Does anyone have a working Sony Conversations.apk (incl. dependencies) for Jellybean ROMS? Resized and everything if possible.
Thank you

is a bit more difficult than just changing the size and include dependencies, the application has signature level protection

That's a shame, I kind of liked the original 2.1 conversations app ( a lot more than the default android one anyway ), and i figured it couldn't have gotten any worse over time
I got use to the ics sms app, better than the old one from the 2.1 in fact. Why don't you use handcent or some app like that one so ? You could have the same kind of look and feel

I don't like having to type in numbers/names in order to choose who I want to send a message to. In the original, when you tap the address-box you get a list of contacts to choose from, which is easier with our limited screensize.
From the three main 3rd party apps (Handcent, GoSms and Chomp) I liked Chomp the best, but they're hard work to get looking and feeling half decent, but they also come with a lot of bloat that i just don't need.
The Xperia Conversations and Miui Messaging apps are by far the best ones i've seen so far.
I played with Achotjan's SEMC Debrand Engine for a while yesterday, it felt like coming home, lol. Unfortunately, for a GB-based ROM, it feels a lot laggier and slower than even the new JB Roms, so I can't live with it for too long.
If I could just have that conversation app (and maybe the calendar too) on my MiniCM10 I would be completely happy.
I have ics with the original sms app and I don't have to type numbers, just the first letters then i've the list with names beginning with the letters i've typed at first :-/

If you have more than two contacts with similar starting names, you have to put away the keyboard so you can see the list properly, select the contact, call up the keyboard again to type other recipients, etc... I don't want that. Just give me a list of contacts so i can choose them with a swype and a tap. If you've tried the sony conversations app you will know how much easier it is to use.

Hey,
The stock messaging app sucks on this, why does it show messages so wierdly? Like all my messages are at the bottom while all the recieved message are at the top?
It should be one after the other, as in CM7 messaging app that I used on my previous phone.
Someone know how to fix this? or get better messaging app like the cm7?
Check the timestamp of the messages! It might be possible that the app thinks that the messages you've been sent are from the past due to a mis-matching time zone/time setting!
I use go sms pro.
Free from market.

Go to time and date settings untick automatic update then choose your timezone ie: +8 or -4. That will fix your problem.

I used to use Handcent quite some time ago but found out that it was causing some problems with people receiving my messages and pictures. In addition, it started hanging and would generally slow down. Lastly I was told that it does not necessarily play nice with some other applications, namely LightFlow.
When I eventually put Eclipse on my DX2, I simply did not re-download Handcent and was just using the stock SMS until today, using CM7 and still, the stock SMS.
What does everyone else use, are there any decent alternatives to the stock SMS and if so, what makes it a better alternative?
All I've ever used is handcent, seems to be working nice for me, never used liteflow though.

I'm a huge fan of chompSMS. I've tried Handcent and GoSMS, but I always end up coming back to chomp. The only thing I wish they would add is the ability to multi-select message threads to delete, instead of having to do it one by one or deleting them all at once. I emailed them and suggested that and they responded that it was planned for an upcoming update, so maybe I'll get my wish.
I use GOsms. Works great for me.

I have used Metro Messaging Beta for a while. It was when I was going through my WP7 phase. lol. I actually liked it though. It didnt have any cool features (it was actually very limited) but with how simple it was, it was nice to use. I have recently just gone back to the stock sms app though. I also use SMS Popup so when I get a message, I dont even have to open the sms app.
I too, use GOsms. I like the customization and different themes it offers.
Just make sure to manually go into stock notifications and disable. Other wise you will get multi notifications at some point. It will ask you at setup to disable, but for some reason you will still have to manual disable through stock app.
You could always give it a go!

I like the customization of Handcent better, can change a lot of things for individual contacts in handcent.
I just delete the SMS/mms apk in every ROM and put handcent in system/app

Ciao!
GoSMS here BUT the MMS sending on it is whack. I have it set up for 1.2 MB and preserve image resolution yet when I send a pic it'll degrade the picture image. This is for pics under 1.2MBs...
Any one use a different phone/call app besides the stock one?

GO SMS is what I use, I like how it pops up a window without you having to swipe notifications, and the overall customizability of it. As Elite49 said, you cant go over 1.2mb in size but it just let it shrink my photos to fit and it works just fine. Be sure to get all the plug in for it too, there are tons of themes and emotocons etc...

Does yours degrade the pics when their not over 1.2MB? I find it extremely annoying seeing a pic thats under that somehow look like crap when I go to send it.
Another vote for GO SMS here!

