After my tablet has been asleep for a while I'm having major problems with Wi-Fi. It appears that I am connected but no data is being transmitted.
Sometimes, if another wifi network is available I can switch to this new network and back to my preferred and then the Wi-Fi works OK again (for a while.)
Other times when there is no other network available or I am unable to connect to the other network I turn of Wi-Fi or switch to Airplane mode momentarily and then try to re-enable my Wi-Fi - then my Wi-Fi on/off button refuses to switch back to On and keeps switching itself back to Off.
The only solution at this point is to reboot the tablet.
I have tried "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep - Always" and "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep - Never"
I have tried "Disable powersave" in advance Wi-Fi options.
This is extremely frustrating as Archos upgraded me from a 101G9 because I had four devices each with different faults and now this!
Otherwise I'm happy with the tablet overall, it's far more responsive than the 101G9 and the coverboard is useful.
Does anyone have any idea why this could happen? Anyone else with similar problems? Anyone know a solution?
Try going into settings and selecting wifi never sleep. Worked on my 80g9.

Re: 101XS losing Wi-Fi after sleeping
Tried that Steve, make no difference unfortunately.

I fixed it by electing to turn Wi-Fi off when the tablet sleeps, which is annoying as I no longer get email alerts etc.
Hope for a fix in a later firmware...

This seems to be a problem with android itself. Wifi never automatically connects to saved networks when in range.
I have to use an app called wifi fixer to monitor my wifi connection- it connects to a wifi network that I have saved when it is in range.
Below were my original questions I posted in the general section by mistake. After a lot of searching I found the folder organizer app can create short cuts to folder or categories for apps. So I can have a short cut in the launcher that goes to all my games, or utilities.
I haven't figured out how to make the cell radio being turned of be persistent. So I just have my device set to airplane mode- but when I reboot it I have to turn the wifi back on.

1. I'm on StreakDroid 1.6.0 and everything is gravy cept for WIFI not connecting automatically. That seems to be a problem with Android itself. For me it is a problem because I'm not using a dataplan because I get free wifi through my cable co. I'm using csipsimple with my old gizmo5 account that I bought with my n810.
2. Does any launcher do app draws? I'm using Launcher pro and it would be nice if I could put a folder in the dock to store all my games.
3. Anyone know if I can use 2 bluetooth controllers with this on emulators? I'm still waiting on my Datel classic wiimote but it would be awesome if I could use two controllers.
4. How do I remove the No Sim card message? I use this as a wifi device and I had it set to airplane mode for a while but then I found the app "any cut" and made a short cut to turn off the cell radio. Apparently if I have it set to airplane mode it turns off wifi by default- and I thought that was the reason why wifi doesn't connect automatically but I still have to manually initialize wifi. I have wifi set to never sleep btw*
5. Turning off the cell radio isn't a persistent setting it seems. Does the cell radio still use battery power if there's no sim card in the device?

Streak WIFI Issues
I am having the same problem. Running 2.2 with 318 baseband. Phone can find wifi but will not stay connected. Phone goes into an endless cycle of connecting and immediately disconnecting. I am able to get WIFI to work by putting the phone into airplane mode. Anyone have a fix??
Are you using the stock rom or dj_steve's? I've heard of people getting disconnected from wifi if the signal is weak. There's a way to turn of data on 3g under wireless settings. I believe that would prevent it from switching between 3g and wifi connections.
I don't really have this problem though. Once it connects to one of my saved networks it stays connected. It's just that android doesn't do this automatically when a saved network is in range.
WIFI Issues
I'm on stock rom. WIFI signal doesnt seem to be in the issue as I have been within 5 feet of the router and had the issue happen. I'm reluctant to turn 3G off as I need it on to make and receive calls in my house via Microcell.
You probably have to change that setting under wifi that puts the wifi radio to sleep when the screen turns off. I have mine set to never.
You may also want to run wifi fixer- which will automatically reconnect you when you get disconnected.
I'm going to try this:

The 2 programs that I use have helped me with my WIfi issues. Its not 100% but it does work 95+% for me.

Try rebooting your wireless router. I have 2 netgear wgr614's. One at home, the other at work. After several connect/disconnects, it goes in the connecting/disconnecting loop until I reboot the router. Go figure...
What I did that seems to have worked is to set up a static IP address instead of having the router assign it for me (DNS). Since then my Wifi connects every time. I could be wrong but it seems to have worked for me.

I'm a dumba... You're correct. DHCP

You mean DHCP not DNS. Mine always connects when tuurning wifi on but if left on and my streaks sleeps for an extended amount of time it will not connect till I turn wiring off then back on. I also have wifi sleep policy set to never. Had that issue with nexus one as well.

Has anyone else had the same problem wig their flyer where it keeps dropping the wi fi connection.
I have a legend number of other devices connected to my network including android phones and an iPad and no others have the same problem.

