[Q] Help! Nook tablet stuck in CWM! - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

So im stuck in CWM on mt NT but how I got stuck I don't know. Here is exactly what I did,
1) My nook was rooted for some time but I found out about CM7
2) I successfuly got CM7 Running
3) I found out about the Ice cream sandwitch CM9 and couldn't wait
4) when I went into CWM to install it I accidentally hit reboot recovery
So now im just stuck in CWM and everything on my SD card has been erased, but before
Everything was erased I tried to wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache, AND install CM7 again.
Nothing works. Also this is the codes it gives me when it first goes to CWM
E: can't mount / cache/ recovery/ command
E: can't mount/ cache/ recovery/ log
E:can't open/ cache/ recovery/ log
E:can't mount/ cache/ recovery/ last_log
E: can't open/ cache/ recovery/ last_log
Also, when I reboot my nook just dies and I have to wait 5 min for it to start up when I unplug and replug the charger.
when it started to do this it erased everything on my SD card.
Is there a zip that I can put on my SD card and it will reset my nook to out of the box?
Please get back to me ASAP!
Thank you for your help team XDA

Follow these instructions to take you back to stock OS. http://raywaldo.com/2012/06/how-to-un-brick-a-nook-tablet-8gb-or-16gb/
Also if you want to flash CM then I suggest using CM10 or CM10.1. They run a lot better than the previous versions. Depending if you want to internally boot CM or from a SD card you can find anything you wanna do here. http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2012/11/18/cm10-0-jellybean-sdcard-img-for-nook-tablet/
If you need anymore help let me know.

Didnt work
I tried it three times and it didn't work.
When I put the SD card in and turn it on it gives me the red X right away in the corner.
After 2 min it tells me "device is powering down, dont forget to take out the SD card."
Where do I go from here?
Thank you for helping me
Just some input my nook is 8GB and the CWM is internally installed.

Im stuck on a step.
ADB won't read my device and i dont know why?
Heres what I have done
1)Ran the runme.ini
2)Installed the drive correctly cause in the device manager it shows android compsite adb interface.
3)Opend the command prompt and used it right cause it shows that adb is working but its not reading my device a.k.a the letters and numbers do not show.
If you could help me get ADB to read my device that would help alot!
Thanks again for taking the time to help me sorry im a noob

I'm not really familiar with ADB I've only used it once when I first got my tablet. But usually if windows doesn't give you a drive letter then it cant read the partition. I'll do some research and let you know when I find an answer.

If you're looking to run CM10.x internally, try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35669871&postcount=1.
If you're looking to revert to stock, try flashing flash_stock_1.4.2.zip from https://github.com/succulent/acclaim_recovery_sdcard.
Also, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37515697&postcount=31 for potentially helpful info/pointers on rooting & flashing custom ROM.

[Q] HELP !!! Streak wont read SDCard to flash Update.pkg

hi
I ahve downloaded a pkg from dell and want to load the phone back but i am just getting errors
it says it cant mount the SDCard:Update.pkg
any ideas ??
This is the wrong section bro. Are you using the stock recovery?
Sent from my Dell Streak 7 using XDA Premium App
If you are trying to install from recovery rename the package to update.pkg. This will wipe all your apps and settings.
You must use stock recovery to install a .pkg file.
You may need to flash the proper recovery first.
See: Radimus’s Universal Guide to Flashing a ROM
Note: if you downloaded direct from Dell tapping on the download complete notice in the notification should start the update process. This will update without wiping your apsp and settings.
followed that guide and when it should be installing from SD i get the following
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(no such file or directory)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.pkg
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(no such file or directory)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
sorted now, that guide sorted it, but had to change SD Card it was not working in the streak but was ok in the PC.......
anyways... I have never been so happy to see the O2 screen in my life

I had same problem with SD today. Windows PC doesn't format card correctly for phone. Remove the external SD card you are currently using. REPLACE WITH CARD THAT WONT WORK. Reboot phone until it will reboot completely. Go to SETTINGS==>SD CARD & PHONE STORAGE==>UNMOUNT SD CARD==>FORMAT SD CARD. Card will now work in Streak. MAKE CERTAIN YOU DON'T FORMAT THE CARD THAT IS WORKING!!!!!
I've had this same problem, I can't flash anything. I've tried to flash 1.9.1, because I only have 1.9, and I get the same error. I -have- tried changing the name. Doesn't work. Can anyone give me a complete step by step to fix this?
i got it solved
so... this is how it's happened to me.
when i reboot the streak after i fastboot flashed the streak with streakmod recovery, the recovery will be back to stock recovery. so... i have to delete install-recovery.sh from /system/etc to prevent the streak reinstalling the stock recovery, before it succeed to boot android OS.
so i flashed to streakmod recovery and reboot it to go into recovery mode and plan to choose "update from sdcard".
and when i tried to choose the update.zip from sdcard, there's error message:
"can't mount /sdcard"
so, i think that maybe because my sdcard was plugged into PC and got 'half-mounted', so recovery can't mount it.
so i powered it off, eject and re-insert the external sdcard again, powered it on and go into recovery mode, choose the superuser.zip to root my streak... AND... TADAAAA.... i'm all rooted

[Q] Why can't I see SD Card from CMW?

