I bought a few days ago a new S3 and for some days all was ok but now , my camera doesn't work properly. In 8 , 3 and 0.3 megapixels when I want to take a shoot the screen and the picture have a lot of pink dots , black lines and bad colors. I had uk SEMB1 flashed with mobile odin pro. I tried to factory reset but no results. Then I flashed XELAA with wipe cache and dalvik cache and still no results.
Can I change only the camera firmware? Could it be a hardware problem? I don t have warranty on this phone.

I updated the camera firmware and now it seems to work. I will wait some time and test the camera and hope the problem has gone.
LE: finally it was a hardware problem. Some contacts weren't in best shape. They where fited and now all is ok, camera is working.
I have the same problem. What exactly did you do?
I was to a gsm service and for 15 bucks they repaired it in 10 minutes.

I just purchased my S III. And I am very worried looking at the camera results. All my pictures look very distorted. I enabled the grid as well to align object and with the grid I clearly see that it is impossible to align objects. See my images. please tell me is the camera so bad, do I need to run and exchange my phone?

Yeah I never get that distortion on mine, but try a factory reset or reflash the firmware first.

I just bought it hours ago... will a factory reset have any effect? I did not mess around with it...
I tried to do Update Software but it tells me it cannot connect to servers... My build number says: IMM76D.I9300XXALF2 -- is that old?

black rings really annoy me. Sorry for this big resolution, I'm writing this from my phone!
I can't be sure, but I think it's to do with dust getting inside the camera lens. I'm pretty sure it's nothing to do with the software. Maybe hit it? xD I have no idea, maybe next time upload an image to a host and link it.

Ive broken the touch...every 1cm line the touch works, everything else is dead... The speaker is dead. A really good investment
1 problem...when I start the camera the phone crashes...

I cant install another rom because the setups need touch input except the one installed...reinstalled the one but still the same.

It was the roms fault lol and the connection to the top unit (speaker sensor notification led) was not good...
The phone is now fully silver/white...ill make pics if interested

So last night I went out with some friends, had a few (read: like 20) drinks and don't really remember much (read: anything). I'm not sure what happened to my phone but when I try and use either camera now everything is totally grey. There's zero physical damage to my phone (that I can see). Both cameras seem totally fine from inspection of the device. So I'm thinking this must be some kind of software issue? It would seem strange that both cameras would break at once.

back camera:
One other thing is there are 3 pictures on the phone from last night, two of them totally back and the third grey (looks exactly like when I take a picture now of total blackness). So I can deduce the problem started between 12:50am and 12:51am lol.
Anyone ever had this happen before? I haven't found anything on google. Anyone know of anyway to fix or troubleshoot it? I should also mention I'm on CyanFox 2.0.2-20140216-NIGHTLY (I haven't updated in a while whoops).

Same for me as well. It's just a blank screen! I hope Sony fixes this asap
don't think it is actually SONYs fault. That was not working on pixels also so would rather blame google.
But the one in camera works just fine and it is actually faster to use, just a long press of the shutter button.
Though, it works on my samsung tablet but I think that one is some samsung implementation because it looks completely different and no Powered by Google at the bottom
