Soft brick help - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

So I was at work and i just rooted my newly acquired note 2. I was having a huge delay when unlocking the screen, so I took some co workers advice, and installed GooManager, installed TWRP, but now my device says something about some software not authorized by Verizon? How do I fix this? Return to stock? But how to i get to download mode?

Hold down the volume down and home buttons while powering on. The stock Odin file is in the android dev section imnuts posted it. And if you would have looked around you would have seen that you need to unlock your boot loader which Adam Outlet (sp?) posted in the android dev section as well.

No rooting is just Odin of a pre rooted image. Which is clearly what he did. You're thinking of unlocking.

follow directions! use the ALTERNATE RESTORE FILE only!! you can not use the full restore coming from the L4 ota. read the last few pages of my guide for a further explanation.

Because you didn't download the alternate restore like I said

Oh yeah I know I used the one click method to root when I first got my N2 I didn't unlock my boot loader till recently. I was referring to trying to install TWRP. The only method I've seen so far is to unlock the boot loader and install TWRP at the same time using Adam's method

And we wonder why people end up with issues.
This is why not everyone should be allowed to root. If you cannot follow a direction that simple...I can't imagine what you'll do with harder to follow directions.

Yes. Think if it as 2 levels of a hack. (I'm no pro so thus is a very generic description). With root you can do many more things than an unrooted phone (I rooted just to load all the apps in the multi window drawer). However, with an unlocked bootloader you can do even more (custom roms, overclock, nandroid.....which is a TOTAL backup of your phone, that can restore it to it's wxact state of when you nandroid it). I am rooted but did not unlock my bootloader (yet).
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
You can definitely make a nandroid with a locked bootloader, my dude.

Lol.....like I said, I'm (obviously) no pro. This is my first samsung. Is there an app or toolbox or something I can get? Or do i have to mess with odin (I'm still not even clear as to what odin is). I used the app to inject root and when I try to boot in to recovery it warns about customs roms so I just cancel it. Can I do that and proceed without screwing uo my phone?

Don't mess with odin unless whatever instructions you're reading call for it. Flash roms with a custom recovery.

Too late. I tried to backup in CWM and got that awful screen telling me i had unauthorized software and to head to verizon (and i haven't installed the OTA). Had to restore to stock and then reroot. I thought i had a grasp of this but i guess not.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
The main feature to unlocking the Bootloader is to have a custom kernel. Which handles the way the CPU works, which in turn with a custom kernel improve performance, and battery life.
I was under the impression you had to be rooted to unlock the bootloader but I guess not now
Be patient. No need to hurry. Read up until you have more confidence and context. Sounds like you are learning fast though.

Yes you definitely have to unlock your bootloader before you put anything else on there or else you might risk bricking your phone.
And yes casual is the only method I'm aware of..... so just look to the original android development forums and there will be a topic on how to do it

[ROOT METHOD][KERNEL][ODIN][TAR]SCH-I545 MD2 Kernel (For Rooting)

DISCLAIMER:
Your device, your responsibility. I am not liable for anything you flash, including this.
As a result you'll probably want to read the rest of the thread and at least be aware of what you're flashing.
You've been warned.
Credits:
Thanks to the following for making this possible:
Anonymous sources for MD2 kernel
DJRBliss for Motochopper root exploit
Chainfire for SuperSU
jcase for setting the record straight on kernel root block (learn something new every day!)
And you, the community! Otherwise we wouldn't be here! Thank you!
Background:
The MDK kernel contains features that disable the su binary by default.
There are ways to bypass this once rooted but attempts to use Motochopper failed.
So we needed another way to get root.
...Enter the MD2 Kernel. At the moment one of the easiest doors into allowing Motochopper.
Download Links for MD2 Kernel TAR: http://www.sxtpdevelopers.com/showthread.php?t=256
There are two mirrors posted on that thread.
Steps are pretty simple:
1) Enter Odin Mode - Hold Vol Down + Power from power off. (ADB reboot download also works with USB debugging on)
2) Flash MD2 kernel
3) Go to the Motochopper thread and follow the steps in OP.
Congratulations! You are now rooted.
Follow-Up/Notes:
1) You will want to go back to MDK kernel after rooted to avoid kernel/ROM mismatch and potential issues due to it. A few weeks ago this may have been an issue due to the root block but jcase has informed me that is corrected as of the latest SuperSU. So please update to latest SuperSU and flash back the MDK kernel. You can find a link to that here.
2) Warnings will now come up once rooted. You can suppress these by freezing SEAndroid.apk
Questions/Concerns/Etc.
Please post here if there are any questions, concerns, comments, etc. We're still human and can certainly make mistakes - I'll be happy to correct them if any are brought to light.
Enjoy!

If you need to reflash stock via Odin before you take it in. That's the only way I know at the moment to get around it.
NM I had to unroot and reflash the kernel. Afterwards just flash the kernel to root them update the binaries (missed that step) and flashed the normal kernel. Problem solved.

Restore to return to verizon

Okay guys, so here is the deal. My now is having some issues that may or may not require a return, and I would like to completely return to sick, just in case. I used casual to unlock and root, but how would I relock? I have not been able to find a guide anywhere. Also, how does triangle away work? flashing through recovery does not replace recovery which will cause the ota update to fail. If you want to go back to factory stock. simply odin vramc3 in odin and be done.

[Q] Re-Locking DNA for Warranty/Sale

OK, some background and disclaimers.
I searched as best as I could and read the FAQ and couldn't find anything that would help me--the relocker thread from 26 Nov 2012 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2017525) looked useful but too dated. So no flames please!
I bought this phone off a Verizon store manager in early June, who didn't mention that he had rooted it (or failed to return it to bone stock via re-locking it). Recently, it's been losing bluetooth connection to my car, losing the SIM Card connection, and failing to accept the OTA update (which is a daily, obnoxious occurrence). I checked with a VZW employee today and my phone is still under warranty, so I plan to send it in for replacement due to the former two problems.
Problem 1: Transferring a phone between accounts voids the warranty. Solved, as I won't say anything, and am mysteriously still under warranty.
Problem 2: Unlocking/rooting a phone voids the warranty. However, if I can manage to re-lock the phone, then all should be good.
I'm obviously a casual user and have zero idea how to re-lock the phone or even check if it's still rooted. Yes, I am a newbie.
What should I do?
Whenever I try to run the OTA, I am booted into ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.3.1.
Other relevant stuff:
Android 4.1.1
Software: 2.06.605.1 710RD
Please let me know what else you need to know.
Thank you!

Ok. I'm doing my best to do it on my own without asking dumb questions, but the post I found (yours, actually-- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293919) says it's for Facepalm/JTAG/RevOne/Moonshine, which I assume are OSes. But my understanding isn't that my phone is flashed or rooted, just that it's unlocked and I have to get rid of the bootloader, which is the Clockwork Recovery mod.
I just tried this http://www.androidcentral.com/is-my-phone-rooted with ConnectBot and don't appear to be rooted.
