I have had problems downloading from Goo in the past, the MD5s didn't match a few times so got used to downloading from source and stopped having those issues. Try downloading from the sources, all the things you need, check the MD5s to ensure they aren't corrupt and set aside. Sounds like the cell will power up so try the bootloader methods, power down while turning on and if you can get to the bootloader you should be golden. Just follow the other posters recommendations etc..
good luck.

Wow. That's nuts that you actually bricked from wiping and flashing a ROM and gapps. I can't even imagine how that would happen,...even with a bad DL.
From my Evo LTE, yup.

Need help ASAP

Alright i need help badly. I consider myself an advanced noob in installing roms and kernals on a phone. I have the rezound. I unlocked it about a week about and went through the step by step instructions. I installed ziggys kernal. I was getting some bootloops but not to many until this morning. My phone kept bootlooping. I would take the battery out and put it back and it would do it again. I tried wiping the date cache and dalvik. Nothing. I then formatted all to ext3. After i did that it said i need to install a rom. I try to restart my phone and it just stays on the HTC screen. I tried to do the factory restore. Nothing. I have to put my sd card in after i get into recovery because when i go to the bootloader screen the HBOOT does something and then asks me if i want to do an update. I tried and hit yes and it did it then reboots but nothing. When i hit no it just wants me to reboot my phone, which does nothing for me. As it is right now my phone wont load. it just stays on the HTC screen. HELP please

I would try that but my phone will not boot. it will not go past the HTC start up screen

The other half of the problem is that it sounds like he formatted ext3 and wiped his ROM. So, he'd have to reboot back into recovery and restore a backup or drop a new ROM on the phone via USB.
Grab the RUU and start all fresh again.

Good point. I'm in class, so I just read it quickly. RUU sounds like the way to go.....start with a clean slate.

This is one of the reasons I have not tried to hack this device. Although I may unlock/root my Rezound I'm not in a hurry to. It's really a great device. Just too expensive for me to maybe mess up. Especially since its our own fault if we do. Can't blame the carrier/manufacturer for not paying to fix/replace either. Hopefully you get it fixed soon. I know I wouldn't want to have to go through all that either.
i just installed the CleanRom. Ill let you know if this works

You need to reflash the kernel in order to get wifi to work.

The answer should be in the CleanRom thread but as far as I know if you flashed Ziggy's Kernel, you should reflash it and that should solve the problem.
Oops, just noticed this was already answered.

It shouldn't. You can't brick with unlock S-On. If you can get to HBOOT, you are fine. And there is no way to overwrite HBOOT yet.

And does it need to be said that this phone has been out for less than a month? Maybe we should give the devs a chance to work out the kinks before we start flashing.
I *really* miss WiFi tethering that I used to do with my DInc, but I am not about to root in the first two weeks of ownership before I see good, dependable feedback from the community.
I love this phone too much.

Not trying to knock you but I don't see the point in waiting. Flashing a rom is fairly straightforward and even flashing kernels is for the most part. I had an Incredible prior to this and I am absolutely in love with my phone...that's why I read how to do things properly and learn from others mistakes.
Take the plunge! It's great on the otherside

There is a wifi tether app that doesn't require root. Koush is the dev. I tried it and it worked. That was the only thing I would have needed root for also. You should be able to find it if you search for it. If not, I'll find the link.
Edit: I found the link

[Q] I need help to stop all the reboots

hello and thank you for taking the time to read my post and your efforts to help.
my rebooting problem is really frustrating because it seems to inconsistent to really describe. i'll try my best.
gsm evo 3d Rogers Canada
unlocked, rooted using revolutionary, s-off
now it reads hboot 1.49.1107, radio 10.13.9020.08_2m
ive tried several roms and kernels (king cobra, ROMeOS, LeeDroid) -nothing solves my problem. Im currently on ROMeOS with the stock kernel he provided.
I've done SEVERAL full wipes by clearing cache, dalvik, full wipes and used superwipe. still no good.
1) it tends to do a lot of rebooting in the morning after charging all night. ill wake up, use it for a while and it'll reboot in my hands or seconds after i put it down.
2) the only thing that seems to help prevent reboots sometimes is turning it off and leaving it off for a few hours. but even this only works inconsistently.
3) Ive often noticed a huge battery drain (roughly 20% in 30 mins) on those mornings when it then proceeds to reboot.
sometimes, after leaving it off for a few hours and turning it on again, it reads a higher battery level and then works well the rest of the day. in fact, once it begins to work well, it tends to drain nice and slowly and not give any problems until the next morning after another night of charging.
Ive noticed that often, if i get the big drains in the morning, i can unplug it and immediately replug it until it reaches full and it then works well with no reboots and good battery life that day.
it also takes forever to go from 99% to 100% charged.
4) another thing that bothers me is that i can do all the wipes and clean install a rom and it'll will work fine for a few weeks until all this starts happening again. OR it can begin repeating these problems right after a clean rom install.
5) another weird thing is that often, i cannot turn the phone on without using volume up and down and power at the same time.
I wanted to return to the stock rom without losing root so and i downloaded the rogers stock RUU thinking it would be a ZIP file that i could just flash through CWM but i keep reading contradicting instructions on how to do that. some just said "download the RUU, plug into PC and install" but that sounds really vague. In other posts it says i have to relock bootloader and extract the zip etc -which seems so much more complicated than just flashing a new zip file. so im stuck not knowing what to do.
have mercy on me guys...

