Hello,
I need help....I've updated my Galaxy S II via Samsung Kies and recieved the latest stock 4.1.2 for UAE region, after the update my RTL arabic encoding became messed up, the characters do not link together anymore! it used to be fine before the update.
for this phone I've never flashed an aftermarket ROM, just stock updates via Kies.
I've tried wiping keyboard data, wiping cache, but it seems the issue is in the ROM not the keyboard, as i can see and activate arabic, but the characters are not connected together thus i can not read properly.
assistance is much appreciated.

Try Swiftkey
Will do, but it should be working though, all other stock samsung phones and tablets have arabic encoding and this one does too, except it doesnt join the letters together, very weird....any other suggestion?
Sent from my GT-N8000 using xda app-developers app
dont know about the uae update, which you would expect to work properly, but the other updates from sammobile (flashed through odin) work fine with arabic. letters are joined etc.
so far, ive flashed the russian and spainish 4.1.2 updates, and both included arabic keyboard and system languages.

Thanks, I will flash using Odin over the Kies version that I have, Hopefully that will fix it.
The UAE version should be working as well, I have other samsung phones and they dont have that problem. i agree with you, I had a UK version and it supported arabic perfectly too. Thanks

Hey all.
First of all let me say that i am new to root/custom rom so what i might type may sound stupid to many of you.
I Rooted my S2 and installed Lite'ning Rom. I didnt really like it cause i am kinda use to Τouch Wiz by now (what do you know) so i tryed to restore the original rom.
Problem is i can't. I Unroot the phone and the flash the stock rom from the site. I now have KIES telling me "this version of device cannot be updated" and current firmware being ΚΕ2 (ΚΟR) and i was KE7 before. I downloaded another firmware from here the europe KE7 but i still get the same message.
So my question is. Since i am obviously doing something stupidly wrong, does anyone know the firmware for the greek version of Galaxy s2? I am kinda stuck between 2 choices. An updattable phone without my native language on keyboard or a non up datable phone with language!!!
Thank you in advance
You didn't need to Un-root to install Stock firmware. You can follow this link, it has all the Stock firmwares.

Thank you for quick reply friend. I found a greek one (Cosmote OXF XWKE2) but while everything else is ok i have a problem. There is no greek language in keyboard. I added greek language and when i swich to greek it turns to english UK. Even when i put the entire ui to greek (i have it to english) the problem still remains. Any thoughs?

I don't think it does, I'm not seeing it listed in the language option on my device.
If its the stock android 2.3, it should support it. I had it on 2.1 and because in Canada where I live, 2.3 is still not out so I'm using WB custom ROM and even though the latest ones (4.0.4 and v5) don't come with Arabic text supported as is, there are downloads for that package which makes it work
I just upgraded to v5 as well and reflashed the font&language zip file and my Arabic is back.
Hi folks,
A friend of mine bought a S2 GT-9100G, and founds that it lacks of Spanish language in its system. For him, it would be great to have it in Spanish. Is there any way to install the Spanish in it somehow?
what rom does he have?

Regular stock rom with gingerbread.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
In case this gets to be of anyone's interest, I found out that by updating the system (using regular KIES software) it will download the latest version of the stock ROM.
This will cause the device to download all languages (and if you live in a Spanish speaking country, it will bring the language in that update).
I hope it helps anyone in the future.
Hello, lovly xda-Members and Supporters,
I'll start so my mother and I use the same smartphone - Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100 ...
When she came back home from work and she told me that there is an update for this, I was blown away,
I was looking through the manual setting on the phone for an update, but it said: No update available ...
So, all well and good, then I tried to update via Samsung Kies, Samsung Kies now says to me: Software update via Samsung Kies is not supported by your device ...
I Did something really silly the other day as i flashed a rom to my Galaxy S2 i9100 and i stupidly forgot to back up my stock firmware.
Is there a possibility to get my old firmware again?
I live in Germany.
& I'd love to have this update on my phone.
Each answer is helpful and I thank you once in advance!

You most definitely can return to stock, but if you didn't back up whatever data you had before flashing the new ROM, then they're gone (assuming you wiped before flashing). You'll find all the firmwares you want here:
http://www.sammobile.com/
I'm assuming that you had ICS before flashing the custom ROM, because you said you didn't receive an update, so you can most definitely do that OR, you can manually flash the update you didn't receive yet, which is 4.1.2 JB Anyway, all firmwares are there
Viel Glück

it was for 4.1.2 JB ? my phone is actually 4.0.4, it was allways 4.0.4, so it isn't for my phone anyway ? where can i find stock everything for my phone ? on Sammobile it shows me Taiwan 4.1.2 ...
PS ; Your German ?
In case you still need ICS, Then I'd suggest you google for that. Just search for samsung galaxy S2 4.0.4 firmware. you should find it. It's also helpful if you add your service providor (O2, T-Mobile or any other) just to make sure the phone will work with that network. It's just safer that way
I don't know if we're allowed to post links to outside sources here, but it's enough to say that many German android forums have what you want you just need to search really well
Not German, but I live in Germany :silly:

im so confused, found nothing ... heeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp
I bought Gear fit off ebay and it happens to be international edition. The entire system is in Japanese.
I have a OnePlus one and Nexus 5. When I tried installing Openfit, the geat fit pairs and connects but it is still in Japanese.
I tried updating the software by booting the device into download mode and flashing it with the newest firmware from samsung-updates.com but the system is still in Japanese!
When I try pairing the device to a "Samsung" device then it works just fine, it tends to adopt the language of the phone. But I don't have a Samsung device for me to use.
How can I completely erase the Japanese firmware on it and flash it with a clean US version? Is there a way to install a custom firmware or anything like that?
Thank you for your help
Any luck yet?
I'm in the same boat as you, just wondering if you've made any discoveries yet?
Couldn't find any solution. The only possible way is to pair it with a Samsung:/

There has to be a way to flash it directly, how else did Samsung get the firmware on? The firmware should be on their opensource release center.

Im in the same boat. Mine is German. link to Samsung uk Note 4 and changes to English.
