I just made boot animation for our LG L9. http://i.imgur.com/arSJe3e.gif
Here you can download it. http://www59.zippyshare.com/v/3718146/file.html
I was installing it though ROM Toolbox LITE app.
Boot animations -> local -> part0.zip -> details -> install After you will see install complete it will work on next boot.

lol.. yea it would be cool. But unless u can format the video to one which the phone understands. It probably wouldn't even boot past the splash screen. So no, i don't think u can just use a u tube video.
Check the desire z/g2 forum themes and apps section there's a good tut on it and very easy. I can't wait till the game gets released next week either

do you have the link that you found useful??
OK, everyone talks about bootanimations but is it also possible to edit the power off animation?
(I have also a great idea for that! The crt screen off animation from gingerbread, but then as shut down animation!
Like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqeq01tpQek&feature=youtube_gdata_player. But then more gingerbread like... )
I don't think so, or maybe but you would have to edit a .qmg file or something. Which we can't edit cause we dont have the right software.

Hey all! You will like this one. I made a old computer style boot animation, which not only looks like the old-PC BIOS boot, but It has the correct info about the Galaxy Tab 10.1, so it looks very real. Additionaly, it also has a Windows 8 style animation after the first one ends. currently, the way you install this is to copy it to /system/media with root explorer (replacing any potential current one). Here is a link! https://www.dropbox.com/s/rsagq9d47z11a4e/bootanimation.zip
P.S. Screenshots are uploaded below,

I could not get this to work......
I tried what you said to do, as well as renaming the file to match the original, but it when I boot, it will show the 1st Samsung screen only.
The sound from the second stock animation still plays, but the video is gone.
Nothing from the new boot animation shows up.
Thanks,
Jake

As the avatar rom released for the motorola atrix hasn't got the right size,
I've taken one matching for our device from the htc one s AvatarRom, I hope this will interest somebody ^^
AvatarRom thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2140902 (Best CM10 rom IMHO)
Boot animation in the post attachments
edit: I've realised that there are only two versions of the avatar rom, the WVGA and the HD one, that's why i've resized the HD one (from the galaxy nexus rom)
edit2: The bootanimation doesn't work on AvatarRom, only shows a black screen during booting but works fine after
Good work! :good:
But I thnik most people prefer orijinal moto boot animation

yes, it did work.
if you have problems with it, I suggest that you wait a bit for the avatar-team update. It will be implemented in the next fix.

Great then.
Ok, having a small bootanimation is annoying (even if it's only 20 secondes during the boot ^^ )
I literally just installed the Avatar Rom yesterday. I think I'll add this now
Gonna try it,will report back.
So I'm surprised I haven't been able to find an app that already does this, besides some launchers having few options, it would be cool to have an app able to change the system transition animations with multiple animations to choose, most likely it will need root but cmon most people in these forums already have root! Hope some cool devs see this post and start working on it, cheers!

It works. It does what it should but most of the options for transitions are greyed out.
Only a few are selectable. I'd love to try and see them all but can't.
Any clue why?