i finally got to download it but its an exe file and i havnt found clear instructions for how to use it. i'm used to flashing zip files from CWM.
can you please advise?
i read its just a matter of plugging the phone to the pc with usb debugging and running the exe file. with this method, will i lose superuser permissions, s-off, or root?
I'm a Sprint user but I had a huge issue with random reboots after upgrading to the latest OTA from sprint. I have s-off through revolutionary. It sounds exactly like the issues the OP described so I'm just going to say that the only way I got rid of my random reboots was to use the latest RUU.exe file from my PC to restore my phone to completely stock (but you keep s-off after using the RUU). Every time I tried to upgrade to the newest OTA from Sprint using a PG86IMG.zip file, I would have the random reboot issue. After the RUU, no more random reboots on any ROM, whether it was MIUI, Sense 3.0, 3.5, or AOSP/ICS
Also, I sent some detailed instructions via PM to a few sprint XDAers who asked for help getting rid of random reboots. The replies I got all said the reboot issue went away. Idk if it's the same sort of underlying issue for everyone on the GSM EVO 3D, just thought I'd share my experiences

Put the exe on your computer, not your phone. boot into fastboot (hold vol down and press power on, then choose fastboot), then plug your phone in and run the exe on your computer.
EDIT: just noticed I didn't answer everything you said. You keep s-off, but lose the custom recovery, and root/superuser (same thing essentially). Getting root back is really simple though, all you have to do is add superuser back to the stock ROM (RUU puts you on completely stock ROM/kernel) or flash a custom recovery again and then any ROM from recovery, and you'll get superuser/root back in that ROM
Try this its helps with reboots. A lot of useres tend to neglect cleaning there sd and it can cause major reboots on all kind of roms and kernels

Hope this helps

I think Im bricked

I went to OTA update MeanRom from 3.1 to 3.2 and after the rom install and reboot my phone kept rebooting, I waited for about 45 minutes just make sure it wasnt going to take.
I then used fastboot to install my last recovery however, the recovery install froze at installing /system for over an hour. I had no choice but to try and reboot as none of the buttons worked. I am now stuck at the HTC screen and can not get into fastboot or phone.
I've tried searching for a solution for a day and still have had no luck. Cant run RUU as it has a USB error which I expected as the phone never boots.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I am/was on latest radio/firmware/s-off.

I'm confused...You were flashing a recovery from fastboot? Or were you doing a nandroid restore? You tried holding volume down + power to get into the bootloader right?

Did you do the restore from recovery (TWRP) or did you use fastboot? I ask because fastboot isn't typically used to restore from a nandroid backup, so just trying to understand your description. Do you have adb on your pc?

Gotcha...then this is very strange. Once you have adb installed, try plugging the phone into your pc, power it on and when it's at the HTC screen try the "adb reboot recovery" command and see if that gets you into TWRP. I've never tried using adb from that screen so not sure if the phone is capable of communicating at that point, but worth a shot...

That's what I was afraid of...the only other thing I can think of is to maybe try flashing a new boot image, but you may have the same problem you had with adb in not being able to communicate with the phone. What you would need to do is pull the boot.img file out of the MeanROM zip, put it somewhere on your PC, then with your phone plugged in open the command prompt and type:
Code:
fastboot flash boot <path_to_boot_img>boot.img
It's basically the same process as installing a new kernel on the new hboot version, which is outlined here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1794867
Typically you have to be in the bootloader for this, but it's worth a try from the HTC screen. I've been successful with the fastboot command when adb does not see the device, so may work in this case as well. If not, then I'm out of ideas. Since you can't get to the bootloader, you should be able to take it into sprint or best buy without them knowing you tampered with it. Just tell them you took the latest OTA and the battery died during the installation or something. Hopefully they will exchange it, but you run the risk of getting one with the new hboot and losing S-OFF Better than no phone at all though, I suppose...
Not too sure if u have a recovery installed but regardless you should be able to simulate a battery pull by holding power button for 10 seconds or until the captive button lights flash 12 times I think. When the phone powers down press and hold volume down only and you should boot into boot loader. From here you should have a better chance of using adb or fastboot or recovery if you have twrp installed. If you can get to boot loader you have options especially since your s-off.
Good luck man

