CWM logo was replaced with some diffrent logo and chinese characters, i have now replaced it with CWM 5.5.0.4.
but yes the recovery did work.

The language of the recovery is in English, the logo in the center is of different language.

I tried that but it's still giving me the warning and nothing seems to happen after I press OK... I uninstalled the drivers as I thought that may be the problem, but the warning sign still shows up.

Mmx drivers are only for 32bit so it might not work on 64 bit . U need a 32bit os for that

follow the tutorial ,don't flash xperia p rom and kernel.

First of all u should be on ics,if u are in jb,flash back to ics with flaahtool.now root ics,install cwn recovery,then install jb kernel.zip via cwm amd then dont reboot,then install jb.zip.for more help: just check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41526803#post41526803.

Hello, i'm new with all this flashing and rooting, so sorry if i'm a bit noob.
So I created a flashable zip using percy_g2's tutorial for my Xgo and did as said for the flashing. All went well and I thanks you and him a lot.
He said that for the theme manager the fc won't appear after a reboot but for me the theme manager is always fc'ing and I can't pick pictures from the album for my wallpaper.
More precisely the select window appears but it stay black and when I touch on the screen it select a picture. So I can pick pictures for my wallpaper but can't choose them as the select screen is black.
If you know a way to fix this I will be very glad.
Anyways big thanks for this rooting tutorial.

You must in ICS first, then root it(ICS), then install CWM(still in ICS), and install JB.ZIP just like in OP

I have the stock 4.2.1 ROM installed which I flashed using SP Tools. I haven't deodexed the ROM (I didn't even know what it meant before I googled it.)
So, do I have to deodex the ROM before I can use this MOD ? Sorry, if this is a stupid question (since you mentioned that this app is for deodexed ROMS).
Also, if have to deodex, is it possible to deodex only a certain library that is required by the MOD? I am asking because I guessed that deodexing would slow the system.

no you cant..
you have to deodex the whole app and framework ..
well you can try it on your ROM I cant say It will work on that but I'll try to make this work.....
Note: If it didn't worked you have to flash the whole system again, with data
PS: deodexing doesn't slow down the device

Well, I tried the sms app. Doesn't work on odex rom. I even converted the deodexed apk from the flashable zip to apk + odex using a script posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1879128 . That too didn't work.
Tomorrow, I am going to try and mod the Mms.apk from the stock rom (odex). I'm thinking of deodexing the apk, decompiling it, modding, recompiling and then again creating apk+odex. I have got no experience in modding. That should work right?

Stuck!!! BOOT LOOP! Help...
I flashed the 100% transparent zip.. it was stuck in a boot loop. I flashed the revert back zip.. Still stuck!
It would be really helpful if you could post a Tutorial/How To for making the Transparent Status Bar for Canvas HD A116.
don't think there is any tut for doing that for Canvas HD A116.
searched for it didn't find any for this device, tried the one's for other devices but didn't work!!

*install the flash tool -http://androxyde.github.io/
*install the drivers inside the folder name driver(C:\Flashtool\drivers)
*Now open the flashtool and click the highlighted icon.(My mark is unhighlighted because 4n is already rooted)
*After clicking that window appears it asks supersu or super user click super user..
*Then appears window in the 4n and gve 2 choices ..press restore(if doesn’t ask don’t afraid)
*Then waiting until ur rooting process done..(Don’t do anything to 4n when process running it may takes 2-5mins)
**{Ur 4n may reboot 3 times.dont unplug the device)
If it success u can see this icon on ur 4n menu

Hey bro... do i still need to unlock my phone's bootloaders if i m rooted and have recovery installed if i want to flash a custom rom/kernel!?
and whats mango, coconut and stuff!?
If u want to flash custom kernal u should unlock ur boot loader..
Bt u can instal custm roms withoul bl unlocking!most of the roms suport both bootloarders.
But without rooting and&cwm u cant do anything

can you please suggest a rom with locked bootloaders which is of 4.2.2!? i can not find any... also i m unable to unlock my boot loaders because when i try to unlock bootloaders with SE bootloader unlocking unlock code field turns gray and doesn't respond further... don't know where did i go wrong!
i'd really appreciate your kind help!

There isn't any rom with 4.2.2 Android for locked bootloader.
For 4.1 & 4.2 you must change your kernel which is impossible without unlocking bootloader.
You should check in service menu if is possible to unlock bootloader in your phone, and (if yes) try Sony official method.

i have tried it... not working for me.... followed all the instructions carefully... software is not working as it should!
Hey all...
I previously ported CWM to my MT6572 device (i.e lava iris 402) using auto port tool for MTK phones . It ported , booted , i thought to make backup first , Then it made back up in just 10 sec , i thought something is going wrong . after that i rebooted the phone AND it was stuck on boot logo .
Tried to restore stock ROM via SP Flash tools but no luck , From day 1 it was not working in my phone , it shows error some thing like " layout has been changed"
Checked sd card on pc , saw the backup which recovery made was just of 10-20 MB
Nevertheless my phone was in warranty period so gave it to SVC , and have got it back ( Motherboard was changed , even those guys were not able to flash stock ROM)
In the mean time when i was phone less i unpacked the stock recovery.img , went to /etc/fstab file .. And saw that the partitions of /system , /cache and /data were ubifs instead of ext 2,3,4 or yaffs which are commonly used ...
Came to know that cwm does not support ubifs file system . This thing i think bricked my phone . Recovery which i ported was of MT6577 phone which had ext4 fs.
Now i want to know how can i port cwm to this cursed device ? Which uses an unknown ubifs file system . Bricked once earlier now i dont want to brick again ....

Me too faced same problem. Copied the preloader from Sp flash to outside and it was OK with firmware upgrade. But this too didn't go well finally flashed stock ROM with new Sp flash and got back phone.
Flashed the cwm recovery of 3g rain mt6572 through mobile uncle tools but it was not functioning. Flashed the original recovery through the same tool and it is working.

you can try this block for cwm recovery mtk6572 (system 4,cache 5,data 6,sdcard 7),my device (s720c) using that but in stock recovery it so different (system 6,cache 2,data 3,sdcard 4),i don't know why but it work for me and here is cwm recovery i ported for my device,it work fine,hope it work for you :victory:
Flashed the cwm recovery, phone boot by normal mode only even if pressed volume+ and power.

r u able to boot into recovery...if yes then got to backup and restore n then restore it..choose the earlier backed up file ans select restore ...it will recover ur phone..and if u want to back up then simply select backup it backup ur current rom

if you would like to install CWM recovery you have to install the recover.img using MTK Droid Root & Tools, you probably get the screen upside down but it doesn't matter since you don't use the CWM all the time

I have the device MT6572 kitkat ubifs.
Already some special custom recovery ported ubifs I've tried, but the problem is always on the screen that can not be touched on the recovery custom mode. Can I ask for help to make a custom recovery ubifs for my device, I include stock recovery from my device

This one is just fake status mode. In the original post it is written that it wont effect system status setting. It will just make a fake status thats the reason u cant do update ota. Its better to use triangle away. Anyway thanks for sharing bro.

If u dont have cwm installed or if u flash stock recovery after rooting, TrianglAway will make the official status permanent. Just enable syatemworkaroundmod and then disable it without restaring. After disabling restart phone and u will get official status in quattro. By the way OTA wont work if u have cwm installed as it will make bootloop.
