So thanks to some of the fine folks here, I have successfully flashed SnowJB onto my device, and am enjoying the beauty of Jelly Bean. But I have a few questions:
1. To install QSlide, would I follow the same process (boot into recovery mode, select the QSlide zip in install mode)?
2. Is it safe to remove the SnowJB zip file from the internal storage now that I have flashed it?
Thanks in advance!

1. Yes
2. Yes, but I wouldn't recommend it. If something happens and you can't boot up having a ROM still on your sd card is always good.
Yes, and yes. I would still recommend making a backup before flashing qslide. Always better to play it safe.

Thank you both very much
Also, for Google Now, is the update safe to do? I read (although I don't remember if it is with SnowJB) that it isn't safe. Is it not safe, or...?
Oh! And my city is getting LTE pretty soon. Will SnowJB work with LTE? And do I need to Factory Reset when install The QSlide Function? I would imagine not, but better safe than sorry.

CWM allows users to easily install unsigned update packages. This will open up the Photon to pseudo-ROMs, all sorts of modifications, and more.
Forgive my ignorance but what is a "pseudo-Rom"?

Psuedo meaning "not really" a ROM. A locked bootloader will prevent true custom ROMs, but P-ROMs will be possible.
P-ROMs are based off of stock files and modifications. They don't replace the kernel or modem.
Yup i installed this and rebooted into recovery mode. It worked just fine for me. What happens if Sprint releases an OTA update? Can i recover root access or downgrade with this? Sounds like I can't because I can't modify the kernel.

Make sure your device is plugged into the wall charger when you do Reboot Recovery. That's the only way it'll work since it's a bootstrap recovery.

Can you explain why this is? I'm a little confused as to what makes a "bootstrap recovery" different from a regularly flashed "recovery.img".

Caveats:
This is not a *real* recovery. The way this recovery works is by hijacking portions of your boot process during system initialization and starting into recovery instead. So, if you hose your system *COMPLETELY* you will need to SBF. Specifically, if your logwrapper, logwrapper.bin, or hijack binary are missing from /system/bin, you will be screwed.
This is from koush himself concerning droid x/2 bootstrap. I would seriously wait til an sbf surfaces before flashing any of these "psuedo-ROMS" or even just deleting any system apk's. Just my opinion.

Is this "ClockworkMod" recovery, or something else? If it's CWM, what version?
So what specifically did this do to my phone? What files were modified to allow this to run at bootup? Anybody have any info on this (just in case I want to return my phone to stock.)

This is CWM bootstrap. Original one was on the Droid X, created by Koushik Dutta. Then it was ported to the Defy. Then to the Atrix. Next, the Droid X2. Now, the Photon 4G.

You have stock recovery, you need to Flash a custom one like clockworkmod to be able to take nandroid backups and flash roms.
If you are on cwm, then just choose the install zip from sd card option and browse for your zip..

if you boot your device into recovery mode (power + volume up), does it say CWM recovery 5.x.x.x?
if it does, then you have a custom kernel.
if not, flash a custom kernel. use rj's kernel if you have a physical home button or entropy's kernel if you have a capacitative home button.
If you really want to see a drastic difference difference, try cm 10 or ParanoidAndroid.

To flash any of these roms, just copy the appropriate zip to your internal storage and reboot into recovery.
Then:
1. Wipe Data/Factory reset
2. Wipe Cache
3. Advanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache
4. Install zip > from internal sd card
5. wait and enjoy.
Also, i would highly recommend you check out http://xda-university.com

Why are SMARTphones soo... Freaking Dumb?
I know they may seem like some dumb questions, but coming from the Galaxy Nexus, somethings have been somewhat different on the S4.
I rooted my MDK VZW S4 using this method by open1your1eyes0:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290798
I can not find this answer to this...I know I'm rooted, but is the bootloader also unlocked?
On the Nexus I had a second step after rooting that was necessary to unlock the bootloader. I don't see any additinal steps for the bootloader anywhere on the forum. I know ME7 does not have a bootloader unlock option, but I'm on MDK.
Next question...
I later flashed the official version of ClockworkMOD Tocuh Recovery which I've been told has the LOKI mod.
At this point can I flash a ROM exactly like I did on my NEXUS through the custom recovery?
I'm looking to flash:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2384362
And my last question regarding back ups and Nandroids...
On my Nexus, my internal storage automatically was partitioned, so doing full wipes before flashing a new ROM never touched my nandroids, titanium backups, photos, etc...
Is this the same on the Galaxy S4 now, or should I be backing everything up to the extSDcard?
Thanks in advance. I really appreciate your help.
Your bootloader is not technically unlocked. Instead it has been bypassed through the "Loki" exploit. This makes no difference whatsoever to you as a user, though. You can flash new ROMs to your heart's content.
With regards to a wipe, when you wipe the system, cache, etc. through your recovery program it will only wipe the folders necessary to erase the OS, kernel, etc. Your downloaded data will be left intact as long as you don't put it in a directory that's used to store OS files.

You Cannot unlock the bootloader. There is a workaround called loki that will allow you to install a Lokied recovery. Once you have custom recovery, which it seems you have done, installed then you can flash roms. Just be careful with your wipes to know for sure what you are wiping and be sure to make Nandroid backups to your external sdcard. You can then store a copy on your PC. I do all backups to external sdcard as internal space is limited.

The exploit is in getting your custom recovery to run at all. If you can boot into CWM, Loki has already done its job.

My question is regaridng my home screen.
I know custom launchers like NOVA allow you back up your home screen layouts and settings.
Is there anyway to back up your home screen layouts off of the stock launcher, or in this case the stock TouchWiz home screen layouts?

If you have artas182x cwm operating, just install my cwm backup

Hello everyone, tonight I attempted to install Cyanogenmod 10.2 onto my phone, and now I have a bit of a problem. When I made my nandroid backup, I think it went onto my internal storage, and was deleted when I did a factory reset. I wasn't really aware of this, and had to go into recovery and set up the phone multiple times (the rom didn't ever seem to take), and now when I power up my phone, I get the stock recovery mode, with it saying "Could not do normal boot" and "ODIN MODE" on the next line. Is there anything I can do to salvage my poor phone? I realize that I screwed up majorly with the nandroid backup, but hopefully there's something that can be done.
Thanks for your help, regardless of the outcome.
