Headphone Squeal - HTC Rezound

Does anyone have a rez WITHOUT the headphone/aux jack squeal? I have it and it's extremely annoying.

I have never noticed a squeal on my rezound when using headphones.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app

You don't hear any popping, or a noise of any kind when you use the aux port but don't have audio playing?

Never had any squealing or popping, and I've had 4 different Rezounds.
Edit: unless you're taking about the staticy or hissing sound that you get with no sound coming out, that's been that way on every Android phone I've ever had.

Just spoke to vzw, they're sending me a replacement. On a side note, I've spoken to vzw regarding replacements a billion times (ranging from eris, to fascinate, to inc 2, eris, centro, etc.) and this was the single coolest rep I've spoken to

Get over it. Every Rezound does it.

I don't usually plug in my headphones and listen to nothing, so I've never heard the squealing or hissing of android silence.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app

I only get it when using it as an aux out. To me, it sounds like the ground floats when it's not outputting audio, so anything powered gets it while anything unpowered wouldn't be effected.

rezound replacement number 2 had this. sent it back and havent had this problem yet.

3 different Rezounds and they all have it, it's annoying when I'm listening to music at work where the volume is very low. At low volumes it does diminish the audio fidelity. I also here it if on a call using the wired headset.

Headphone Jack issues

Hey everyone just wanted to know if anyone else is having issues with their headphone Jack on the Vibrant? I plug in my headphones but I always have to fiddle with it to get them to work. I have tried multiple headphones to see if this was the problem yet every one I tried the same issue came up.

LMAO same thing happened to me when I first got it
My problem is a little different. I have skull candy headphones with a MIC and sometimes the music will turn on by itself and I'll have to turn it off via the button on the MIC. This happens quite often when it is loud around me or windy(while I am driving). Anyone have a clue why this happens?

Speaker crackling

Anyone notice speaker crackling when playing music or ringtones when running eternity rom? Have tried 2 different kernels bcblend and anthrax kernel and seems to be the same!
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Sounds like a blown speaker. The only time I hear speaker crackle is when I'm on a phone call.

And if you have TEP then sprint will replace it for free.
I have best buys insurance, i was hoping maybe it was releated to the eternity tom that has infected beats
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
I tried the stock kernel, still same thing, i didnt try switching roms but i heard that there is an issue how beats is tied into our roms and thats whata causing the crackling can anyone confirm?
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
If you are talking about playing music through the headphone jack, I can kinda confirm that the crackling disappears when not using a beats rom. I used Eternity and experienced the crackling. Switched to Olympus beatless and the crackling disappeared.
If you are talking with the external speaker, sounds like that is blown and will need to be replaced.
Its the external speaker.... Damnit here we go
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Actually I was having that problem but noticed it only when the screen turned off. I switched Roms since but check to see of that's the case. Turn the screen on with no time out and see if it doesn't crackle. If so, its the ROM. If not, still could be. Haha
Sent from my beasted EVO 3D using xda premium
Have you tried with anything that doesnt require beats? maybe youtube or a movie? If no crackle there, then its the rom.
This weekend i believe im gonna nandroid and install a stock rom and see what happens, i hope its not the speaker, if it is guess ill see if best buy will fix it

Yep, happened to me, it came and went at first and then stayed there all the time. Took the phone to verizon and they replaced it.
That's the beats by dre working its magic. People that listen to hip hop don't hear the hissing and other noises because their eardrums are blown out from all the years of listening to crappy music. My phone does the same thing though. The whole beats thing is a real turn off from the HTC brand and I hope they do away with it.
It's a common problem as far as I can tell. Funny that I stumbled across this thread because the beats things was bothering me today. Can we please stop giving money to rappers and their overpriced bs products.

