ok, so i have an SGS4G now, and i've had it for about a year now (since when it came out, not exactly sure how long ago that was ) and at the time of my getting it, i had a vibrant. i didn't know much of anything about customizing android phones at the time and randomly one night i was like "i wonder what i can do to hack this thing". so i rooted my vibrant but never installed a rom or kernel cuz as i said, i had no clue what it really was.
but my question is, would it be ridiculous for me to go back to the vibrant? i mean i LOVE my SGS4G, but there is so much more available for the vibrant. and i don't really use my FFC and i'm on wifi for a lot of the day so i don't think only having 3g would be a big issue for me.
thanks for your input.
well if you want to flash custom roms then the vibe is the way to go as it has more development going than the 4g.

I had a SGS4G and I just sold it on eBay because their is just so many more options for this phone. The Roms that the SGS4G does have are great, but their are only like 2 or 3 developer's for that phone (who are awesome by the way). This phone just has so much more to choose from.

I'm due for my upgrade soon, and am finding it very difficult to find a replacement that offers as much. Never mind development, new phones are just not hitting the mark. Either the resolution is piss poor (SGS2), or removable storage is missing (Galaxy Nexus), or there's no removable battery (One S), or no development or support (Blaze 4g) etc.. This phone offered everything when it was released, and now I'm spoiled.

I winder if tmo offers any bonus for waiting to upgrade

I agree 100%. I had a choice between a Nexus S and this and I chose this and never looked back. This is a great phone to learn on but also it is extremely user friendly and now with all the ICS ROMs and many devs coming back on one form or another, it should be a no brainer. Does that extra G really make that much difference?
That's my question really. And I also wonder how the battery life is on the vibrant with custom Roms and kernels and whats the best combo?

You've already got that 1650mah battery from the 4g, and the Epic Touch's 1800mah also fits in the Vibrant, so battery life has gotten pretty good lately. Not to mention ICS ROMs, like AOKP, get very good battery life.

With Passion 13 RC1 and Ice Kiss Kernel 8.2 I was able to charge my phone every two days... amazing battery life... 3g always on! the only issue is that GPS breaks after deep sleep, so if you need that, it might be a pain in the ass..
right now I am using CM9 + SubZero Kernel #70. Battery life is not as good as the mentioned above, but it works very well. And GPS doesn't break after DS, as long as you get a lock once the system starts (first time at boot).

Hi guys,
I have an OTG cable which is great as I'm using it with my External HDD but I want to use it to print photos off of my phone. I have seen the PrinterShare app, however the app costs too much at nearly £8!
So, can anyone recommend an app or way of doing this for free please? (My printer isn't a Samsung)
Also, is there anywhere I can go to read about what the OTG can actually be used for? (I know there are YouTube video, however I want to read at my leasure)
Any help is greatly appreciated

That's what I'm saying yeah, considering the cable cost me 30p its a bit of a difference. I'm just wanting a free option as I had with my iPhone 4......

So I'm coming from a Samsung Infuse, and honestly, this phone cannot piss me off even more than I already am. I'm talking about constant resets (stuck power button), terrible GPS reception, UNBEARABLE LAG even with the latest paranoid android, and finally, messed up APN settings which bares the phone useless since I can't have any service on it! So now you understand of my struggles with my current phone. I'm in search for something that I can rely on and won't have even the slightest bit of lag after 2+ years of owning it.
Now, I've been doing some research on some phones (gs3, htc one x, htc one, gs4) And I come here to find out your honest opinion on the GS3 since the time you've owned it. Should I save some cash buying a GS3 or a One X, or are there some sort of problems with these phones that have ticked you off that I should consider paying the extra buck and looking at the 2013 flagships instead?
I would suggest the SIV over the SIII..

OP, if I were you, I'd wait until the S4. Not because the S4 is a good phone, we don't really know. But because I'd like to know if the S3 sources are to be released. Otherwise, stay away from exynos.
You'll thank me later.

If you really want an S3, what about the I9305? 2G RAM! If you can afford a G4 go for that instead, if cash is tight perhaps a second hand G3. Should be a few out there soon cheap, when people have upgraded.

If you can get the S3 for a gooood price, get it and install SlimBean no lag at all stable as rock. Faster then a n4
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I'd recommended waiting for the S4. The S3 is a great phone but at least you'll be future-proof with the Galaxy S4 (in terms of updates, camera, display, and RAM). That's quite a lot of things!

Yeah it's a drawback, one I would find myself very hard to live with, but I would make compromises. I love that my S3 is capable of reading sdcards but I would easily give up that for something that runs lovely aosp as awesomely as the Nexus

I would be probably on Nexus 4 already if it supports USB OTG to mount external drives.
S3 have bad multitasking management, huge delay when you open dialer, mms and galery app.
I have spent lot of hours to fix these issues thanks to xda devs. It is a good phone (huge battery removable, good screen, ext sd card, powerfull) with a bad programmation.
I advise you a nexus one or a htc.

All i'm saying is to get a phone with 2Gb of ram. S4 or even the S3 with 4G is fine. The N4 is subject to different considerations (do you want an sdcard, etc) but it's a powerhouse too.
While the S3 nearly doesn't lag at all, not having multitask isn't fun and you'll definitly have a better experience if your apps aren't closing all the time due to lack of memory. This annoys me to no end and i'm replacing it whenever an oportunity arrises.

Hey there guys, I just have some quick questions. Wondering if anyone here could point me in the right direction. I was walking in the T-Mobile store and I saw this at a very good price. I am thinking for the price this phone is too good to be true. So I came here to the forum that'll know best about this device.
Well for starters how good is the battery life on this device? On the Sensation (my current device) I could only get about 6-7 hours. That's if I leave it not on vibrate and I just continuously play music via Apollo.
Second, how good is the camera? The Sensation has a pretty decent camera. I don't use the camera often but when I do, I at least want the pictures to look nice.
Lastly, how loud is the phone? On my Sensation the volume is dismal. I can barely hear it, and on headphones it's not loud at all. I need a phone that's loud!
If you can answer these questions, I'll be forever thankful. Thanks a lot!

I have to say first is that this phone is low on int storage. BUT you can switch the int storage to the ext. meaning that your sd card will act as the int storage.
Guide can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096138
Back to the topic.. Hm, battery is pretty good on v20f if you ask me. I was listening to music for about an hour and wasted like 6% im guessing. And the camera quality is great for 5mp or 8? I forgot which one we had but yeah. And the speaker is LOUD, idk how loud you want it but its loud.

Legit! I want my speaker loud! I don't want to worry if I got a missed notification or not. What is v20f? I assume that is a kernel. 5MP camera is fine with me. Long as it gets the job done. Can this phone do 64GB cards? My 32GB is getting full. Thanks for replying!

Its smooth, but if you want something smoother i'd download nova launcher. Im using nova as of now jest because I'm messing around and experimenting. And yes you can root, easiest way is in this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338816
And if you dont like stock you can always unlock the bootloader to flash custom ROM's, BUT it can be difficult for you if you do not know what you're doing nor have enough experience. I'll post the link to unlock bootloader in a sec..
Ok heres the guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277639
EDIT: You might not like the stock keyboard, idk if you might like it or not but i'm using Google keyboard, which can be downloaded in play store. Simple & fast. Just saying.

I'm coming from a Gnex, and I love my new One. Battery is great, so I no longer need to switch out batteries constantly (I think the Gnex was just a battery drainer). Super smooth, zero lag. Awesome speakers. I kinda miss vanilla android look (even though I was on CM10), but I'm getting used to Sense. Overall, I don't think you can go wrong with the One.
