hi everyone
been having some trouble trying to work this out for myself but admitting defeat temporarily. I've tried to search this forum and online in general to try and find answers myself, but seemed to find conflicting answers and anything I've tried doesnt work. I'm not too sure what links I can post in here but basically theres a weight watchers online calculator thats flash based that I would like to access on my phone.
I've tried to install flash. I downloaded version 11.1.111.43 which should have been compatible with android 2.x versions (mine is 2.2.1) but when I've checked on the adobe site to see if flash is now working I cant see the test video.
I'm not too sure what else to try to be honest as I'm still fairly new to the world of smart phones. I thought I could download mozilla to see if i could access the online calculator this way but google play informed me that my device isnt compatible with the version......so I've hit a brick wall! any help would be appreciated

Hi guys
Sorry but i am a noob to all this so have proberly stupid questions.
After flashing to a customer rom i went back to a stock t-mobile rom. Problem i now face is when i try to download apps from other companies that are not on the app store eg mfortune they are unable to detect the type of phone i am using so i get "sorry we do not currently support your device" despite being able to do so before rooting and flashing. Is there a way i can change this with the release of skyGo on android this month i want to be able to download it. As it will be only on the galaxy s2 and HTC phones for some time i dont really want to wait.
Any help please???
Did you do a full whipe? Adding some details like model number, the rom you flashed and the one you came from may get you some more useful results.
As for the skyGo app, it won't take more than a day for it to pop up as an APK somewhere on the net.
Hello
Thanks for the reply i am currently in work so i cant look at my phone but will update on which firmware and kernal version i am running
I did however follow this guide to root reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-phones/how-to-root-your-samsung-galaxy-s2-50004972/[/url]
Not sure if that helps i did not however use the guide to flash the secure kernal maybe thats where i have gone wrong.
I will update the thread with the info later.
Thanks again
Hi, I live in China and recently bought a Galaxy S3 (China Unicom version). What I didnt expect is that none of the google apps or even Google play come pre-loaded. Itried installing them individually, but after intallation it doesnt open and just goes back to the homescreen. I am just not able to open any google related app even after idownload and install APK files. i ahve VPN and can access allsites, VPN won't solve the problem.
I went through some other posts and saw suggestions around rooting and installing custom roms. can someone give me some specifics please, maybe some links? THis is not about blocked access to google play, i just cant install it and get it working on my phone. I can't return it to the store (since theres no prob with it) and I don't even care about the warrantly anymore. I just want to ensure that if i root it and install something, it be the right one that doesnt clash with the version i have and doesnt brick my phone. Partiuclars below. could someone please please help?
I am desperate now! Samsung china apps are the worst!

Hi there from China..go to the stickies from this section..you will get all the information you require about rooting..then go to android development section and there you will get most of the roms you will need..now read the OP very carefully before flashing..all the instruction will be there in the op..most of the stock based roms have gapps included..for aosp/aokp Roms also flash the gapps package..

Yeah, they kinda suck ... except for their camera software ... It kind of rocks.
You will need to root and Rom your phone. There will be advice on how to root in the stickies as mentioned. I did it as a noob and found the task nerve-racking but in the end quite fun. I also cheated a bit and practiced on cracked open an old HTC desire and popped its cherry with Cynogen nightly. Anyway, once you root then you will be able to back up, although I don't know if there is any point to backing up instruction as your phone kinda sucks at the moment and I imagine you probably can't even get a back up app onto your phone.
This whole deal could take up a day of research and downloading and messing around. Be prepared to be without your phone for a day and to put in some time and effort - even if you are a genius, you'll have difficulty. Also, despite people saying doing it with a mac is easy - I found the opposite to be true and I use my mac waaaaaaaaaaay more than my pc. Set aside a Sat or Sunday to get lost in the world of Android. Hopefullly, it will only take you a short time, but just in case... Anyway, it is worth it.
I am using Omega ROM - you can find it in this forum somewhere. I love it - it has Google play App. I initially tried others but I found I missed the samsung camera software functionality too much.
I still need my foreign sim card for some apps and a vpn is useful too. but there is no way that I know of easily getting around the Chinese limitations... Unless you can read simplified Chinese well enough to use the Chinese versions of Google Play that must be plentiful.
Lastly, If you are a complete techno spaz. Scrap what I said, and just find a black market and get it rooted there. I don't know what it costs, but it should be cheap.
Good luck.