Mine only does this when playing music in the car using the stereo Jack and charging at the same time. Alternator noise.
I've heard about the charging in cars causing problems. Supposedly if you try different chargers or just remove the charger it'll work just fine.
Seems like it only happens with the screen on for me. I can live with it a long as it does not get worse

It's gotten worse for me. I've tried different headphones and it only appears to be the "left" side. Even with the screen turned off it still has the same sound. I also tried turning all the radios off and it does not change. I'll downgrade back to stock Gingerbread (currently running one of the ICS leaks) and if the problem is still there then it's time to take it to VZW. At least it should be covered under warranty,
Happens to me too. But if I wiggle the cord it will go away. At least for now. No telling if that trick will continue to work in the future, but it works for me now.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
I have this issue. I've contacted HTC twice already. The most recently last week. Same response, "we have an update coming soon, that will solve the issue" . For those of us running the latest radio/ICS know that their update isn't going to solve the problem. This issue is annoying me more and more lately, it's getting bad. I'm hesitant to return my phone for a warranty just cause I don't want a refurbished, I paid a lot of money for this phone... So, I have to deal with this? I haven't tried deleting beats with root explorer. Maybe I'll try that next.

Speaker squeal?

I haven't seen a thread like this but its really annoying. When I plug my phone into certain speakers and the data arrows come on, a loud squealing noise come from the speakers. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem?

It's feedback from the 4G radios interfering with the amp I believe. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong though.

try connecting to wifi if you can. It is interfering with the speaker.
I know my gaming headset crackels whenever I get a text message without it being connected to the headset, it is just interfering with the speakers

Its actually not headphones. I use the beats that came with my Rezound. Its only with speakers it seems like
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
Sounds like it only seems to happen on low impedance speakers/inputs. You might just need to stick with headphones or use some kind of external pre-amp. This is somewhat disappointing news, although I don't listen to music from my phone much.
Noticed crackling and static when on 4G streams of Pandora. Happens with headphones or hooked up to a mixer and speakers (higher impedance). Doesn't happen with the WiFi enabled for streaming, so I'm going to say Argumentation's explanation seems spot on... Just thinking out loud here, but would there be a way to slow down to 3G speeds for streaming? Sounds counter-intuitive as far as speed is concerned, but if it's the 4G that's causing interference, then maybe that will take care of it?

Wtf how can this speaker pop if it has an amplifier for the speaker. I am so mad I hope Verizon fixes it I only had this phone for 2 months

Yeah but the difference is the DNA has better internal audio hardware and if it gets pushed far enough it will.
I would go through HTC, if they warranty repair it they can fix the device and send it back instead of replacing it.

Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda premium
I don't even use the speaker I use headphones and usually keep my phone on silent or vibrate. If you can deal with not having a speaker it's probably better than sending it for repair they are probably going to replace it and if you are rooted and s off unlocked right now you will lose everything and need to jtag your replacement.

The speakers matter. Keep those amp and throw ****ty speakers on it. Raise volume. Speakers blown.
So in the instance of blowing speakers, they are correct, the amp isn't what is keeping it from being blown.
An amp is an AMPLIFIER. It amplifies sound. It isn't protecting speakers from being blown, if anything, it is helping the cause.

Yes and no, an underpowered amp will blow a speaker faster then an overpowered amp will on the same speaker, it clips and starts sending voltage and burning the coil. So in a way an amp does help prevent speakers from blowing, but only to a certain point, then they can also still overpower the speaker.
If that's what happened to the phone, I don't know, but saying an amp will prevent it is inaccurate, but so is saying an amp will cause it, it's all in what the amp and speaker combination is capable of.

But the amp was made for the speaker therefore it was just a faulty device

The 2.04 OTA screwed up my sound control. I didn't have sound issues before the update, but after...horrible. The sound profiles for headphones and normal (no headphones/headset) would change volume settings at random and would reset to a default full volume every time I unplugged my headphones. Then while headphones were in the volume would jump to full either randomly or when the first notification came across even with the settings for ringer and notifications were all the way down to be silent. The only thing I have the volume turned up on normally is the alarm. I prefer vibrate over sounds. Less than a week after the 2.04 update, my speaker started to crackle. Within a month it was dead. I could get a few seconds of sound out if by squeezing the sides of the phone. Just got my replacement yesterday and it has been good so far (on 2.04).
Both of these phones were completely stock. I have my old HTC One S for playing around with root, but if unlock is figured out for the 2.04/2.06 phones I will be rooting to avoid the chance of this happening again.