I have same issue. I tested device on different WiFi routers. I think the problem only with old WiFi routers. With routers that support WiFi n standard I don't have this problem.
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using XDA Premium App
I don't think that is the issue as I have a fairly new draytec router with b, g and n mixed mode and all other devices connected to it are fine
I have the same problem with my router. Happens everywhere - on my wireless G router at home and on Wireless-N at work. I have both power saver and sleep mode disabled. (though I don't think either setting was causing the problem.)
I flashed my flyer with honeycomb and the problem went away. It only happened with the gingerbread build
If your signal is good then there is an issue with Android's handling of DHCP (not specific to Flyer or HTC) that you might run into on certain setups. One way of fixing this is to establish a static IP for your device on your network. Of course if you do not control the router, you can't do that but at home you can. read this for information on the issue. http://www.net.princeton.edu/android/android-stops-renewing-lease-keeps-using-IP-address-11236.html
This issue keeps popping up across the board on android tablets because they are often on wifi, more than phones.
I don't know why, but if I switchoff 3G network when use WiFi connection, WiFi works fine. Try this.
Solution
I feel foolish. I had been looking under power settings, but the setting that fixed this issue for me was under Wireless & Networks -> Wi-Fi settings -> Menu Button -> Advanced -> Wi-Fi sleep policy. By default on my Best Buy Wi-Fi only Flyer this is set to "After 15 min".
This was a real pain, because email doesn't push in the background and when you wake the device, it has to reconnect, then sync every time. Switching this setting to "Never" has really improved my day to day use of this device.
I've noticed that I'm losing Wi-fi connection very often. Its coming randomly... first for example I using browser Dolphin HD and connection is lost...
2nd - I turn Prime in the morning for the first time and doesn't work immediately.
After restarting it works, but this is happening now almost every day.
Wi-fi antenna shows half of signal so this should be working. But the problem is that antenna is in grey color instead of blue color.
U know if you click manage WiFi settings then click option screen there is a advanced setting where you can change WiFi to best preformance this should help you
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
I see no option for best performance in advanced settings????
Go to wireless settings hit manage WiFi access points hit menu then hit advanced then check box for performance
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
I think he is talking about the wifi disconnection policy. No such thing as "performance" in wifi settings.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
About what kind of "policy" are you talking about ? i didn't hear anything about that..... what is that normal to lose wifi connection? nothing we can do?
At the wifi screen, at the very top right corner of your screen next to the add network button there is a button with 3 squares on it. Tap it, then tap advanced. Then change Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep.
Do a factory reset and see if you have same problem maybe its a bad update/flash
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
Also try restarting your modem/router and see if that helps. Sometimes the fault may not be on the device itself.
I also have this problem!! The wifi disconnects very often on my campus which makes things really annoying. It seems like an software issue to me though since restarting the wifi makes all the wifi networks display and connect again (until it disconnects again) I have yet to try the factory default solution though.
I still didn't fix this, internet is working fine during that time on PC, but Prime loses connection somehow, I just turned it on and he started of without Wifi connection...

I get back connection after restaring Prime, but that isn't really a solution doing it every day, its annoying at least.

You're lucky. Rebooting the router each time is a pain
WiFi connection
when i upgraded from Transformer to Transformer prime i had this problem constantly. I had to remove the WiFi network profile and re-add it. that seemed to fix the profile going in and out.
My WiFi connection drops randomly, sometimes in 1 minute, sometimes 5-10 minutes. WiFi working fine on my laptop. I have not rooted my device yet. Any solution for this?
You can try to go to the advanced option in the wifi settings and look for "Avoiding weak connection" or something like that and uncheck it.
but i think
You can try to go to the advanced option in the wifi settings
and choose '2.4GHZ only' in 'wifi frequency band'
i have the same problem i think and i solved it by this .

I am having serious wifi issues on my T-Mobile P769 20f Jellybean which makes wifi pretty much unusable.
I have the following advanced wifi settings:
Keep wifi on during sleep = always
avoid poor connections = disabled
wifi frequency band = auto
When I am connected to wifi it will be for no longer than a few minutes before the connection drops. Sometimes it restarts on its own. Sometimes I need to kick it by toggling wifi on and off.
When I am connected I have piss poor link speed, only 5 mpbs. The connection is very slow. It took me on the order of 5 minutes today to download "wifi analyzer", an app which is less than a megabyte.
When I set wifi frequency band to 5ghz, I don't even see the 5ghz network which my dual band router (Asus rt n66u) has created on a separate SSID altogether. I only see my 2.4ghz network but trying to connect to it by clicking on the name does nothing.
When I am connected to my 2.4ghz network I have changed the ip settings from DHCP to static and that doesn't seem to help as other threads I have read suggest. My connection still frequently drops.
Finally I wish to try changing the wifi power saving setting by dialing *#0011# but that just yields "invalid MMI code".
Does anyone have any ideas? I am at my wits end with this wifi that is unusable and I am currently roaming so cannot turn on my data. It seems to me that this is the infamous Jellybean wifi issue but maybe not.
Any help is appreciated.
Yeah jellybean has a lot of problems, ice has the best Wi-Fi driver. I think wind 21b has good wifi, it's been awhile since I've been on that Rom, so I might be wrong. Maybe we can port the wifi driver from ice to the jellybean, not sure if we can though.

It may sound stupid but have you checked that your router firmware is up to date? Other than that I would try a backup if the problem wasn't pre existing. Last resort reflash it.
Sent from my LG-P769 using xda app-developers app
I had this problem whenever I have any "battery saving" app running (Battery Saver, Juice Defender, etc.). Turn them off and have my wifi on all day (or maybe using Llama / Tasker to turn wifi off at night) solves my problem.