So I have gone through go SMS. Handcent. chomp. The original messaging app. I like messanger 7. But I couldn't figure out how to send pics. I know u can get a theme to make go SMS pro look like it but. It's not as good. Is there something I could look at that could help me out? Thanks

The apps you listed are pretty much the most known and most used SMS apps. You might just be stuck with those. You can try an app called Pansi SMS. It's supposed to be very fast and light. But unfortunately that's about it in terms of SMS.
I tried most of the SMS apps available and settled on GO SMS. It has a ton tweaks and settings you can play with to make it your liking.
i see...................
,,,,,,,,,,,,,, go sms or iphone styled sms or messenger app sms or xms pro use one of these ................... if u r not comfortable with it try differnt launcher like 360 or adw they have in built sms app or exlauncher /go launcher

Hello,
How can one make a custom keyboard that could be choosen as input method (aka Samsung Keyboard, Swype, Sixaxis)?
Is there any way to just load up a custom image, and then inside the app just configure that this area of the screen is for example A button, Space button etc?

I've settled on Handcent for now, but I've been wondering what some of you guys are using. I've tried a couple others, but Handcent just seems fluid and is constantly updated and supported. Lots of themes and tools to utilize, if that's your thing.
Also, in addition to what SMS app you're using, is there an SMS app that will allow "reply to all" natively? I get group texts from iPhone users and when I reply it only goes to the person that sent the message to me.

I've been using Handcent since I moved to Android(always had dumb phones before)roughly three years ago. I like the set up,customizations and how smooth it operates. I also like that the app has strong support, although I'm sure that they all do.

Since I started with Swiftkey for a keyboard app, I NEVER could go back to stock on any phone (or tablet) - It ruined me for anything less!
And there are some stock SMS apps I like and have used. In fact I like the one on the OG and I seriously considered sticking with it, but I switched to Handscent for purely vanity reasons. I like to put a "signature" on my texts and the stock SMS won't let me do that. I do use the stock e-mail app, however!
+1 for SMS Popup. Also the Cyanogenmod version of the stock keyboard since it has a dark theme. Haven't tried it on the LGOG yet because I haven't gotten mine, but I imagine it will work.
Well, since the stock app has a reply to all feature, I'm just running that now. Handcent had some cool stuff, but all these group texts are killing me.
I can't believe Handcent doesn't have reply to all at this point.

I've used Swiftkey and Hancent before and I've always switched back to Stock.
Well, I used them on my Inspire 4g. But I ran other ROMs so I guess the keyboards were never exactly "stock"...
Meh! I can do without. The LGOG's stock is nice, for my preference anyway.

And you're 100% positive that handcent is not Chinese or otherwise related to anything Asian? I don't see anywhere on their site stating that they're local, or European. And what proof do you have that they steal your info and sells them?
I don't find go SMS a resource hog at all actually so I don't know about that either.

Many third party SMS app comes with added features that aren't available on stock apps. For me, go SMS pro has two features that I don't see in other SMS apps yet, unless they're addons, and those are inter grated lock screen for the app itself and a private chest to store all your texts that u don't want ppl to see. It has screen popup notifications too so uh don't have to constantly access your SMS app to read or reply texts but I think handcent has the same feature.

I like Handcent for some of the features to customize and privacy aspects. Different backgrounds to choose from and privacy inbox to off load or keep texts in through their storage.
The stock is okay, but unless I've missed something it's fairly limited and bland as far as options.

I always used the stock SMS app, never felt comfortable with anything else. I like the simplicity. Swiftkey keyboard plus the stock app= perfect minimalistic experience.
I use the stock sms and then either Swype or Swiftkey flow.
Sent from my UNLOCKED LG-E970 using xda premium
I'd live to use the stock app if only it has security integration. Just cuz the phone is locked doesn't mean ppl can't get into your phone and then read the text messages. Its an added layer of security.
Another advantage of go SMS pro (not sure if handcent has a similar feature) is that if u never delete your text messages and have literally thousands n thousands of text messages within a single contact, go SMS truncates the chain of conversations to the latest ones n if u scroll up, u can click show more messages to view older ones. This speeds up loading time when going into a conversation. Whereas in the stock app, it can take sometimes 5 or more seconds of delay since its trying to load all the old texts.
For example, my conversation with my gf has never been deleted lately, resulting in nearly 10,000 texts between the both of us. When I open our conversation in go SMS pro, it works fine. But using the stock app can take nearly 10-15 seconds n it sometimes even crash and freeze. So yeah, it can make a difference.
