Hi Guys,
I installed the latest FoxHound 2.2 ROM on my Galaxy SIII and its fantastic. I'm loving it so far.
Before installating the FoxHound I was running OMEGA ROM and wasnt too happy about the customizations it allowed however it worked fine with Kies. I know you guys must be thinking why in the world I'm using Kies .. well mostly because Ive only owned the phone for a month and I havent read enough about the alternatives. But ever since FoxHound installation Kies doesnt seem to connect. Im using the latest version of Kies v2.5. I assumed this version supports custom ROMs. If you experts out there can let me know what i'm doing wrong Id really appreciate. I'm using the Siyah kernel by the way.

Gave up on Kies and stuck to Titanium.
Not even sure why Samsung cant work on a better client for a top of the range phone.
because it's supposed to be very simple and intuitive and not include too many features hard to understand

DO NOT USE SAMSUNG KIES!!!!!
ROOT the phone and flash a custom ROM from the Development section. Read the "Vibrant Bible" first and google things such as "how to root samsung vibrant" and "How to flash a rom samsung vibrant". Its not difficult and its your best option IMO.
Good luck!
^ If you want a more stock 2.2 experience then go and check out Whitehawkx's Stock Froyo ROM found here.
hey thanks for the reply. my phone is already rooted but not flashed now the main issue is wich custom rom should i search for? once my phone is flashed how would i b able t update my phone to gingerbread????
there is no Official Gingerbread update from Samsung, goto the development sub forum and choose a 2.3 rom that works for you. personally i recommend CM7/Miui but if you want Touchwiz then go with something like simple honey.
The best gingerbread based custom rom (in my opinion) is miui. Although it's no where near stock gingerbread in means of the UI, it's an amazing and truly custom ROM.
Look in my signature for my guide on flashing this ROM with ease. Best of luck and pm me if you need any help.

Can any phone running android 2.2 be updated to 2.3? Or is it just a specific list of phones. The phone in question here, is a Samsung Galaxy Q. It's running stock 2.2. I would like to update it but there don't seem to be too many instructions on the internet.
Any ideas...?
I think Samsung didn't make an OTA for your phone so there could be the possibility that they dropped your phone... . Nevertheless if you root it, you can put 2.3 on it manually by flashing a rom. (but this depends if there is one available of course)

Can we upgrade micromax A35 to its os 4.0.1 ICS
if there is any solution to upgrade this
Unfortunately, Samsung did not upgrade our phones to 2.3. They dropped support altogether. I owned this phone and there is no way to upgrade it since it isn't a common or high-end phone. However on the bright side, you can root your phone and even unlock it (I did this). Depending on where you live, you probably bought it unlocked .
There is a thread here that discusses this phone. At most you may be able to flash a version of the same ROM without carrier apps if you're in the USA. Other that that, there really isn't anything for this phone. I might be able to search up the links for rooting and that XDA thread if you're still interested.
Good luck!
OK Ive scoured the development forum in the vibrant section, and I don't see any mention of anyone who has installed successfully the Liquid Smooth Rom on a T-959 Vibrant!! All Ive seen is it seems that it can only be installed on a S-3 or S-2 models!! Which sucks!! I'm currently running Paranoid Android and CM 10.0 on both vibrant,s I own, and the both roms are 4.1.2 versions of JB
So again I'm wondering if anyone has successfully installed without problems, my main and only REAL CONCERN is if it will write a different or incorrect primary and secondary boot loader and cause a true hard brick situation. I want to try it so badly but I don't see any mention of a S-1 T-959 successful install.
So anybody got a success and what liquid Smooth Rom and version did you use and what if any special attention to install instructions do you have!
It hasn't been built/ported to this device. If you tried to flash a build from another device it would almost positively brick your vibe.

AND BTW UNFORTUNATELY THIS ENDED UP BEING A RE POST BY MISTAKE SO IF ANY MODERATOR WOULD REMOVE THIS ONE FROM DISCUSSIONS ID BE GRATEFUL MANY APOLOGIES :[
I got it for you.
Moving to Q&A and closing, so that the other thread can progress.
Hello everyone,
Sorry if this is the wrong area, but it felt right at first look. I have a International Galaxy S3, rooted, but still didn`t change the ROM... Since o rooted it to use some apps, I've noticed i couldn't install new updates anymore, so I started looking out for a new ROM.
I got interested in Omega ROM, like this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720628
My software is still 4.1.2, can I install a 4.2.2 version of Omega, do I need to take some step before?? Besides, is it stable, since it`s not out yet for galaxy s3?? If I install, can I go back to 4.1.2 smoothly??
I'm asking that because I had a Galaxy S1 and had to install a bootloader before changing the room version. Now I'm a little confused...
Thanks for your help

As long as you have an I9300/T you can install any rom, just make sure you do a nandroid before and some wipes as instructed in the thread. The instructions on how to flash e.g. Omega will be in the thread for sure. In addition you have to make sure, at the moment at least, to have the right kernel (e.g. Siyah will not work with the newer 4.2.1/4.2.2 roms).
read the basics first
first of all I apologize if I posted this on a wrong sleection or whatever...
I have a Samsung Galaxy Grand i9080L and i resently found that my phone had an update but when i connected to kies it appeared to be none, nor via OTA. so i Downloaded it from Sammobile and flashed the rom using ODIN.
Now the problem is that when i updated to 4.2 my phone started to run really slow and i did a hard reset and deactivated some applications that didnt work properly but the phone still lags, less but does compared to when i had 4.1.
I dont want to go back to 4.1 because when i do i cant use any game because of a graphic problem that its now solved with 4.2 and some other bugs.
I've been trying to find a custom rom for my GT i9080L but i cannot find any.
Do you guys think i can use a Rom for the DUOS version (i9082) and install it with odin?
Any idea?
please help im kinda desperate because of the lack of suppor for this phone.
I realize that these are for the i9082L dual sim model : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-grand-duos/development
But there have been people in various forums reporting the CM or AOSP type roms run on their i9080l fine since the dual sim support for non Samsung roms are tricky to get working right anyway (example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50659404&postcount=1123 , http://www.madboxpc.com/foro/topic/186437-guia-actualizar-galaxy-i9080l-de-422-custom-a-442-mod/ ). I'd be wary of trying any Samsung based 9082 roms because I have seen people saying that'll brick it (though probably just fixable via Odin).
