I am hoping there are some people here who know about what brands/sites are good ones or trustworthy.
Ok, picking up my Evo 3D on Friday..... and surprise surprise, the phone isn't even out yet, yet there are a million different places with brands nobody has ever heard of with supposed cases for this phone, some of them even having dimensions smaller than the phone itself despite being listed as for the 3D.... (Yes I know, no need to tell me many manufacturers will take existing stock and claim it works for the new device just to sell it).
So the thing is, I have no idea what cases might be designed specifically for the HTC Evo 3D, or even any respectable sites to buy such cases from.
But I am also sorta over-complicating the issue by not being sure if I should first over a back cover for the phone or not. See, I am not a fan of the way the camerapod sticks out, I was wondering if there were any GOOD cases that add enough bulk to essentially make the cameras level with the rest of the phone, even if this will add thickness.
Something like this, but I don't know if this really is an official HTC product or not, and if there aren't better ones (or if that is a trustworthy site):
http://www.mobilecityonline.com/wireless/store/productdetail.asp?productid=28040
And this brings me to my main concern. The main case I want to get is a belt-clip holster, not just a simple little clip that attaches the phone to your belt but basically a whole pouch to hold it, something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Black-Horizontal-Leather-Magnetic-Closing/dp/B0051IGCAI
But on top of the problem I already mentioned of there being a million cases just simply calling themselves a HTC Evo 3D case... there is also the issue of how it will fit. Normally, I don't care if a case is a little too big for a phone since it will hold it anyway, but all of my previous phones didn't have sensitive parts like the camera sticking out so much before, if I were to get a case, id want one designed to hold the pushed-out camera in place too.... but that would only work if I decide not to get a case that ads bulk for the purpose of keeping the cameras flush with the back of the phone.... and if I do decide to go with a back-cover to add bulk, will those pouch-cases then even still hold the phone or will it then be too thick?
Sigh... I'm over-complicating things aren't I? So anyway, any ideas? Its a shame those back-covers that increase the size of the phone can't make use of that size, such as storing a slightly higher capacity battery or something.
That first one's badass. I wonder how much coverage you get on the front. I ordered two slide together ones (like the innocase surface, but a clone), and one super-silicone one. I like buying a bunch of different colored cases to shake things up every now and then.

This is the silicone one. Cheap and highly rated for other phones.

This is the snap together (innocase surface-esque) one. Might be sold out now.
where is the case with the kickstand?
I went yesterday to a sprint store and got me a otterbox commuter case. I love it. They had about 4 different kinds but none with a kickstand. They also had the car dock as well.
TPU case for me. Ordered a few weeks ago from ebay, $4 shipped.
picked up a chase from BB this morning belt clip
case 20
screen protector was free
Are there images of any of these cases?

I got the case that Best Buy sells with a kick stand. It's 2-piece, kickstand, soft-touch, protects well. Very streamline. It costs too much ($40.00) but I had some reward points and ended up getting it for free. Love it!
Hmph, just terrific. To complicate matters, that hardshell case I posted isn't even available until July 13 apparently.... and nobody is showing that it looks like from the front...
I guess I should just at the minimum get a belt-clip pouch for now. Does anyone know of any good horizontal ones that were specifically designed for the Evo 3D instead of just general cases that roughly fit a phone of that shape?
If you like Steinheil screen protectors like me, I just wanted to let you guys know that they are now available to purchase from there website. I bought the Ultra Crystal for $13.99 + shipping (3.06 to NYC).
http://www.sgpstore.com/cell-phone/...-screen-protector-steinheil-ultra-series.html
Also available on Amazon with free shipping if you have Prime.
Ultra Oleophobic $13.99
Ultra Crystal $13.99
Ultra Fine $15.99
If you order one let me know how it fits..I currently have the one that came with the Otterbox Commuter, which does the job but might switch to Steinheil...... I also noticed that they only come with one screen protector as with the Evo 4G it came with two.
I don't get it...the 4G are $12 for 2 protectors, and the 3D are $14 for 1?
Has to be a miss print there as the LG revolution ones come with 2. My other ?'s are 1, why do the ultra clears cost $2 more for the Evo from the base price when the LG Revo's do not have that increase from the base. Also what the heck is "Oleophobic" protectors? How do they differ from the others as they all are antifingerprint according to the title?
Hope these fit better than the Clairvue ones b/c I couldn't stand the areas between the screen and the phone the protector didn't cover with those. was trying dry application ones this time as i had Skinomi on my 4G and loved it before. guess I'll likely be going back to that if SGP doesn't work either.

Oleophobic - lacking affinity for oils.
I am going to assume its "ultra" resistance to fingerprints. I want to see a review for them. Personally I prefer the "liquid application" screen protectors.

I used the SGP Ultra Crystal on my OG EVO. It was extremely good. Unfortunately, I purchased a XO Skins protector for my 3VO. I wish it was released sooner.