Oh and make sure your phone is compatible with the rom and directions ... mine was a GT-i9300 there are other models and apparently it makes a big difference. It should tell you in settings/about device/model number.
sup everybody I just got my first ever droid today and much to my delight its the international version of the Samsung Galaxy SIII.
now heres the issue. its the GT-9308 version...so my question is :
if I root my phone is there anyway to change the rom[??] from this chinese mobile one [supposedly unlocked] that is lacking google play and is still partially in mandarin [which ya boy can't even slightly comprehend] to the GT-i9300 one?
the attachment is a screenshot of the about device section.
I know this is probably impossible but if it is possible I'm not screwed and there is still hope lol. a preemptive thanks to anyone who can shed some light
The China Mobile version ???

ahhh thank you i searched for a similar thread but i guess it didnt show up cuz it says asian in the title instead of china
not trying to bump that other thread but the only thing that really tells me is that I'm probably SOL.
so my NEW question is. any possible way I could go about implementing the modem driver from the GT-i9308 into the GT-i9300 rom so I get the google play and full english capabilities without the bloatware in addition to the phone still working?
I'll take that as a no then?

You can root your phone just do not change the modem otherwise your phone will not work. There are several chinese forums (use chrome to translate) that have very easy instructions for rooting which will allow google play to be installed.
Same boat
I am in China and found myself in the same boat..... i hosed my system after mucking about with it ... first android phone ... i am presently putting together all the links and things i did to get mine de china mobilized and google working .. rooted and a custom ROM or two that work... i have a newer hardware version then most people ... most have hardware version 5.0 ... i have 6.0 .... first attempt at rooting was fine... after that i added a rom... backed up and used the same modem firmware .... phone would not get past the start up screen... but thank god i could still put into recovery mode and get back to the firmware screen.. so i knew it could be saved... so i went through the Chinese forums ... no one had the latest hardware version ... but a release of the "official samsung rom" was the reason my phone was the way it was .... so i found another "Official" rom .... as it turned out it put my phone back into a working order ... the other thing is i am using OSX .... i had to muck about with different version of various pieces of software to get it all done... like i said i am throwing together all the links and everything i did to get mine going ... many of these links will require some authentication to Chinese sites .. weibo qq etc ...
I will try to re share the software i have downloaded ..but i am not maintaining them so not sure how good an idea this is...but the links will help the other "whites" as the chinese describe us foreigners in their forums "so easy a white can do it" after translation....
I just wanted to thank those on XDA with their posts ..... they did help, with information that got me going in the right direction.... this is my first Android since a Telus Fascinate .. which i gave to one of my programers/friends on my architecture team to root... other then that a iphone user ... hard to really brick one of these phones if you do the common sense back ups and such...
Once again thank you... i will have a full break down of my adventure in a day or two.... back to my work.
Cheers
some instructions feel free to contact me i will try and help
I have a i9308 and any of the newer release of the "official firmware' messed up my start up and made it loop...
I installed this using Heimdall skipped the bootloader as it seems to fail in both odin and Heimdall on hardware build 6.00
I found the newest official rom bbs dot anzhi dot com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=6344702 ... sorry not enough posts to send out side links ... i under stand.
everything else worked fine.... after this and i was able to back and do the usual install of CWM ..... which failed using Heimdall ... again on the bootloader .... so using Odin it worked ... i used virtual box and Windows 7 ... with the latest Samsung drivers ....i had to create a specific interface for the Samsung in virtual box so the i9308 would mount with out conflict in windows .... i was then able to install CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4 ...
Once rooted i started looking for a way to install google play and all the google services.
i installed this ROM anzhi_karben_samsung_i9308_V1.0 which had the google drivers i needed and was not full of to much other crap and worked well in english ... i found this here bbs dot anzhi dot com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=6198323 i used my Wiebo account to do this and was then able to download.
I got the google pack ..... well one that worked and after i checked everything did not have any malicious scripts that i could find ... bbs dot anzhi dot com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=5401203 ... the zip file was gapps-ics-20120429-signed-4.0.4
i hope this helps some people Heimdall took a little after i figured out how to do this.... it was easy ... i have wiped it out a few times i nthe last week and tried different ROMs from the various Chinese boards ...some made very odd requests for SU access here and there ...i generally removed them after trying to find the offending script .... as i said so far the ones i am using have been pretty safe with little to no issues. I did go in and remove a lot of the preloaded China Mobile wares ...so far the phone is great ... i do fid the wifi signal sucks....
My first android i rooted myself ...see what happens after a drunk night in a taxi in Beijing and you lose your iPhone.... having fun.
S2 GT-I9308 Unlock
Hello
Someone gave me an I9308
I'm trying to use it with my French Sim Card. So i need to be able to unlock it.
I've been able to root and install custom firmware as described above.
I've tried to use GalaxySim Unlock application, but it says "Device not recognized"
I've tried to use the "trick" to unlock, but , the current firmware official version on the I9308 is 4.0.4, and with this version, "Network Unlock" is not working.
In order to try the trich with proper version :
I've tried to install 4.1.1 version for I9300, but it fails with modem
I've tried to install 4.1.1 version with modem.img from 4.0.4, it works but the phone is no more booting, it locks at "samsung" logo and vibrate one time pause one seconds, vibrates three times pause one seconds and again.
So two questions :
How to install a newer versions of android when no offcial version have yet been released ?
How to unlock the I9308 with 4.0.4 in it ?
Thanks.
It is the modem drivers that are the problem. China Mobile has not released a official upgrade yet. But I left instructions for rooting in my previous post.

