Hi guys,
Bought a SanDisk 32gb SDHC Class10 card from Amazon for my GS3. I want to put some music in FLAC onto it so I made a folder called music, but when I try and copy it across it gets a certain way then fails or freezes. Reformatted it last night from FAT32 to exFAT and the same thing is happening still. Hope it's not screwed, just want other opinions.
Cheers,
Eddie.

It shouldn't make any difference but did you try to format the SD Card in the phone, if not give it a go, from Settings > Storage > Format SD Card, reboot the phone, plug in the USB then when the folder option pops up to open the phone select that then create the folder on your SD Card and just drag and drop the music files from your PC folder to your SD Cards Phone folder.
Thanks for the help. I have established now that I am able to transfer music that isn't FLAC with out fault. It has led me to think that perhaps I formatted it to FAT32 and it doesn't like file sizes bigger than 4gb. But I am almost certain that I uses exFAT.

Hello all..... just a quick one..... I have a HD2, and have recently found that I cannot transfer files onto the SD card without running the chance of them not actually showing up. Sometime they do, sometimes they don't.
By the above I mean, if I transfer a music folder across which contains a dozen or so mp3..... the transfer appears to happen okay.... the green progress bar on the laptop takes the expected length of time and the folder appears in the directory of the HD2.... HOWEVER.... when I open this folder, the MP3s are not there????
I have had this with some other files (usually larger).... they appear to transfer across without problem, but once I disconnect the HD2's data lead and search through the storage card - nothing there!
I have a HD2, running WM 6.5 on thre latest Vodafone rom, and using an unbranded 32gb sd card.
Any help... VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!!
I suggest you make a complete back up copy of all the contents of your SD card. hben reformat your SD card using the Fat 32 option. Also I suggest you take your SD card out of your HD2 and put it into a SD card reader and use it to reformat your SD card. All you have to do is find the SD card on your computer by going to My Coputer, it will be listed as a mass storage device or a removable drive. Right click it and select format and use option Fat 32.

First, I would try the re-formatting as discussed in the last post. However, did you try transferring via ActiveSync (assuming you were using the USB drive option)? There are two ways to transfer files on the HD2.
Are those files, by any chance, set to hidden?
If your sd card is an unbranded 32GB one bought from ebay it's most probably a fake...This behaviour is exactly what happens if the fake sd card is 2 or 4GB fooling you to think that it's 32GB one. Any file you transfer that exeeds the real storage capacity of the fake sd card will be lost.

That makes sense.... it was from ebay, and would account for the corruptions and problems which have occured since I swapped it for my 8gb.
I wonder if I have any recourse through eBay?
I've went back to my old 8gb card and everything working fine now.... duff card - confirmed....!

