Does anyone know what samsungs plans are for further s voice development?
I'm slowly getting used to it but there is still room for improvement. I'd really like it if they did stay committed to it. Google now does not work over blue tooth. And all the other personal assistant apps aren't that great either.
My s voice is at version 10.0 and 10.1 is available but i can't seem to get it to update. Any suggestions?
Well GS4 is here with a new S voice complete with S voice drive. Unfortunately, I can't figure out if I'll be able to get it on my note 2 (and how, for that matter). I can't even get the latest version from the samsung app store.

Hey guys... long time no see..
Before I start -- I know very little about Android, so be gentle. The last experience I've had hacking a phone was with my HTC TyTN and Kaiser back in 2008, before I switched to an iPhone... I've been an iPhone fanboy for a few years now, and am now looking at Android because the iPhone 4 and my new car's media system don't play well together.
My big question is if anyone in here has any idea if the Atrix can support the Bluetooth MAP Profile? That's the profile that lets another bluetooth device (like a car's media system) send and receive text messages via the phone. Moto's site says 'no' at http://developer.motorola.com/products/atrix-mb860/.
But here's what confuses me: every other Motorola phone running Android (even 2.1) does support it... and all of the phones that have been upgraded to 2.2.1 (including the Droid X) do support it.
How come a newer phone, with a newer version of the OS, doesn't support it?
Any idea if anyone is working to add such support to the Atrix? Is there any chance anyone will release a ROM that can be applied to the Atrix that will support it?
BUMP for this as i am curious just bought a new ford with the MY touch, looking for an android phone that has the MAP profile and will work in canada.
I have ford sync and it functions well, however, whether due to inadequacies in sync or the atrix itself text functions are hit or miss. It does however work well for media applications such as using the using the bluetooth for media such as music playing and all of the steering wheel functions work correctly to pause, forward etc. To be frank, I don't really see the need for text functions through the head unit as apps like vlingo are much more intuitive....
so you couldn't get the texting to work at all through the sync system?
Vlingo is a cool app, but you still need to have your phone in your hand to control it that way
id like to be able to do everything from the car
i wonder why some people are saying they got their Sync system to work with the atrix?

you need 2.3.4 from moto..
I have Android 2.3.4 and I have not been able to get text messaging between Ford Sync and my Motorola Atrix to work. (mb860 w/system version 4.5.91.MB860.ATT.en.US)
Anyone with this setup got it to work?
I think it depends alot on the car model. I have a 2010 Ford Fusion with the nav system (big lcd screen) and after a recent (not the one that may or may not have just come out) Atrix update I am able to receive text messages through the car. Pops up, though I still have to press the screen to read/hear the message. I cannot, or do not know how, to get the car to send anything but the built in reply options. It dulls the effect when you send "I love you. -Sent by Ford Sync". But yes, it works. Also make sure your car's sync OS is updated to the newest version.
As for audio it makes the sound go without a problem, but the controls only seem to work if the application is open and not in the background. Minor annoyance, and there is a few second delay but it works pretty well if you need to shut up a podcast (I love Stitcher).
On another note I just changed from stock moto rom to Cyanogenmod 7 and have lost the SMS abilities entirely it seems. Looking for a way to get that back.
Atrix 4G with bluetooth MAP
I have a Atrix 4G and 2012 Ford Truck with Sync. The 2012 version Sync will read your SMS to you, but wil not send any Text. The Atrix 4G is not listed as having Bluetooth MAP but the Atrix 2 is. And those of you with older Fords, if you have a SyncMyRide account you may be able to upgrade your version of Sync, or your Ford Dealer could do it too.
The Ford web site has a list of compatible phones (in PDF), but I don't remember where I found it. The list is old and many of the newer phones isn't listed, but the Atrix 4G is.
Oh! I had down loaded Go SMS pro on my phone and my truck stopped talking to me. So I had to remove that app.
I use Google's voice search / voice actions... whatever it is called... not one of the after-market ones. Up until recently, voice-to-text worked really well. I was always asking my phone questions like, "What is the distance to the sun?" or "Navigate to Jim Punjack's house." etc., but lately, it doesn't understand anything I'm saying. I could say "Navigate to Jim Punjack's house" and it will show suggestions like, "Aggregate of two gipsy pancake houses". Did Google make some change in their services? I know "Google Now" is a superior version that is not available to my phone (HTC Amaze) unless I install a custom ROM. I'm running rooted, S-Off, with stock ROM but because of this, I'm considering finding a ROM that will allow me to use Google Now. UNLESS one of you has a tip to get this Android 4.0.1 version of Google Voice Search/Actions to be reliable again?
Does our S4 support bluetooth MAP? How would I go about adding or gaining MAP if we do not have it?
I'm asking because I just bought a new car, 2013 Optima w/UVO by microsoft, and have my S4 all linked up, everything is is working EXCEPT the text reading feature, which from what I can find, relates to not having a MAP in the New bluetooth/Android OS/etc.., and is a very common issue.
How do I get this going on the S4?

The original specs for the S4 indicated that it supported MAP, but if it is present, it doesn't work right. I have a Kenwood head unit and a Ford Sync system that handled MAP just fine with my old Galaxy S running an AOKP ICS ROM, but won't work with the S4 running stock ROM. Bluetooth in general seems to be problematic with the S4. I'm on T-Mobile, so I haven't received the OTA update that other carriers pushed out, so I don't know if the update fixed anything with MAP.
Text readout is built into the S4 via the S-Voice app. It takes some digging, but enable it, put phone in driving mode, and it works well.
Note that this is a TouchWiz feature. I'm not sure if there's something similar on AOSP/CM/etc.
my Ram text did not work with S4 very often and SVoice had to be on in car mode for it to occasionally work. i installed the update we just got it my MAP for text on stereo works perfectly. i have also read on other car forums that the latest update fixed it for others as well. i was happy to see it working as it should.
i installed the Darkslide rom here to keep my root and boot unlock.
I'm considering loading the CM 10.1 ROM onto an HTC Aria. I was reading in the Aria forum that the voice recognition doesn't work with this ROM. I was wondering what exactly that means. Does just Google's voice recognition not work, or will I be locked out of all voice recognition. The Aria is a really small phone so I want to use the keyboard as little as possible. If I download an app like Utter will that still work? Also, what are some recommendations for keyboards that have voice-to-text buttons on them that don't use the Google voice, or whatever is the default in CM 10.1? Also, is there like a global voice-to-text engine that I could use instead of the default, and just kinda swap it in?
Ready for a Samsung Galaxy S4 system dump and a chance to play with all of the goodies it contains? The folks over at SamMobile received one and have already begun pulling out apps for you to install. First up is the newest version of S Voice, the Siri-like voice actions application that was first introduced with the Galaxy S3. It’s still powered by Nuance’s Vlingo, so it’s certainly no Google Voice Search. But hey, if you like talking to your phone and found older versions of S Voice to be of use, feel free to give this new one a shot.
You’ll be able to voice dial, create memos, schedule appointments and tasks, set alarms or timers, ask “what the weather is like,” and find local listings to the best restaurants. From what I can tell, nothing has really changed, other than the S Voice icon. Pro S Voice users, feel free to tell me what I’m missing.

Once it finishes downloading, install as you would any sideloaded app. If you are installing on a Galaxy Star, it should install
