[Q] galaxy s3 E210S - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Galaxy S3 E210S, updated to Android 4.1.2 through Kies with build number JZ054k.E210SKSJMB7. Like all other i am facing the 80 characters per sms limit, Plus lot of korean apps which are of no use. My question is this that if i root the phone, will i be able to increase the character limit??? will the phone work smoothly after rooting??? and will i get rid of korean apps??? One more thing, after being updated on 4.1.2, the S Voice app is not working, it always keep saying that "Network Error, Please try again later".
As am new to android, i do not know much about android and rooting.

160 chars for GSM 7-bit alphabet. Cyrillic alphabet (Korean, Japanese) uses Unicode, so you can't increase limit.

160 characters

Hello,
I bought Evo 3D today from France. I live in Greece so, when I compose a message it only shows me 72 characters. How can I enable full 160 characters in greek keyboard? The device comes with preinstalled greek keyboard.
Thanks in advance
160 isn't an international standard? That's messed up.
Its probably because of special charters (may be diacrics). I'am from czech republic and have same problem. If I use only charters a-Z message length is 160, but if I use diacritics (i.e. číáščř) message length is reduced to 70 because of different message encoding (explanation from my operator).
Well they need to fix that. I don't know why it would be an issue to have it 160 capable with those types of characters.

Well, most phones simply remove diakricics from message and sends it normally. But on my HTC I didnt see this option. Its very frustrating when you imagine that for 160 charter long message you must pay as for 3 sms.
In czech republic is solution easy... dont use diacritics But It may be problem with greek charter set.
Yes and the strange thing is that when i used to have custom rom on my hd2 i could choose greek language in the menu too. It also had 7-bit encoding in messages so I could write in greek withought 70 character limitation.

[Q] Is There a Way to Get Rid of Accented/Foreign Characters?

Hey everyone,
So I'm on stock, rooted Android 4.3 on my Verizon Note II. I'm having an issue with the Samsung keyboard - when I try to use a special character (!, @, #, etc.) I often accidentally choose the accented/foreign one instead. This happens a lot and it's very annoying.
I noticed these steps somebody posted for the Note 3, but it looks like it will remove the special and accented characters.
Is there a way to just remove the accented ones?
Thanks!

How to change encoding in messages?

Basically what the title says, I want to change the encoding, because I am bored of being limited to 70 characters per sms(since I am using a language other than English)
Back in my galaxy s3 I would just change the encoding and problem solved, but in my z2 I cant even find the setting for that...
Any ideas?

As I couldn't find this option in stock messaging app I started using textra. Give it a try.

For this u should need a modded Conversation apk. And u need root also. If u are rooted means i can help you mate..
Or flash another firmware variant, that have cost saving option already included - for example CE1.
Nevermimd, I should have googled earlier...
I used an xposed mod and It does just what I wanted.
It enables the cost saving option in messaging app...
The module Is called jackos Xperia conversations tweaks.

Samsung Galaxy Alpha Korean Version (G850L) convert to International Version

Hi Everyone! I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Alpha from an online phone seller. I didn't know that the Galaxy Alpha has different variants and the one I got was the Korean Version which is the SM-G850L. There are some Korean apps installed on the device and the dial pad has some Korean characters. There's also a SMS limit of 160 characters on the stock messaging app where it converts the message into MMS once it exceed the limit. My question is, is there a way to convert my Galaxy Alpha Korean version to International version? I want to get rid of those Korean stuff loaded on the phone. Please help me with this! Thank you in advance!

There is a ελληνικά language option in Language Settings on the SM-G9650 Snapdragon. The set language will be displayed in all apps preinstalled on the phone, even keyboards. Text on Greek apps or websites shouldn't be an issue since you can chose almost any language in your web browser. Not sure about emergency calls however my SM-G9650 does allow 3 digit calls.
thanks man... and a last one can i install apps that require root access or its only aveliable on exynos variants???

Either variant should allow root access but be careful, once certain apps gain root access you've surrendered critical security abilities and the app may be accessing more than you realized.
