It is possible that your phone suffered a by now well known Sudden Death Syndrome. If you used a Firmware before, that didn`t included the SDS fix then it could happen. Syndromes are like you described: Phone freezing all the time, not responding etc.
More infos here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2091045
So you can go into download mode right?
If yes then download a official Samsung firmware and then try to flash it through Odin. Now the most important thing for you is to get your phone to a Stock state, so that it hopefully boots up.
Yes i can go into download mode. i download the original firmware from sammobile but still i dont understand witch pit file i must use.

I tried rooting my friend's galaxy s2 (i9100) using odin but after it said PASS (on odin) the phone rebooted itself quitting download mode and then got stuck at the logo screen. Is there any way i can fix the phone? I used this file to root : GT-I9100_JB_ClockworkMod-Recovery_6.0.2.9.tar
I hope someone can help me with as soon as possible, thanks.

I did NOT click on Re-partition. I did what you have said before (flashed again // tried another rom // redownloaded the file) and the phone is still not working. I don't know what to do anymore. I'm afraid I bricked my friend's phone i was just trying to root it

I don't think its bricked... uhmm try to go back to stock rom
go to sammymobile.com and there you can your pda and stuff... I hope everything is gonna be alright
But why is the recovery mode not accessible?
If you were in the process of rooting only then how have you tried out different roms?
Does flashing a recovery itself cause a bootloop?
dude sometimes mine also not boots into recovery. U can flash siyah kernel 6b5 tar version through odin. that will most likely boot into recovery

What isn't working? Did it flash successfully but not boot? Just do a factory reset. If it didn't flash completely, then you have to let us know what happened before it failed.

Ok, so typically when people say they flashed a rom, that means a custom version through a custom recovery. But you said earlier you tried to install through Odin. This is an important distinction. If you tried to flash a custom rom and it didn't work, then flashing the correct stock firmware through Odin will resolve. If you flashed through Odin and it gave you that warning, then you need to find the right one and re-try.

Yes, flashing the original firmware via Odin should get you working again.

will it work if i used samsung kies recovery
Possibly, but if the system had already been modified, I find Odin to be a more reliable fix.

Flash back to stock with Odin and don't forget to factory reset after flashing or you could even try flashing PhilZ recovery with odin boot into PhilZ after flashing and factory reset see if that works if not flash stock and start again.

Direct link https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/i9300/ you need the.tar.md5 version for Odin. PhilZ thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/orig-development/i93xx-philz-touch-t2002953 you can also backup efs with PhilZ recovery too.

Quite possible but have you tried all the options first like (1) flashing back to stock with Odin also if you have flashed back to stock with Odin did you factory reset after flashing? (2)rescue firmware (only use as last resort because it containes a pit file)

Hi tallman just got my SIII back from samsung service center, they said ther is an I C not working, but now justried to flash philz recover Odin failed to ans it says something non Pit file something like that.
If an IC isn't working then pay for the repair or buy a new phone, flashing won't fix a dead chip.