Ok I was able to get into bootloader and tried to flash MeanRom after wiping cache/dalvik/factory reset/system three times each with a new download of MeanRom and it said it flashed successfully. I rebooted and it keeps getting almost to setup then reboots. Should I try an RUU again? If so what version should I use?
Bootloader says:
Jewel PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
CID-SPSC_001
HBOOT-1.12.111
RADIO-1.05.11.0606

Ok I was able to get into bootloader and tried to flash MeanRom after wiping cache/dalvik/factory reset/system three times each with a new download of MeanRom and it said it flashed successfully. I rebooted and it keeps getting almost to setup then reboots. Should I try an RUU again? If so what version should I use?
Thanks again!

That's good you can get into the bootloader, as previous poster said, you have a lot more options. I would save RUU as a last resort. See if you can flash a different ROM, like viper 4g or clean ROM. Or maybe an older version of mean ROM.

That's odd that after a full wipe mean ROM won't boot. Wasn't there issues with mean ROM if your recovery wasn't up to date. I would do a full wipe and try to restore a nandroid. Someone with more knowledge than me can defo help you . You can access bootloder, you have a recovery installed so you should be fine.

Ok upgraded to the latest TWRP and tried MeanROM again. No go so now I will try CM10 to see if that works
Great news CM10 works and so does an old version of MeanROM guess I just cant run version 3.2 or 3.3. Thanks again for all of the help everyone! This place is the best.

I am not sure if that is all it is. I tried to install 3.3 and then flashed the stock kernel over it and still couldn't boot properly. Its ok it forced me to try CM10.

evo lte stuck at "quietly brilliant" screen. cant get to recovery

I was rooted on MeanROM, and from TWRP I cleared the cache and delvic cache and did a factory wipe, then tried to install the cm10 nightly build, but it said failed, so I cleared and wiped again and tried installing the FreshEVO ROM that I had on it before the MeanROM, it never finished installing, just froze after a while. then TWRP restarted then went into the white HTC "quietly brilliant" screen with the red disclaimer and stuck there. When i hold the power down, it just reboots back to this screen. I cant get it into recovery or bootloader or anywhere but this. My computer isn't recognizing the phone, I tried to adb to it from cmd but its not showing up. I don't think i had the latest hboot or whatever on it, it's been probably two months since i first rooted it. any help would be great, please and thank you. I'm heading to work but i'll check this on my breaks and answer any questions i can about what ive done. I was about to trade the phone for an s3 this saturday, but im sure he wont want it like this! THANK YOU.
I'm just gonna say this and don't take it offensively... That is the risk you took rooting your phone.. if you can get into bootloader, try loading a current ruu on there and see If that works.

No offense taken, I understood the risks, and I accept the consequences, which is why I'm fairly calm and not freaking out. I'm going to read more into RUU's on my break, as I'm not completely sure how to do that. Does the computer have to recognize my device for that? I would think so. Is there a trick to getting from this white HTC screen back to TWRP other than trying to reboot or pwr+vol down? Everything just keeps going back here. It wont even turn off without the battery draining.. I'll keep reading on my break, any other helpful comments are definitely welcome. Thanks.
Hold down the power button for 10 seconds and the lights on the capacitive buttons will blink. As soon as the screen goes black wait about half a second then hold volume down and power to get into bootloader then go into recovery.
Hope that helps you. That's how I've always gotten back into recovery when I have a bad flash.

This is correct and works. Couldn't boot after trying to install Chainfie 3D drivers but got to recovery this way.

did you ever get this going? Sounds like from what i was seeing you got into your BL finally. I would try reinstalling TWRP like the second part of the OP http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1794867 and then select reboot to recovery from the bootloader ot the button method. If you get back into twrp restore the last working rom setup you had which sounds like meanrom. If it works come back and let us know.

For some reason none of my roms would install though other than the jewel stock of the latest update with root that i had on here. It worked and I'm good to go. Thanks for the help though! Anyone know why the roms that i installed before are falling Everette i try to install them now? I always wipe and restore first..

