Hello Guys,
Has anyone come across a really cool educational android app, preferably something that will give my mind a workout?
I’ve been playing this awesome math game:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.epicapps.mathfun
Rock solid in my book, can’t do better than this.
Cool! Downloading now, expect feedback soon!

hi all...
i'm looking for someone to build a clone of the word-game boggle. I'd like to work with a developer to create this app. I' am happy to fund this project and work out any arrangement which would be in the developers best interest.
in the iphone it is called wurddle (http://semisecretsoftware.com/wurdle/), it is probably the best boggle clone out currently. there are several apps out for winmo (Wordly, Scramble, etc) but they are all rubbish; actually, Wordly is very good except that the developer didnt pay attention to several important factors( the algorithim for letter distribution is not thought out, so you can never make any real words due to the consonant-vowel distribution).
i am an avid word game enthusiast and would like to build this to proper specs (most updated dictionary, various dictionary options, 5x5 and 4x4 optionality, proper letter algorithim, i could go on....)
please note i am not looking to steal anyones work nor am i requesting warez. i would like to build this from the ground up and incur whatever costs are necessary to do so.
i am not super rich but i can afford to fund this to a degree, perhaps fully. mostly because it is killing me that the iphone has this app and my awesome hd2 has junk. i've attached a few pictures of wurdle, wordly, and actual boggle to give you an idea of what im looking for.
let's create something great!
thanks all,
jason

Hmm...This seems like a rather interesting project. I could take this on! I'm not the best dev out there, but this would def. serve as a great learning block for me, and I could definitely get it done. I just need the ideas and how you want it to look/work, and I can do the rest
PM me or email me at [email protected]

i love this site. love it.
Yes, like the idea of the program, You need a dictionairy for every language you create it in.
This will be one of the best game with a very good learning effect for mom and da for her childs . And for the game freaks under us ...
I can help you with the development if needed but actually I would like a program like this:
- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Countdown_(game_show)
Does it already exist too?
i would play this game all day, looking forward to it.

@the0ne:
that's a good sample, but there is no trail version. So it is not the solution to see how it works or do some tests before pay. I think in this case we must find out the wheel a second time .

actually that game sucks. i bought it, like many others. they all suck. there is at least one inherintly wrong thing in every single one of these boggle clones that make it nauseating for me to play. it has the right idea but clearly no developer understands how to create a great, realistic boggle app; which is why i have decided to step in and do this myself.
that game show thing looks pretty cool actually.

Yes, it does.
Could you make a little storyboard what functions, actions, options this program should have. I'm interested in the development but don't know for sure what should be in or out.
Hello,
I would like to learn how to develop Android Apps. But it seems like there's not so many schools offering such course.I tried to search and found out about Viope Online Android course. I wonder if anyone of you has tried that out. I didn't see any review on that course. So, if you have any idea/comment, please share with me. Thanks!!

Have you ever done any programming before?
From what I understand...if you know java you can pretty much code android apps...
So take a class in java (I'm taking one next semester) and see where that leads you, from there take classes in other encodings that may also be requires...but for the most part its a lot of java

I would reccommed you to read several books about android programming. There are plenty of books available, e.g. books on O'Reilly website. Take easy ones, such as "Introducing .." or "Beginning ..", not something like "Cookbook"
Some of the books include quick overview of java. Of course you must know the basics of programming
But if you insist on cources, I'd recommend Stanford Computer Science (easy to find in Itunes)
Advice from my experience: do as many practice as you can, don't stuck in reading and learning. This will motivate you to move forward!

Check out thenewboston's guides on youtube. I'd highly suggest watching their java videos first. The android series is 200 parts, and its really good. I'm on the 117th.
Check out these tutorials for android apps.
Vogella-Android App tutorial
Marakana Tech TV(tutorials)
Google Dev Training
I'm teaching myself how to write apps, and custom ROM's and I had absoloutely no programming experience beforehand. I've been self teaching myself for about 7-8 weeks now. I've got a fairly good understanding of .XML files now and find them easy to make and edit. I've got a basic understanding of Java, and can write and understand some code. (I still need a lot more practice with it though)
Just stay dedicated and you can learn if you really want to. I'm proof!
Thread might be a little old, but thought I'd post this for future searchers, since it will be a good response to the question. I've started a project to create a full training course on writing Android apps, geared toward complete beginners (whether they have prior programming experience or not). It's currently only in the planning stages, but I'll post updates on the thread I started HERE on xda-developers as the project progresses.
Hey, all.
I have created a blog to keep track of my progress on building Android 2.2 for the Nook Simple Touch.
Although you may or may not be interested in this specific device, I could use your insights from experience with other devices!
Thanks in advance for the info here and in the university. I am sure it will be very helpful.
just picked one up myself, if you are really going to build something i will be happy to test.

Looking at the charts and design images at your blog, I am willing to chip in and help you with hackeries too. Quite newbie in Android scene but can find my way out. Please update us as soon as you came up with something.

Hello,
I'm not entirely sure if this is possible. If you have a rooted gear 2 with Android wear, if someone could create an app that emulates the wearable for Pokemon Go. I currently don't have the wearable, but was curious if someone that did get the chance to get one could figure this out. I've looked around on Google and searched here quite a bit, but maybe I'm not looking for the right thing.
Thank you!
HI Tricil:
I thought of the same concept which led me to this thread.
I think that Developers out there could link up our wearables with the pokemon GO easily.....(Learning android development currently) and i am sure some are even working on it .
Keep patience and hope!!!

I don't know if this sounds weird, but it would be nice if the app also were compatible with smartphones too. So I could use it in one my old devices without using my main device battery :3
Hi, I'm really new to android developing, i want to make a very simple app, you open it and you get the other people using the app position, in a range of 50 meters from you. Maybe everyone could update a picture of himself that will be displayed where he is, so like a marker to indicate his position. Then if you click on one of this marker/photos you can see some details that the user put in when he registered. Is it possible for a newbie to do it? I think I obviously will need a server and help. Can you please tell me what sould i do, how much will I spend, etc, and like a to-do list?
thanks in advance.

Student of android dev here!
What your asking for is pretty complex. If you dont have much experience coding or creating apps, i would suggest practicing by making other smaller apps and then building up to then.
You can also hire somebody else to do it, how much it would be would depend of their skill and exactly what features you want on it.

Ok, but is it possible to create an app like that with the right amount of skill? Will I, after plenty of tutorials be able to do it?
Anything is possible. Practice makes perfect! Or near perfect