While trying to install a ROM from my SD card with CWM I am getting the message "E:Can't mount SD card" I was able to move it internal and install the ROM but I'm curious why I couldn't do the same the SD card. The card does seem to be mounted correctly because I can go to ES Explorer and see the content with no problem. It only seems to be CWM Recovery that can't see it.

when i was watching the utube videos ( of Albert ? ) . . i remember he had to 'pop the card out and back in again', and then issue the 'read sd card' command once more .... to get it to cooperate . . i am sure i remember that. did you watch the video ?
If you are "rebooting" into recovery, the sd card will often not mount. Rebooting into Android also seems to have this problem. Simply removing the card and putting it back in will solve it for Android. I'm not sure about clockworkmod. I generally just power off and then manually boot into recovery.
I popped and put back in the SD card and now CWM recognizes. However I'm still having issues.
If I load the ROM NT_stock_1.4.0_Ribbon_Root_v2 (from the lavero.burgos thread) after it says that the install is complete I see this.
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
If I load the 1.4.0 stock ROM CWMrestore_1_4_0__plus_NTV16gbV4_6 then as soon as it says Installing update... I get
Installation Aborted
Something is amiss with my CWM
Which model do you have?

It's the 16GB Nook Tablet
Well the ribbon rom shouldn't be seeing that error. You're installing the zip file correct? Maybe download it again. Try another rom like cm7 of cm9 and see what happens.
As for the cwm restore rom, that is not a flashable zip. You need to extract the downloaded file, place it at /clockworkmod/backup/ (on internal or external)and then restore it.

With the ribbon ROM I tried to take it to a place with free WiFi (since the error with not being able to get past the B&N registration due to not being able to connect to my WiFi) and get a different error. It sees the WiFi and when I click to registrator it bails with a message at the bottom that says "B-bind error." So I came home and again downloaded the other ROM (the 1.4.0 called CWMrestore_1_4_0__plus_NTV16gbV4_6) and still get the same error with that one. So I guess my next play is to try a third a third ROM but I'm not too confident that will work either. I've cleared the Dalvik cache. Should I also try clearing any other cache? I'm afraid I may clear out something I need and already kind of have myself in deep enough.
Last resort would be to reimage from an SD card but I feel like I'm so close and there must be something simple to get me over the hump.
How are you trying to install the cwm recovery rom?
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
The ROM was installed by putting the zip in the root of my SD card, going into the CWM menu and using the install zip from sdcard option. I also cleared out the Dalvik cache as rcommended.
The recovery wasn't from a ROM but rather from a backup I did before trying the ROM install. It didn't work for whatever reason.
I've since punted (reimaged via SD card, rerooted and backed up again). The ROM failed again. Same thing where I can't get past the B&N registration page because beacuse my WiFi doesn't connect (Connted, testing). I did notice this time a b-bind error.
The one thing different is that my backup was successful this time as I can restore to the rooted 1.4.0 mode (WiFi works). So I don't need to start from scratch again but still can't seem to get a ROM installed.

[Q] LTE broken - com.android.phone and cant wipe internal

Hi guys,
My phone started to reboot itself every 5-10 minutes today. I rebooted into recovery and loaded a backup from a week ago. Now it loads and I get Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped and it repeats. I never get service.
I've wiped, put on a different ROM, same thing. When I try to wipe internal storage I get an error.
I'm s-off 1.12 hboot
radio 1.02.11.0423_2
I don't know what to do.. Do I have to relock, ruu, then re-root? If so, which RUU?
Any easier fixes?
Thanks
Mount internal storage to pc using twrp, it should say the internal needs to be formatted. You can also try fix permissions and clearing app data for any apps that force close.

i get this:
Install /sdcard/stock w goodies.zip
finding update package..
opening update package..
installing update.
e: error in /sdcard/stock with... zip
above that i see
Using rm -rf of 'dev/block/mmcblk1p1'
e:tw_format_rmfr: unable to locate volume for device "dev/block/mmcblk1
and
e:tw_format_rmfr: unable to locate volume for device "dev/block/mmcblk0
that seems bad
phone hosed? should i try to ruu? i dont want to lose root so im not sure which one to use or what process
No no, mount storage to pc. Go to mount select internal card and hit mount storage and plug it into pc, and it will read as a flash drive. It will recognize it as a corrupt card and tell you that it needs to be formatted. Twrp will not recognize corrupted cards.