Oleophobic... = same type of ez wipe coating that's on the iphone's screen, while its not anti-finger print, it make it much easier to wipe off the oil from the finger prints
are they going to come out with the ultra optic for our 3vo?
Yeah, they have three options - the "regular" one, the fine, and the oleophobic.
Now, I need to decide which one - any input? I had the fine on iPhone and it as nice, but Im thinking of going away from the fine since the screen is so nice on the 3D, Id like to keep it looking regular. I have a screen protector on now from the Sprint Store on launch day and It has an aweful Rainbow effect ... Cant stand it, so I want to swap it with the SGP.
This guy shows all of the 3 types on an iPad 2.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1SlCD5XlB4
For my EVO 4G, I used the SGP Anti-Fingerprint (AF) for a whole year till I sold it and it didn't get any scratches. This was before they changed it to the Ultra Fine (which is suppose to be better, little more clarity).
I'm actually using the 2nd of the pack on my EVO 3D now. I just trimmed the top where the camera used to be and it fits fine. It does reduce clarity but that's expected. However, I see background noise on 3D pics because of the coating of the AF. On my iPad 2, I have the Ultra Fine. It looks to be a tad bit clearer than the AF (I read it's supposed to be 30% more light then before?). What that means to me is the coating will be thinner. It'll attract a few more prints than the AF, but the tradeoff is worth it to get a better picture. You can tell in the video above that the UF attracts his prints. My iPad 2 does this also and it does get annoying because it's hard to wipe it off.
I read in a lot of reviews that the Oleophobic properties will wear off after a few months. I guess that's not too bad if it come with 2, but it says 1 on the site. I'll have to email them to see if it's a misprint. I believe I'll end up getting the Oleophobic or the Crystal Clear this time around because the UF shows the fingerprints a lot easier than the AF. If I'm having to wipe them every now and then, I might as well get the Oleo / CC.

the Ultra Optic is supposed to be a "IN BETWEEN" of the Ultra fine vs the Ultra Crystal
more clarity than ultra fine but less than crystal
more finger print resistant than crystal, but less than ultra fine
I'm hoping they come out with the ultra optic, that's what I want
The best screen protector there is in my opinion

19 dollars for a screen protector???
must be nice to have $$$ to flush down the toilet..
these things actually cost a buck or 2; I've gotten several types off Ebay/Meritline, that worked just as good, if not better, and never paid more than a few bucks, with shipping included...
Steinheil is a major rip off, IMO..

There's a big diff in quality in SP... biggest problem with cheapy ebay one is you are never going to know what you are going to get.
you can get Clear/Crystal one that scratch up even easier than the HTC supplied one... or one that bubble easily.
more importantly with the Anti Glare/Matte screen, quality play a big difference! I've a cheapy ebay one on my wife's Hero, and its no where close compare to my Boxwave on my old TP2, and the boxwave being 2 year old tech is no where close to the OEM apple one. those apple one have much better clarity and less prsimatic effect than even my old boxwave.
I'm thinking the steinheil should be close in quality to the apple one, espeically if they come out with the ultra optic
very often, like those cheap ebay battery, you get what you pay for. its such a guessing game with ebay screen protector, I took a gamble and got a cheap $1.50 one... will see how that goes... at least with the brand name there's tons of reviews out there and you have a level of trust in expectation and performance

I tried several different types and these have been good.
I stay away from the cheap stuff cause it is something you buy to protect the screen. "you get what you pay for" comes into mind
I know you can get lucky and find something decent but I like these and the stick well to the screen and work well.
And the price difference is not huge..

Yep, I have used them..
they were fine, just like several other less expensive ones were..
My only point is that if you look around, you can find ones of similar quality at much lower prices..
so this one claims to be "Highest Quality" for $1.49 and in the US. (most of the cheap ones are from over seas)

I had an SGP on my og evo and loved it. I just pulled the trigger on this one, so once I get it in, I'll report back on how it compares to the SGP quality.
I just recieved my SGP Oleophobic screen protector and it does come with two screen protectors. The install went very easy and it looks like I do not even have it on. The oleophobic protector works just like the phones screen but it will protect it from scratches and what not. Hope this helps some people out. Oh, I ordered Saturday (picked the slowest option) and recieved it today.
Is it just me, or is it weird that this phone is truly a flagship (carried on multiple carriers, amazing specs) and the manufacturers like Seidio, Mugen Power, and the like haven't released ANY accessories? I mean, this is even basically the flagship phone from Google directly...
We've now unlocked the bootloader, which means that ROMs will quickly be available, but this phone is just too thin and slick to NOT have a case of any kind.
The first thing to keep in mind is that although the specs are virtually identical to the N4, the phones external design is completely different. So, one wouldnt fit the other and as such, that point is moot.
Now, i havent done alot of searching, but im also fairly sure that the N4 doesnt have an over abundance of accessories available as of yet, and again, im fairly sure that its probably sold more units than the OG. I checked sites like Seidio.com and they have nothing available for it that i was able to find. The thing is, even phones that dont sell like crazy have alot of accessory options, but they dont usually appear until about a month after the phone is released. It gives accessory manufacturers time to design and make them.
I purchased a One X on launch day about 6 months ago, and i was able to find a case...at AT&T, and a screen protector. However, when i looked on line, i couldnt find many options for it the first few weeks, and now, they are every where. So, i would say be patient, give it time, and you will find that accessories will start appearing from every where. I know Otterbox has a commuter in the works and im guessing many others will too. I for one am hoping Seidio does because i have always loved their cases.