i am using the stock rom 2.3.5 gingerbread.plz help me out.
no help from any 1
i figured out the problem.but again a little confused.my sd caed doesnt seem to work properly.how to check and fix the sd card?
I think corrupted or "lost" files go in that folder. Did you unmount the card on the PC before switching from disk storage to charge only on android?
Sent from my Sensation using XDA
I think You may try to use formating tool from this site www.sdcard.org It usually helps with bigger SD cards.
Worth to try I think.
Connect your phone to your computer in mass storage mode, or preferably use a card reader and copy all your data from SD card to a backup folder. Format your SD card to FAT32 with 32kB cluster size. You can use the normal right click>format option in Windows/Linux/Mac. Uncheck Quick Format (in Windows) and let it do a full format. It'll take around 20-30 minutes for a 16GB card. This will fix any filesystem errors that are causing data loss. Once that's done, copy back all your data as it is back to the SD card. Now your card should work fine for a long time. SD cards tend to get corrupted over time, especially with Android, so doing this once in a while is helpful, whenever your card gives you any problem. I have had this same problem a few times and this fixed it for me.
I have data corruption on sd too but it happens often to data of any type/size and I believe that the corrupted data are moved to LOST.DIR They have no extension and cannot be opened or recognized. So I'm losing apps, photos, videos, anything. My device is an LG P500 and the sd card is a Transcend 4gb class 6.
What cluster size do you recommend for a 4 gb sd? 4kb is the default for its size and I believe that 32kb is too much for such a small card.
Hey guys, i have owned my SGS i9300 for about a month and recently bought the 64GB MicroSDXC card, it was all great until I threw on all my music onto it, now when I throw in the same folders into itunes, it gives me 1400 songs, but when I put the same folders onto the memory card, I only get 13xx songs, now I know it's not a big deal, but it's still frustrating. Now i located one of the songs and copied it to the phone's memory, and it worked ... so i really don't know what to do :|
It's to do with the exfat system that the card is formatted with. If you can reformat the card as fat32 (preferably in another android device) and copy your files back it should work. Currently in the process of doing it myself.
There's a post about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1698672
Hey guys and gals, i just got my new i9300 unlocked phone running android 4.0.4. Loving it so far, upgrading from the i9100. The first problem i had however was the USB cable it came with, it seemed it was a bit faulty cause it kept disconnecting the phone, tried other cables and they all work fine so i tossed the original cable out and all is well in that regard, the only issue i have right now with the i9300 is transferring music files (over 5 gigs) from my windows 7 64bit laptop to the 16gig micro sd card on the phone. i have tried every method to copy my music over including removing the micro sd card and using the card reader on my laptop to copy the files and also rooting my phone just so i can install the easy ums app, but each and every time the card is mounted in the phone again, half of the songs end up in the LOST.DIR folder with some numbers as the file name and an unrecognized file type. I am in the process right now of trying to copy the music to the internal memory of the phone to see if this is the same issue thinking maybe the sd card is currupt somehow everytime it is mounted back to the phone. Does anyone else have any idea on this issue?
UPDATE: Just finished copying all the music to the Music folder on the internal memory on the i9300, all files are there, and they play fine, I am thinking the sd card is the problem, so i am going to try and buy a new sd card tomorrow to see if i have the same issue.

A standard problem with multiple posts .

oh trust me, i have googled and searched this and other forums EXTENSIVELY before posting here, i havent seen anything exactly to what i am having, and the issues that are slightly similar to what i am having were solved when they formatted their sd cards to FAT32, which i have already done.
A standard problem with multiple posts from the first month of SGS3 on XDA .
Trust me i have actually read them even answered one today/yesterday .
That was to put the music on the internal card until you can find a solution .

k, well thought i'd post an update for anyone having the same issue, i got a new sd card, a class 4 kingston with 16gb (the one that came with the phone seemed to be a generic one) and copied the files over, the drag and drop way, and all seems to be well for now.
Same issue with music files disappearing
I have had the same problem. I cannot find a pattern or cause. I am on my second class 4 32 GB SD card formatted as Fat32. I have yet to find a reasonable explanation or solution to apply. The card can be read in the phone and from a computer. But some how some music files randomly end up in the Lost directory
The ext SD was a key reason for me switching to this phone. I may be back to my iPod for music listening
Thank you for any help

sorry i didnt format, y delete from delete option in the celphone... i haven't got an adapter to check if its in fat32. Can it be donde from cel?
EDIT: i tranfer few files and work ok, but when i transfer more files some says error:cant reproduce. Maybe a transfer problem? its another way to quickly transfer music witout cable?
EDIT2: No a specifi transfer problem since the same files work fine in internal storage
You can do this using TWRP recovery if you dare to install it. There is an option to reformat to whatever you need.
As for just checking, I believe there may be an app to tell you what format your SD card is in.
You can always just buy an adaptor for your SD card for under $10.

i think is a sd problem. I transfer a folder with 15 songs and work ok in play music the first time and latear the folder disappear
Yeah, try reformatting the SD with FAT32 on a PC or Mac and see if it fixes it or not.
format in fat32 and ntfs. No one work correct, some transfer files dissapear and audio files only work for or two reproductions, I'm going to try with different card. Its very extrange because the apps i move to sd work fine, but pictures or audio doesnt