old post late reply, i know but nvm that, anyway if anyone is still interested in this, here i have the right solution. recently i have been collecting some old Samsung phones, i managed to get hold of a Chinese 9308, as u know, all i9300 roms/twrp work on 9308, but can't detect SIM card/mobile network, however i found one version of the MIUI6 roms, so far so good, everything appear to work perfectly, has all languages, Google play services & framework most importantly, 3G works fine too. i will shortly provide links to the downloads.
Would you like please send the link for this MIUI ?

the problem is, i still have to upload them somewhere 1st, as one of the original links is no longer working and although the other one still is (there were two of them), but it was on baidu cloud, both, u need a baidu account to be able to dl stuff, i clearly remember i couldnt download them myself, and i wasnt able to create a baidu account either, but luckily i found someone who could & did download them for me and sent those files to me afterwards, so now we have to work out a way 4 me 2 send those files from my PC to other users out there.
Hi
I want to install a custom rom on my android tr-42 v2 and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction for a safe working rom. I want one thats custom made for xbmc if possible, because when I tried installing the app, many features didnt work including my remote.
I did find a couple at another site, but after installing I found that my ethernet does not work anymore, so I am unable to connect and my wifi is too slow to watch without it being choppy. A friend pointed me to your website and said this was the place for anything android, so I am hoping someone here could help..
I did try search this website but each search returned 0 results..
Can someone please point me in the right direction..
Thanks
Sam..
I recently purchased a Voyo i8 Plus from FastTech, assuming (yes I know) that it would have Google Play available in its Android 7.0 build. It doesn't.
In my attempts to rectify the matter, I have explored the following options:
Downloading another ROM from the manufacturer's website
Downloading Google Play Services from APKMirror
Installing LineageOS
Unfortunately, I can't figure out what to do next, as am quite the n00b at this sort of thing (I have attempted - and failed - to mod Kindle Fires in the past with Google Play, which is likely much easier than what I'm attempting here, should it be useful to categorise my level of inexpertise).
The ROM I downloaded is a zipfile full of stuff; what do I do with it?
There are like 24 versions of Google Play services; which do I use?
There doesn't seem to be a build of LineageOS for the i8
I've hunted around on the intertubes a bit and have found numerous things that come close to what I want, but don't seem to ultimately be useful (either that or I'm missing something - refer to my description of my skills earlier), including an interesting thread right here on XDA which suggests the i8 might also be known as the Q101?
Can anyone help a noob? I'm close to binning the thing at this point.
Phants,
I have recently managed to flash the ROM with the Play Store from the official Voyo website. I'm a novice when it comes to Android ROM flashing, but managed to work out the proceedure (some bits are a little unclear and needed some guesswork), so to save people the trouble I went thought I'm making a video guide that I'll upload to YouTube, I will post the link here when I have it uploaded.
I can't post external links yet so bear with me, I'm new to the forums.
Phants go to Youtube, then the link to the guide is here:

Voyo i8 Plus Firmware update
Hi,
somebody has posted a great YouTube video and collected the downloads into a single place.
I've following the video and my i8 Plus is now all updated with Google Play etc. It's transformed the tablet from a fairly useless slab (who wants a tablet that can't install other software?) to a really great device.
All kudos to the cptwhite who produced the video, I can't post external links so go to YouTube and search for "Voyo i8 plus - How to install Google Play Store fix"

Hi,
Has anybody managed to root this device? Or just port a custom recovery (e.g. TWRP) on it?
I tried many different ways (carliv kitchen, etc.) to make it but failed upon it. Perhaps there is someone how was able to do it?
Please help!

Although over the year has passed since I asked the question above nothing has changed in this matter = I couldn't find the way to root this device.
Well, is there perhaps someone else who was able to do this?
