Ok, first off, I know the phone JUST came out, but some of your polished guys should know how to answer some of these questions. I understand the the BL on this phone is unlockable, I came from devices where that is NOT the case lol. So, what is the order of operations here? Root, unlock, go? Or...? Basically, who wants to post some how-to's for guys like me?
just wait until the devs get somewhere. they'll make a post explaining what & how to do things. operations/sequence can vary from phone to phone.

They (devs) have to find a way to unlock the bootlloader, once that is done they will find a way for a perm root. Once they root the phone you are off to the races with roms, backups, etc. Just takes some time.

Oh yeah. You know about all that SBF crap .
Hopefully it wouldn't be as difficult to get your Rezound S-Off once the development is underway. I don't see it being nearly as difficult as the Moto devices.

This is good news to a lot of newer 3D owners.
OP made my day.
If this really comes out i'll totally relock and reroot using this method, HTC method is pain in the ass honestly. This is great! Give the dev a medal.
Well dip me in **** and roll me in breadcrumbs, this might be the best Thanksgiving yet.

More than likely an exploit found in 1.5 will exist in earlier hboots, also.
Left you a thanks OP, this is definitely welcoming news in case I ever need to unroot & take in my 1.30 hboot 3D into Sprint for service.

To relock just do the same when you unlock and follow the instructions given it will tell you what you need to do to relock, very easy and simple
I wonder how this will work, as the dev has been banned from XDA, and isn't affiliated with Revolutionary. I'm sure he's not going to just allow someone to post it up on the forum, and he charges a fee on his site for the Evo Shift root kit on his site (actually a required donation), due to user abuse of bandwidth on his site.
I'm excited, as I was waiting to root my 3d until a S-Off solution was discovered (I don't want a watermark on my bootloader), and even if he does charge for the tool, as long as it isn't outrageous, I'll probably "donate"

thanks!

To all the people on this forum much smarter than me - I will give you as much support and information as I can in order to get a working root exploit on this badboy. As of now, zergrush and gingerbreak are aboard the SS Fail. I actually managed to snag the only Galaxy Note for Bell shipped to my city, but can't properly "move in" to the phone until we get root and thus I get Titanium up and running.
Say the word, and I'll provide whatever I can to the cause. It is the same model of phone that AT&T is getting.
**Edit: Would post this in the dev forum, but I've pretty much lurked XDA for years and never really got around to posting much...so I'm still not allowed.

Does the Bell Rom have working NFC? can this be ported over to the AT&T rom?
I can confirm NFC is operational in the Bell ROM that ships with the device. Funny thing is, nobody is advertising this phone has NFC up here.

You're right beaups, let me break it down:
-From the CID.apk method, I got the "VZW_001" in abd fastboot oem readcid, which I heard is a no go.
-At HTCDev I got the error code #160 message (MID Not allowed) when I pasted the token ID (from start to end, excluding the word INFO) that I obtained from fastboot oem get_ identifier_token.
-RUU.exe stated not to be able to update my device to 1.15xxx from 2.4.605.2
I don't know what else to do. I cannot retire my Droid 4 just yet because of that. Your help would be very appreciated.

As this is my first post I beg of you to take it a little easy on me. I am currently on the new OTA and have had the DNA for 5 days. I realize the lockdown on this phone is particularly harsh with this update so I am curious if I can return the phone to Verizon for a non-updated new one but I will need some type of ammo to go in there with to really get them to exchange it. The only problem I have had so far is that my financial pages for paying bills (Verizon included) and my expense reporting will not load. Perhaps this is a java error that the OTA may have caused and I am sure Verizon wants their money so that will be a way to win.
Are there any major issues with the current OTA I can add to my complaint list to get my hands on another one?
And yes, it is very rude to ask a dev if they are coming close to a solution but I am curious if it will be all for naught and the workaround is on the horizon or in the near future. I'm sure it's on many new owners' minds and they are scared to ask so let the noob bashing begin on me. I can take the abuse.
Knowing my luck I will come home from the store and blammo beaups and jcase have cracked it.
Update : Called Verizon, made claim, got a new in box sealed DNA, brought it home and went to work on it!
Proud owner now of a rooted, unlocked, s-off, rom and custom kernel running, new OTA radio, future updates from Verizon ota's blocked, bad boy of a DNA!
well the droid DNA and the One S and the One XL just got s-off!! also i was just on twitter and jcase said that it will work on the evo 4g LTE also it it looks mad easy! he said if we want it they will support it :good: no sdcard needed either! check it out its called #facepalm S-OFF! for all modern HTC phones
this is what jcase said he needs...-jcase- "I need an update.zip, link to a supercid procedure, and a s-on user with supercid and root".. i have no clue what that is but im sure someone here can help get what he needs to get this goin
Why the hell do you want to waste an exploit on this device if we already have one? It's not a problem also we dont have a superCID procedure. You're sitting here wanting S-off on a device that's already been hacked not only that, you have no idea what most of this **** even is. How can you expect to be of any use when debugging something when you don't know what SuperCID is. This is a useless thread and completely unecessary. We already have an s-off exploit, lets not waste it until a future update we can't get past?

It's not a matter of him being mad, it's a matter of you starting an unwarranted thread about an exploit that isn't necessary for our device.
While jcase's method could possibly be adapted to our device, it would be unnecessary for jcase to dedicate time to a device with an existing, and fairly simple s-off method, when he could be dedicating time to devices that have nothing currently.
Feel free to ask if I'm mad, because I'm not. The only people that should be mad, were the ones that ever followed your advice, now that it is apparent that you don't understand the device you hold in your hand.

It's refreshing to see that you just prove my perception of you as an individual with your quick resort to the standard Internet tough guy and 'you wouldn't say that in real life' antics. Be certain, that I would, as I am no different regardless of my settings.
You made a senseless thread, because you wanted thanks or something. Then when it's brought to attention, you get all gangster as though anyone cares.
Your profile says that android saves and keeps you out of trouble... How about just growing up, taking responsibility for actions, and being an adult. Your ghetto, tough guy act makes you seem very unintelligent and uneducated.
I'll be exiting this thread now, as it has nothing more to offer besides aggravation due to your feeble minded ways.
