Yes it is, go to applications, then all applications. After that, find the app and select it...you'll see the disable option, that freezes the app.

When you don't have root you have to set a proxy but after I did thay ads still appeared.

You have to go to your Gmail settings within the app, or on the sync settings depending on which version of Android you are running.
They gave me the apk for this game for the htc one because they don't have it for the galaxy s4. Here you go.