I just formatted again on both. Then I added a zip from my PC and it flashed without failing. It booted so we are good. Not sure why didnt work first time around or what caused it in first place.
Think it could have caused the reboots every few mintues earlier today? I hope thats fixed.. otherwise i got a phone dying lol.
THanks again!
It may have just been something simple like a kernel problem. Sometimes everything flashes and you boot android but it doesn't agree with the kernel and it reboots. Sometimes it's because something has been corrupted. Make back ups, keep a copy on pc and it would be handy to keep a wipe script in case you ever have to start over. It's easier to just flash a wipe script and then flash a rom
You should try getting a new sd. I've seen this happen with sd's that are starting to fail. Not saying this is your issue but its something to look into.

[Q] Can't wipe data / factory reset

Ok, I have been searching for my exact issue for the greater part of today trying to solve my issue and I haven't come across anything so far.
I am on running gingerbread 2.3.4 with the UnOriginal 1.4.6 minimalist edition rom.
Basically, whenever I reboot my phone, it reverts back to its state on Sept. 27. For instance If I send a text, upload some music from my computer to the phone, and take a picture, all of that data will be missing when I reboot. All of the texts I sent, pictures I took, numbers I've added, etc. are gone. I can't put files on my phone anymore because as soon as I take it out of USB storage mode, the files are gone.
Things I have tried:
1. A factory reset / wipe data from the phone's settings menu and from CWM
2. formatting /system, /data, and /cache in the "mounts and storage" menu in CWM
3. formatting the phone from my computer
4. flashing a stock rom and PIT file from Odin
5. flashing a rom from CWM
No matter what I do, it always boots up the same as always with the same boot animation, the same text convos, same address book, pictures, etc.
I can't mount anything in CWM's "mount and storage" menu. It just gives an error: "unable to write to ums lunfile"
Does anybody have any ideas? I'm completely stumped at this point.

Thanks for the quick reply. should I format /emmc? I formatted system, data, and cache and when I rebooted, it still booted up to it's sept. 27th state. Should I format system, data, cache, and emmc and then try to get into download mode for odin? Could it be a faulty internal SD?

I mounted the phone to my computer via the in phone prompt instead of CWM and deleted everything off of the internal sd card. As soon as I disconnected the phone from usb storage mode, I used the file browser on the phone and all of the files were still there. Wiping and formatting everything and flashing a new rom in CWM yielded no results as well.
This is really strange behavior to me. Any other suggestions?
You're Making this waaaaaaay to complicated. Just flash another rom. Unless you used rom manager to get into recovery. In which case you didn't read enough. But if not yeah just flash a rom.

Alright so when I go into "mounts and storage" in CWM, I can mount/unmount everything except /sdcard and USB storage.
When I try to mount /sdcard it just says: "Error mounting /sdcard"
When I try to mount USB storage, it says: "E:Unable to write to ums lunfile (No such file or directory)"
What's up with that?

When it says mount USB storage it means external sd card. How do you have your sd card currently formatted? (fat32)?

Ok, well that explains why I can't mount USB storage as I don't have an external sd card, only the internal one.
I tried to reformat the internal sd card from my computer to fat32 (it was already fat32), but it didn't actually wipe anything. I'l try unchecking "quick format".
I tried wiping and flashing a few more roms, but still nothing changes.
Thanks for all the help so far guys, but I still can't figure out what's going on and why I can't seem to modify data on the sdcard long-term.

this problem has been solved? or not yet? cause this my problem too. Cant wipe data. The rom and data are still there.
Why did you necro a 2 year old thread? It would be better to post a new thread stating your issues and information.
I do not remember this issue ever being solved. This may be the only person that has posted with an issue like this, as far as I can remember, until you posted.
What are your symptoms exactly; What firmware is on the phone; What can you do with the phone; What have you tried? Give as much information about your phone as you can think of.
For instance, have you tried flashing the full stock distribution with Odin?
How do you perform this step? mounting the device on your pc. I've tried to do this via terminal on the device itself but it can't get to mount the partitions i need to wipe.

LG L9 II bootloop + factory reset error + error mounting data

So, I have rooted LG L9 II with CWM v6.0.4.6 and CM 11 (KitKat Prime)

Today the phone crashed (it does it once a month so i was not suprised), I took out the battery to reset, because it was not responding.
When I turned it on it had a bootloop.
I was looking for a solution and I discovered i can't wipe dalvik cache, so i tried to do a factory reset and I got something like this:
Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!
I also can't mount data form CMW.
In all threads I read, solving one of this problems require doing another thing I am unable to do
Please help, I want my phone !!!

Did u check the SD card, on a computer, maybe it got corupted?
Also try to sideload again the CM11 (in case u cant mount the sd at all). In the CWM (dont know if u;re cwm versoin has sideload) "install zip" - "install zip from sideload", and from the computer go "adb sideload yourfile.zip"