I'm willing to bet that you are not S-OFF, and on Hboot 1.15 or higher, and that was the issue when you tried to install CM10. Make sure you read the instructions for flashing CM10, because you have to do something special to flash a kernel when you are S-ON. Now, as far as the old roms not being able to flash, it may be that they were based on the original 1.13 software version with the 1.13 kernel, and it won't let you flash over your current kernel because the version is older. Essentially, if you are S-ON, you can't flash a kernel unless it matches or is a newer version than the one you have. Of course, you can follow one of the many guides on how to flash boot (kernel) with S-ON to get around this.

Wow yes this all made perfect sense! I didn't think about my old roms not being compatible, and i also didn't realize i needed s-off for cm10. I have a bad habit of thinking i can just throw a zip on my card and flash it and it will magically work perfectly lol.. This kind of thinking is what gets me into trouble! Where can i read about turning s-off for installing cm10? Are there links on the download page?

S-OFF info is here, but because you are having this issue, you probably have HBoot 1.15 or higher, which means you can't achieve S-OFF until a new exploit is found.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737123
There are methods for flashing kernels here with S-ON here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1794867
Also, there's the newer twrp dumlock method if you install the latest version ot TWRP (2.2.1). http://teamw.in/project/htcdumlock

You dont have to have s-off though like he said for cm-10 you just need an extra step or two. I dont blame you for trading it in I did the same. Except I am going back to the Gnex.

Well I'm going back cuz of the non htc clustscrew and the openess of the platform. No bs no s on or s off dev unlocks etc...its how a phone should be. Better camera functionality and I know the sammy platform. Imho it may be older but its a far superior device. Could afford any device out there and to me its hands down gnex

right on. I did enjoy that phone. I LOVE the camera on my EVO LTE though, that's the one thing ill miss about this one. I did just find out that the ass that was supposed to trade me on saturday already traded someone, so i'm stuck with the LTE for a while now, so i might venture into putting cm10 on it, but then again i might wait til a more stable version hits, just depends on how long that may take..

Ruu it back to stock locked and ebay it. Should get enough for nib sealed gnex. I found one for 319.00. Saw a couple s3 on swappa for about 430-440 nib sealed. Saw a bad esn one going for 290ish so yours should be 350ish or more

[Q] Why are these roms not working?!? x.x

There were two main roms I wanted to try after I finally S-OFF'd my phone yesterday. Hatka Supreme 1.1.0 and Carbon. Neither of these worked and I'm glad that I backed up my S-OFF rooted stock rom. Hatka Supreme, the guy states its best to use Beast Mode kernal with the rom, which I flashed after I installed the room, and it just randomly reboots at the splash screen/a few seconds after getting into Android, so I restored my stock and everything worked fine. Next, I tried Carbon, and it just sat there at the carbon flash screen for like 20 minutes, so again, I had to restore to stock. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Is there a difference between Original Android Development and Android Development? Should I be looking at the original or what? I'm really lost, I'm going to try another rom, hopefully someone replies to this before it finishes downloading. Thanks for the help.
EDIT: I'd rather just sit and wait to see if someone replies before I waste time downloading another rom...any help would be appreciated.

It's probably your recoverys fault. On my last DNA I had nothing but failures. Once it took at least 30 times to get a Rom installed. Never solved the issue on that phone. I just soffed my new DNA yesterday, installed the newest cwm touch and flashed 4 different roms with no problem. Try re-flashing cwm touch.

Yes, still the same thing, I'm not saying I didn't do that the first time though, that's like the basics of installing a rom.

Do you think its TWRP's fault? After I found out there was no way to mount USB storage in TWRP I wanted to switch to CWM, but sadly I don't know how.

I would rather use goomanager, because it seems easier, but the only thing it seems to be able to download is the twrp image. How would I set it to cwm?
I have canvas 2 running on suvi6 Jupiter rom i have some prob with this when i reboot some icon on home screen will disappear, i found that those apps which r installed on ext sd card its icon will disappear from home screen, but apps working in apps list, only icon from home screen disappeared.
Other problem is that while incoming a call i cannot see full picture of caller becoz half screen is black and half picture can be seen.

I'm no expert, but when u flashed hatka, did u reboot into the system before flashing beast mode kernel? Flashing a kernel in the same recovery session is a no no. Also, beast mode is not compatible with carbon, fyi.

I did that the first time, and thats when I started experiencing it, so I figured that was the problem. So I restored to stock, and then just tried flashing the rom and booting, still same thing, rebooting every 5 seconds. Sometimes I'm able to get into settings, scroll up and down a few times, and then it reboots.
EDIT: If I remember correctly, I didn't even flash beast mode kernel after I flashed carbon.
