Any AOSP roms going to have stock features? - AT&T LG Optimus G

I have come to really love my quickmemo feature and would hate to give it up, and would love to see the ability to use Qslide apps on say CM10.1.
I remember hearing at the least quickmemo would be usable on AOSP roms but, haven't seen any details on how to get it to the AOSP roms.

Nope.
AOSP is Plain Vanilla Android. Stuff like Quick Memo is added in by LG and is proprietary.

+1 for gunny. The LG notebook can be downloaded in the apps section. Use LMT for the somewhat same effect as quick memo.

I get that AOSP is Vanilla android and Quick Memo is a closed source app.
That doesn't mean that the app itself isn't capable of running on AOSP. Perfect example would be the Beats Audio, A number of the Xperia Apps, and so on and so forth.
I should have propably phrased the question "Any Stock features going to be compatible with AOSP."

That would require some modifications to the systemui.apk I think. Same for QSlide. You'd need to modify the systemui.apk to work with the xxxxxxxxOverlay.apk (forgot what it was called exactly).

[Q] Stock ICS MMS.apk?

I've flashed around a bit with different roms and as much as I enjoy touchwiz, I love the stock mms app that comes in AOKP/ vanilla android ICS and was just wondering if anyone had made any type of universal port for touchwiz roms that work just as smoothly? Saw a couple on the play store but they were total rubbish and full of bugs. gonna stay on AOKP in the meantime. Just curious if anyone else shared the thought

I did see that but I read the actual ability to receive and download MMS is broken in it. And I'm not knocking the Samsung mms, I just personally prefer the overall UI and feel of the stock 4.0 one. Sammys is great though.

That's the problem. Even if you get a compatible full asop mms, you have to keep the default samsung app. If you delete it, it will cause problems and FCs.

Thank you phalanx, I hadn't realized serendipity incorporated aosp apps into touchwiz. That does further spark my curiosity as to if It's possible to pull the AOSP mms app as a stand alone apk that I could keep and install no matter what ROM I switch to since serendipity makes it seem possible if I just disable the stock mms app.

Simple way would be to change your pngs in your drawable-hdpi folder and change some xmls as well, not really all that difficult once you get started
Edit: sorry, completely forgot that Samsung's has text bubbles, so it would get a little trickier, I'll look into it
Edit: So, I've been real busy with school and stuff, so I haven't been able to look at the apk. Also, I don't have a Samsung Mms.apk since I like the AOSP feel of ICS better and have been on AOKP since it came out. So in trying to find a Samsung Mms.apk in our dev threads, I found that Serendipity 9 has an AOSP Mms.apk in it and is TW-based. It also has a lot of other AOSP apks in it, and it looks nice and runs pretty well. (flashed it to see everything first-hand). That might be an answer

JB, Sense4 and 3D camera

Hi, I would like to ask, why is 3D camera problem at most JB and Sense 4 roms. Thanks for reply.:cyclops:
As far as I understand it, HTC never released source code for the camera drivers. Unless somebody writes one from scratch, there is nothing to port the drivers into AOSP or sense 4 ROMs. This doesn't mean it can't be done, just a lot more difficult.
But why cant you use drivers from ics, sorry for my stupidity but the base of drivers must be same as JB and Sense 4

Is because the drivers for the 3d camera are proprietary and HTC has not and probably never will release them to the public furthermore jelly bean s'pose have sense 4.1, at least on the official release

Sense apps depend on an underlying framework that doesn't exist in AOSP based ROM's and that changes from release to release even for Sense. Many AOSP apps, like the camera and gallery from 4.2, work on Sense ROM's because they still support the AOSP functions, but don't expect HTC apps and widgets to work on non-Sense ROM's because that framework is not there.

I don't think the HTC mail app will work on non-Sense ROM's since it does require the framework, but there are some good mail apps based on the AOSP version such as K-9 Mail. The new Gmail app with pinch-to-zoom and message swiping is nice too if you are primarily a Gmail user.

Getting JB Style, Keeping TW Features - Hyperdrive & Nova

I'm assuming I'm not alone here, as I have seen many people across the forums saying that they have either already gone to, or are thinking of flashing an AOSP ROM, and are worried about losing all of those Samsung Goodies (Like hover, air gestures, eye control, TW Camera, etc.) They generally also seem to want the customizability of a custom rom, as well. So, let's discuss how people have gone about getting that JB feel on a TW ROM.
The way I currently have this set up is with the Hyperdrive 5.7 ROM as a base. With just that, you get a smoother, faster, and enormously feature-packed TW ROM. The customization you can accomplish with this ROM is very impressive, especially considering it is TouchWiz. On top of this, I'm running - yep, you guessed it - Nova Launcher.
Nova Launcher is, in my opinion, the obvious choice for getting stock JB feel on any device. Nova allows the important customizations made to Hyperdrive to continue working, while adding the JB feel right on top. I've also run the script from within Hyperdrive to enable the Nexus 4 Softkeys, and I've shut off the lights on the capacitive keys on the device itself. This makes them completely invisible, so the device looks much more like a Nexus device, if you like that sort of thing.
What do you guys think? What other options are out there? I'm looking to give some insight to users who may want to get this type of feel on their S4, while also getting some feedback or better/different ways of achieving this. Good luck, and happy theming!

Why don't you just go check out the ROM thread yourself before completely discounting it? No, it does not have the white dialer. It's very well themed and runs great.

Yeah. So the dialer and incoming calls are both part of the TW base. Nova launcher is just that; a home/launcher replacement. Just as you said. Though I am sure there are theming options for these things through third party methods, since many people dislike TW appearances.
I am just trying to get more of an AOSP look/feel, doesn't need to be completely coated in JB.

I fully understood the point of the thread which is why I suggested Eclipse ROM. It's Touchwiz based and includes all the Touchwiz gimmicks as well as the TW camera. It's most certainly NOT an AOSP ROM as you seem to think it is. It's just a very well themed Touchwiz ROM.

Help finding suitable Rom

When you say Stock Android look and feel do you mean AOSP?
Hyperdrive has a lot of options for pretty much every apsect of the rom
Eclipse S4 TW Edition is basically a TW rom with the look and feel of AOSP. Those are the two best in my opinion. If you're really trying to get down to nearly pure AOSP programs and stuff you can check out Andybone's Barebones Rom too. It just depends on how AOSP like you wanna go.

If you are talking about my ROM..
Google auto restores your apps,...
Not ROM related.
also there is NOTHING wrong with the AOSP lock screen,
and Samsung Music is found in Aroma, choose hub..
I suggest doing a FULL CLEAN install, and NOT installing anything outside my thread.
I can only assume you flashed an android.policy.jar and that broke the AOSP lock screen. User Error.
Also I don't include ANY app you can download from the play store.. why would I?
waste of space.
Everything you hate about my ROM can all be solved by fixing your user errors, and a little research.

Have you checked out pie control? Or checked to see if your ROM supports it? Don't mean to put words in neo.ank mouth but, it might be what he is talking about.
Many ROM's support it.
One thing you have to remember is that you are dealing with a device that still has hardware buttons
Slim kat has an option for it but I had a lot of issues with slim. I've always preferred asop ROMs but I'd like the full google experience. Pie control is OK but I'd prefer something persistent.

Hard buttons are persistent..... I mean, with a launcher like Nova or Apex.. something to that effect, and the right .png files you could get the same effect modifying your dock but really, all you will be doing is taking up screen real estate.