Thanks for the input. I'm hoping what you say is true, and you apparently have the research to back it up. I also wasn't aware that the N4 and LGOG share a different external design... That's good to know.

dont the sprint version and att version have slightly different dimensions anyway? When i went and picked mine up the other day the only OG case they had at best buy didnt fit my phone at all. I wonder if it was specific to the sprint version and didnt say so on the packaging

Best Buy has the Invisible Shield HD from Zagg, and it fits the AT&T variant perfectly. My understanding is that the Zagg site doesn't even list the HD, which is better quality/clarity than the standard protector the site does list.

as we all know there are alot of variants of the L9 some with bigger screens and some with smaller some with the cam not in the center and some with beware when you buy accessories as you must be certain nowadays or you waist the money on something that wont work i have seen many cases as i have p769BK some of the cases i like are for the asian japan versions i just noticed this so i thought to let my friends down here at the L9 Forums know about this

Be especially careful on ebay buying accessories. Many sellers are listing using P769 or Tmobile p769 when the camera cutout is clearly in the corner (for the other varieties). I am envious of some of the nice-looking cases available for the p760. I hope they become availabe for the p769 soon.
yes especially as ive seen alot of that lately thats why i usually by accessories from amazon and a few other places i stick to places i know i can trust read reviews and so on to get the right thing i need its the best for anyone to do if there smart and wanna make sure they dont have to buy something multple times
Buy through reliable sources. I just got a setof Great Shield screen protectors - specifically sold for the T-Mobile L9 but are actually for the 4.7" screen size.
Through Amazon, this should be no more than hassle for me.

Yup that reminds me. .. My wife and I bought two phones at the same time and she was able to get a protective cover for both our phones (bless her)! And then I decided to be a cheap-skate and buy a screen protector from e-bay for $1.45 (1.00 for tmoble screen protector and $.45 for shippings). When I got it eventhough it was suppose to be for TMobile it was way too big for my screen. Si I went to TMobile and negotiated $12.00 for two instead of $16.99. And they put it on for me. So just make sure you are aware that if you buy online be ready to let it go! I didn't fret about $1.45 but I would have been pretty upset about a higher priced screen protector!
Flip Case
Found one flip case for P769 in ebay, seems to be bulky, if anyone tries this

I bought one of these tpu cases for P769 but it's not the same quality as S-Line. Seems stiffer almost like plastic. It flexes. The seam around the edge is sharp and not very comfortable to hold for a long time. Doubt s-line will be made for P769 because of camera location. It's available for the other models. First used S-line case for N4 and it was good. This case has a large cutout for the audio port and top mic. I prefer separate smaller cutouts in s-line.

This screen protector fits P769 but needs to be 1mm longer and wider. Junk turns purplish-green camo pattern after application. Last few cheap clear protectors i ordered for samsung and lg are like that. Always bought cheap clear protectors never seen anything like that before. Cases first. I bought this white hard case for my American P769. Cases looks good but attracts lint in pockets and falls apart when I drop the phone with case on.
Screen protector. I bought this but the protector was too tall for my phone, even though the cutout portions matched the home and front-facing camera. Also, the colors were terrible.
Again, I lament the lack of mainstream accessories available for obscure middle-end smartphones. I wish some company would be courteous enough to design a sturdy, fashionable hard case for the P769.
I agree.. but I've found universal screen protectors are best. They are usually way bigger than ur screen and u have to cut it down to size using scissors..

A couple of slots for Cash and Cards and the stand can sit at a few different angles which make it a good choice over the Official Google Alternative, I don't know who would pay that for this type of case. I think they sell these for around £15 on their site, you can get it cheaper on amazon though I think.
Thoughts on this?
With the promo code 90off1, you can get it for just $3 and it works with virtually any any tablet/phone. Plus you can keep your phone naked (or with just a skin) and pull out this kickstand when necessary. No having to carry around a bulky case.
Granted, those bulky cases will give you protection and have built in kickstands so you don't have to worry about bringing a kickstand wherever you go.
Has pros and cons.
What do you guys think?
Why "essential" ? I'll take a slip case and a folding stand so I don't compromise qi effectiveness thanks!

The Nexus 6 has a great screen and stereo speakers, it will make an excellent media device, and I feel like a case with kickstand is almost essential to take full advantage of this phone.
I loved the stand on my Evo 4G and its a shame more phones didn't copy that feature.

Yeah I agree, a case with a stand functionality would really well with this handset. Purely because of that beautiful screen and the front facing speakers. I can defo see that becoming a trend for all smartphones. Front facing speakers make more sense than having them on the edge or on the sides.
I don't want just any kickstand case. I want one that allows the kickstand to function in both portrait and landscape mode. They are few and far between, but I've found them for my last two phones (GSII and Note II). This is the exact model that I'm using with my Note II at the moment:

That minimalistic design looks good but I'm preferring the Orzsly's multi function. Gotta wonder how the Orzsly impacts inductive charging.
